Layed up on the couch with legs elevated. High on pain meds and muscle relaxers... Back surgery is in my near future... Slipped disc.. There goes my job as a vet tech... Plus side? I now have time for MW again...

Thanks guys. MinnieJ that would be fabulous!! .. I'm getting a cortisone shot tomorrow in my back to prolon having surgery for a little while... My boss is not taking the news too well... I'm so depressed... Those that know me, know that my job is my life... Without saving animals I don't know what to do...maybe I can go back one day with lifting restrictions... I dunno - Becky.Boops

I've learned that MrBoops is a really good nurse tho and he finds me bring high on pain meds pretty funny... The most frustrating part is I'm too young for this!! I thought this stuff didn't happen till later in life! Thank u all for ur kind words! You're th best! Love u guys! - Becky.Boops

Oh I am so sorry. I have been in a similar situation with herniated discs, spinal stenosis and possible career changes (although I know of many nurses with history of disc issues and are still working). I pray your Dr gives you the maximum state disability allowed (I got a year and it really helped). Getting a good physical therapist is REALLY important too! If you need a rec for an awesome one in the SD/La Jolla area, let me know. Mine was awesome and has kept my back pain at a wee minimal and allowed me to be a functioning mommy and hopefully a nurse again soon. Give it time to heal and don't rush into surgery as it doesn't always solve the problem. - Polkadobo

Thanks polkadobo, i appreciate the advice, supposed to start physical therapy and what not... Tomorrow I'm going over the game plan with my dr... I appreciate all of your guys' input. My dad had fusion surgery to repair herniated and ruptured discs (basically, they fused vertebrae together to compensate for the injured disc). Pretty intense surgery with rough recovery, but he's a million times better now. - John
