So ElecTRONica is the new glowfest. Wow. Looks waaayyy better than glowfest .
I'll just leave this here. http://shrten.com/vm - mrnavarr0

Will this still be a drunken rave or is there no alcohol this time. I know Glowfest was planned outside of park officials and elecTRONica is in park so what are the changes? - CxD_CM
518.6 #224 10:28AM
There's a BIG difference from Glow Fest to ElecTRONica. More to do and it's Disney putting it on, not an outside contractor. And it's not a rave, it's a family friendly dance club - CMdman
65.2 #3483 10:34AM
Ya but Glowfest was a rave. Hopefully this will be better. I mean I'm a teen and I like to party and all but I don't like to see that in a Disney park - CxD_CM
518.6 #224 10:35AM
Glow Fest was meant to be a family friendly dance party too. It's the same thing as Pleasure Island at Walt Disney World - CMdman
65.2 #3483 10:43AM
It says there gonna have movie props and video games but its still gonna be like a rave but with more to do - mrnavarr0
64.4 #3499 10:44AM
Haha and look what Pleasure Islands turn into. I know what it was meant to be but what it turned into wasn't in the Disney value. That's all I'm saying. - CxD_CM
518.6 #224 10:44AM
Oh and idk how to post on flicker sorry. I'll find out soon. - mrnavarr0

Has anyone replying to the effect that Glow is like a rave, ever actually been to a Rave? Glow is like a club/street party where adults can enjoy a nice cocktail just like anywhere else in DCA btw and families can dance together and be silly. Hey but if that aint your style you can always hippity hopppity on over to Fantasyland across the way ;-) - Jayjay
417.4 #308 11:19AM
Oh BTW to all our Teen and Tween MWers: RAVES ARE BAD!!! STAY AWAY FORM THEM!!! - Jayjay
417.4 #308 11:20AM
if that is people's definition of a rave is, then wow times sure have changed in ten years. When I went a couple weeks ago, it was a place dance crazy with Cait and everyone around. I'm intrested to see what electronica will look like. - missingblackapinoatDL
236.8 #1146 11:22AM
Right Ant? I attended my share of Raves in my day and lemme tell you there was very lil of anything that resembled dancing. And alcohol was not the reason for all the intoxication.... - Jayjay
417.4 #308 11:24AM
From everyone's stories I was expecting some drunken fools. Maybe I came on the wrong day, but it wasn't any different than any other day in DCA with people drinking around the park. - missingblackapinoatDL
236.8 #1146 11:30AM
Ive been going to raves for a little over a year now. And honestly it feels like a rave. Loud music, bright lights everywhere the only thing missing are the zombies walking around drugged out of their minds. I see alot of security at glowfest so people shouldn't be worried about drugs coming thru - mrnavarr0
64.4 #3499 11:31AM
Ya mrnavarr said it. It's got the characteristics of a rave minus drug use. Let's not take things to literal now we all know it's not a real rave. - CxD_CM
518.6 #224 11:34AM
Glowfest is nothing like a rave! Raves these days are trashy, dangerous, && are all about alcohol, hardstyle, drugs (mainly E), drugs, and more drugs. - iFramedRogerRabbit
1956.2 #36 11:34AM
Okay it's got loud music bright lights alcohol and a bunch of people dancing. What is it then? A family party with music most little kids don't even know and alcohol. That's a great family zone. - CxD_CM
518.6 #224 11:37AM
Roger rabbit sounds like an anchorman on a news channel because he's repeating what the media is saying. Its not all drugs. - mrnavarr0
64.4 #3499 11:42AM
Been to a couple with friends, just not my cup of tea. *Shrugs* - iFramedRogerRabbit
1956.2 #36 11:47AM
All of the music at Glow Fest my 8 year old so. Loved. We went one a week almost every Friday. Never was it like a rave. It was a street party. I never once had an issue with my son dancing around and learning choreography from the Glow dancers. Whom ever is saying it was not family friendly or nonDisney didn't attend or is uber conservative. Lots of mini MWers got to enjoy themselves along with their parents. That is why Walt created Disneyland, so chidden of al ages, families alike could enjoy eachother. That's sure what I did!! Jay jay I agree with what you said!! I loved Glow Fest, it was one of my favorite parts of Summer Nightastic. Accoring to Coaster Glow actually got better reviews than WOC!! - Disneybird
