We have a big Polish-themed dinner on Christmas eve which traditionally includes 12 dishes, including pierogi. I make my own Christmas crackers (the British type that make a loud crack when you pull the ends) and everyone has to read the little jokes inside aloud and wear the paper hats while opening presents. - Polkadobo

We get a Disney ornament every year, everyone goes to my grandma's house on Christmas Eve and the man of the family reads the Christmas story in the Bible and we sing Happy Birthday to Jesus. I've been making my mom's awesome fudge recipe for the past 5 yrs. And since we got married, DH and I throw a Christmas Eve-Eve party on the 23rd. - TickledTink

Every person in the household gets a new ornament every year (mine and Mom's are usually Disney lol). We have certain ornaments that go in certain spots on the tree. Then Christmas morning = coffee then stockings. Doggies first, then youngest to oldest. Then we pass out gifts... Then it's pretty much just a lazy day of eating and lounging around. We also try to make it to Christmas Tree Lane walk-through every year (it's a strip of houses that are mostly decked out in Christmas lights/decorations. Usually a drive through sorta thing, but twice a year it's walk through and we LOVE doing that!) - SPandEvLover

With my husband's family we open gifts at midnight. With both families someone is Santa and hands out gifts one by one. Once someone opens their gift, then another is passed out. This way we can get pictures of everyone and not have to worry about missing someone's reaction - LBChica

Christmas Eve my mom always had us open one gift early. I'm not sure why possibly to get the holiday spirit going or to torture me. Lol. Then we'd have cocoa and cookies. Yeti's mom does the same thing except you get new pj's every year for the photos the next morning. Lol. - PrettyPixie

Christmas pjs from Santa on Christmas eve. Every year our elf on the shelf comes back and watches the kids for Santa. It doesn't stop the daily bloodshed but he's cute. I also give them a new ornament every year. - Missshelly

Christmas Eve we spend at my Dad's. We aren't allowed to buy him nor my stepmom gifts. We spend the year doing RAKs and on Christmas Eve our whole family sits in a circle and shares. Then my DH and I drive back to his Mom's and spend the night. We open presents in the morning and have yummy tamales just like we have every Christmas morning for the last 21 years since we met. - QueenBee
