The way some things are run are stupid...apparently the financial aid system thinks I have enough money to pay for school and living expenses when neither I nor my parents have steady jobs and my brother is also in college. Sorry I just needed to vent. Soo wishing I was in Disneyland so I could forget my problems

I have been trying to get a job too so it's not like I'm just taking money for no reason. I will make it I have an on call job. Looks like I will be making some new friends to share books with and I will be catching rides with people. Will be hard but I can do it - Disneydork89

Can you ask them to convert the loans to work study instead? I found that the best campus jobs were work study because all or part of your pay comes from that. Some will only hire work study. Also, your assets are more important to financial aid than your parents' so if you have any savings or assets in your name, your contribution will be higher. - bluefairy

I owe 20k in student loans and I took the minimum offered. If you can suffer now... Do it. Do the crap bookstore job or whatever it takes to pay back the loan while in college. It'll help. Especially with tuition hikes. Buy textbooks online ( or international versions )... That saved me a good 300 a semester! - michelledork

I was able to get the important books by splitting the cost with people and sharing but I'm not worried as much any more. It just really made me upset when I first found out I'm gunna be ok I really don't want to have to owe money so I'm thinking about later lol - Disneydork89

Well, if you get into harvard, they cover your tuition if you can't pay. ;p some schools cover employees' kids if they go to that college. - bluefairy