173.1 #1955 11:47AM
You guys sound like wet rags!! LOL! - Jayjay
417.4 #308 11:49AM
Okay we wanna bring Walt in. Would walt have created Glowfest if he was still here? - CxD_CM
518.6 #224 11:49AM
Heck yeah he would have! Walt was all about the up and up new trends and innovative ways to amuse people! It was in his very nature!!! - Jayjay
417.4 #308 11:50AM
Birdy - I LOVE YOU and MIDGET DOGS TOO!!!! - Jayjay
417.4 #308 11:51AM
What would you two like to see at Electronica that would make it family friendly? I had a good time dancing with my gf and my friend's son. - missingblackapinoatDL
236.8 #1146 11:53AM
Jayjay!!! Walt would have loves seeing kids dancing with their parents. I was standing next to a mom and dad who brought their baseball team to Disbeyland and the boys were all 15 16 17, the too cool to dance and look like a fool age. She and her husband had tears in their eyes because ALL 12 of the boys were dancing, having fun and she was So excited!! - Disneybird
173.1 #1955 11:54AM
Sooo looking at what Walt created and what he would say and even how the park he created doesn't have alcohol he would have made Glowfest the same maybe a dance party like tomorrowland terrace but no glowfest. - CxD_CM
518.6 #224 11:54AM
Are you guys going to early glowfest or late glowfest. Because I go at like 10:30 and am not seeing any of the kids dancing with parents and stuff. Maybe it changes as kids leave the park. Maybe that's why we have a disagreement. I've never Bern to early glowfest. - CxD_CM
518.6 #224 11:56AM
The one an only time I went, there were a lot of families at 9. After I watched WOC at 10:15 and rode TSMM there were still families around dancing until the parked closed. I'm sure its different everyday. I'm from the bay area, so I don't get to see glowfest as often as the rest of y'all. - missingblackapinoatDL
236.8 #1146 12:01PM
This is a friendly debate. You posed an interesting question. Would Walt have approved Glowfest? That kinda segways into would Walt have even thought up DCa then right? Club 33 has a fully stacked bar. No question that he disapproved of alcohol all together. Then again he didn't put beer carts in DL or vend alcohol all together accessible in the park. So it all makes me wonder!! - Jayjay
417.4 #308 12:02PM
And antbo to answer your question I'm 17 and i know this sounds weird but I think getting rid of the alcohol or at least moving it somewhere else where you can't smell it. Because I'm not denying Glowfest isn't fun I really enjoy it. - CxD_CM
518.6 #224 12:02PM
We closed it down. Almost every Friday. And walt created a place to drink in Disbeyland because at that time they didn't have alcohol. You can
Drink in Club 33. You are acting like Glow was a big drunken fest. I'm sure there were lots more people at WOC who had drank at Trattoria or gotten beer or 'ritas then at Glow Fest. - Disneybird
173.1 #1955 12:02PM
Jayjay your right. I think if Walt were still here we wouldn't even have DCA but something better. - CxD_CM
518.6 #224 12:03PM
I am just saying that my friends and family had an amazing time with no incadents. - Disneybird
173.1 #1955 12:03PM
No bro it doesn't sound weird at all, I hope you don't think we're attacking you, I was curious what you would put in Electronica that would make it more family friendly. Me personally, I would put an alcohol section in a different spot as well and I wouldn't play horrible techno remixes of top 40 songs. LOL - missingblackapinoatDL
236.8 #1146 12:04PM
Hahaha come on Disneybird the portable alcohol venders are right next to glowfest. Don't say your gonna have more drinking at WOC then Glowfest. - CxD_CM
518.6 #224 12:05PM
