Non Disney question for the make up wearing women out there. I rarely wear make up. The last time I bought make up was 2 years ago(other then mascera). I have benefit make up but it's time to replace it. I was thinking about MAC make up. There is a MAC store near us. But I don't know much about the price and quality of MAC. I don't mind paying good money for high quality. Any suggestions would help

MAC is great stuff. Good quality, department store priced and up. I am a benefit and philosophy girl myself. - Suzie-Q  434.3 #287 4:33PM
MAC is amazing. And if you rarely wear makeup, one round of products will last you a long time. - Marieeezy  588.9 #185 4:35PM
Here goes. Mac really shouldn't be worn fit mre than an hour or two. Very drying and too heavy. Mascara replace at least every 6 months. Dept store vs drug store? If you like lancome, get loreal instead. Mary Kay and wet n wild have very good items without the average dept store minimum of 70% markup. Anything else you wanna know ask this old cosmetics hag. - Butterlina  1307.4 #61 4:37PM
I use a hodge-podge of stuff..some MAC, some Benefit, some Smashbox but overall MAC is a very good line. I'll be stocking up at the end of the month when they come out with their Disney Villains collection. - VillainsFan  1213.1 #67 4:37PM
I've only used MAC eye makeup before. I've used Estee Lauder, Clinique and Bare Minerals before but had to go back to Revlon because of finances. My advice would be to try the make up before you buy. Ask them if they can give you samples. MAC used to charge for getting a makeover, they wanted you to buy some of the products used. Try first before buying. - Diznimom  211.8 #1451 4:40PM
Do not use the bacteria ridden testers other than maybe on your wrist. Ewwww. - Butterlina  1307.4 #61 4:43PM
Paging Bitterlina...who do you think makes the best foundation? Lots of people raved to me about Armani, bought some, don't love it. - VillainsFan  1213.1 #67 4:43PM
Thanks so much for the help. I think I will go to MAC this weekend and see what tgey have - AdaliseAndAurorasMommy  215.6 #1403 4:49PM
Depends on what type of formulation you want and coverage. Armani is actually pretty good. If you want coverage, you may consider a professional line. Shu uemura is very good. Ingredients to avoid: isopropyl myristate. It's synthetic coconut oil and a kniwn skim irritant. - Butterlina  1307.4 #61 4:49PM
I love MAC but it's pricey. The only reason I buy it is cause my friend works there and gets me a 65% discount. If not for that I'd be WalMarting it up - MrsJackSparrow  56.6 #3617 4:50PM
Look into o perhaps mehron, korff, oh Calvin Klein had a good line I dunno if it's drill out there - Butterlina  1307.4 #61 4:53PM
Good I ingredient in powders and foundations: titanium dioxide. It's pigmentation but also acts as a physical rather than chemical sunblock. - Butterlina  1307.4 #61 4:54PM
Thanks for the recommendations.. The Armani just looks sort of chalky on my skin. Tried a primer to see if that helped but it didn't really make a difference. On to Shu uemura.. - VillainsFan  1213.1 #67 4:55PM
To stop eyeliner melting, after applying put a matching eyeshadow over it (similar colour I mean) using a tapered applicator. The shadow will "set" the liner - BLG  1049.5 #81 4:57PM
Sorry I did not mean to hijack. Laming. Lol. But it is stuff I know about. Now back to our lead story. - Butterlina  1307.4 #61 4:58PM
Not hi-jacking, just giving good input. I'm "liking" this thread so I'll have quick access to all this info. - VillainsFan  1213.1 #67 5:02PM
Good tip BLG..i always end up having racoon eyes - MrsJackSparrow  56.6 #3617 5:03PM
I like MAC but it is expensive. I would suggest having them do your makeup and then wear it home before you buy anything. I've found that it can look different at home and also I like to see how it holds up for a part of the day. Have fun! - RocklinMousewife  259.6 #908 5:05PM
I guess it depends what you are shopping for. MAC is great for shadows the make great tones for multi purposes. But for foundation it's super heavy and it's called photo finish because it helps remove all flaws for photography type shoots but for every day it can be too much for sensitive skin and you could see and increase in break outs which I am sure you're trying to avoid. I really love stilla for a solid power foundation. Goes on super thin but great coverage. I use a Mary Kay moisturizer tint because I just need a little coverage. Take a look around and if you have a sephoria go and walked around that store is amazing - Smart.tea  205.4 #1545 5:09PM
If you need a good mascara fresh by supernova @ sephora is amazing. Looks like you have false lashes on and doesn't flake or get clumpy no matter how many coats you apply. It's a little pricy $25 I believe, but very worth it. - Nicole  380.2 #353 5:09PM
I absolutely love MAC!!! The Studio Fix Foundation Powder is best! Along with their Lipglass, lipsticks & Glittered Shadows. The best mascara is the lash extender in waterproof from Sephora - I also love their liquid minerals foundation - and with the one at DTD you can use your AP discount! They also carry Buxum Lipgloss to plump your lips and Smashbox which has great eyeshadows! - RoyannaF  376.6 #362 5:11PM
I've been wearing MAC for years and I use their foundation probably 3-4 times a week. In order to reduce heaviness, use a foundation brush. Don't use your fingers because of the bacteria on your hands and sponges make foundation look cakey. - Marieeezy  588.9 #185 5:17PM
I totally hate it when can't find good makeup! LOL... - Mousedad  61.9 #3535 5:22PM
My wife only uses mac and your right it lasts forever......figuratively of course. - Tolkienapostle  6.7 #8414 7:21PM
It may not be very popular, but I've used Merle Norman for years. The ladies in the store will help you select the perfect colors, and show you how to apply everything. Their prices are very reasonable too - TinkPen  428.3 #292 7:25PM
Smashbox here. The other day on the news they were talking about some new makeup kit at Target for $30. Supposedly it got rave reviews. Sorry forgot the name. - Dizkid  284.2 #702 7:30PM
MAC is it! - SupremeLeader  393.9 #338 7:34PM
Nope nope nope i love me some mac and i use nothing other, I'll be at dland all day all night long and it still looks fly!!!!! - MinnieMe  76.8 #3320 7:45AM
This may sound weird coming from a guy but when I was in theater there were a few people who were just totally allergic to stage makeup and used MAC instead. It isn't the cheapest but the quality is awesome and the selections are really cool too - BlueberryCrusader  650.5 #162 7:48AM
MAC is really great. I used to use Merle Norman because a friend gave it to me for years for free. It was pretty good. I used MAC for our wedding and absolutely love it. However, I'm not choosey. I get Avon and other brands as well! - Disneybird  173.1 #1951 8:00AM
Ok GUrls....this hours makeup tip is....lip color....and it may feel funy at first.....and it will...but try this. Use either your foundation or concealer diectly on your lips. Powder. Lip line and then color the whole thing in with same pencil. Powder. Lip color once again poder..another layer of lipcolor......lastas for a gazillion hours. feels uber icky but it works. - Butterlina  1307.4 #61 8:05AM