LilGoldy loved glowfest, He would dance around everywhere. I am kind of excited to see what happens next with ElecTRONica. - Goldberg
408.1 #319 12:05PM
Thank you antbo that's all I'm saying. I mean all I listen to is rap but when I'm at Disneyland I wannabhear some good music not terrible remixes and I don't wanna smell the alcohol. Take that away and that's my idea of a family fun area - CxD_CM
518.6 #224 12:06PM
Now have you guys been to pleasure island in WDW? That place was seedy. I think I went there at the wrong time because I wasn't impressed at all. - missingblackapinoatDL
236.8 #1146 12:07PM
I have a feeling the music is going to be different than glowfest. Not top 40 anymore. Its gonna be daft punk, justice and a bunch of electro artists. Stuff you would hear in the movie. After all, daft punk did have a major role in producing the Tron soundtrack. - mrnavarr0
64.4 #3499 12:07PM
Do you know how long Electronica will be around? I'm coming back to DL in December and I hope its still going on. - missingblackapinoatDL
236.8 #1146 12:09PM
Ya pleasure islands sketchy but the difference is it's outta sight from the theme parks like club 33 is. Put the alcohol somewhere else. And I have a feeling elecTRONica will be way better because it's actually made by disney! - CxD_CM
518.6 #224 12:10PM
Glowfest was all about having fun and a place to go to get people away from world of color, and it worked....there's alcohol everywhere in DCA and just because some drunken kids come into the park and end up being stupid shouldn't create a black eye for glowfest or elecTRONica....there's a difference between having some drinks and having fun than having drinks and being stupid....I also saw a LOT of little kids having a blast being able to dance around and get worn out while the parent has a drink in celebration of getting the kid worn out for an early bedtime - AuzRoxUrSox
901.8 #98 12:11PM
Well the weird thing is starting after Halloween construction starts on the front of the park to remodel it so I don't know how elecTRONica will be - CxD_CM
518.6 #224 12:11PM
Reading this reminds me of last night. I got into a discussion with another CM from another department about this very thing. He said Glow is a rave, I said I hate when people call it a rave because it's not a rave, it's a family dance club. He said Walt wouldn't of liked it. I said he would of because Walt was all about fun and Walt would of loved it because not only are adults having fun but so are kids. - CMdman
65.2 #3483 12:13PM
Ya i know the alcohol had good intentions but sometimes I'll see someone standing there with like 5 empty cups on the glow tables. It's a good idea bit your always gonna have people being stupid and abusing it. - CxD_CM
518.6 #224 12:14PM
Props to CMdman! That's exactly right! Walt would have loved it because it's a place where parents AND kids can have fun together....and that's what started Disneyland in the first place - AuzRoxUrSox
901.8 #98 12:14PM
Good point cmdman. Either Like it and have fun or hate it because its to much of a "rave". But people should really just be having fun. - mrnavarr0
64.4 #3499 12:15PM
Oh yeah, about the music, the live DJ and the music he started playing is what's going to be played at ElecTRONica. So until now to Labor Day when Glow Fest stops, all the music you hear will be part of Glow - CMdman
65.2 #3483 12:16PM
But Glowfest wasn't even planned by Disney so we can't really ask would Walt have done that. No he would have planned it himself. And alsooo jayjay had the best point when he said would Walt had made DCA at all - CxD_CM
518.6 #224 12:16PM
Oops, I meant part of ElecTRONica - CMdman
65.2 #3483 12:19PM
at one time didn't walt have a plan to make an Epcot out here? I thought I read that somewhere. - missingblackapinoatDL
236.8 #1146 12:20PM
CM I have a question for you unrelated to glowfest haha - CxD_CM
518.6 #224 12:22PM
Haha there ya go! And okay so ever since I was a wee lad I've dreamt of working at Disneyland. I plan on attempting to make that dream come true sometime soon since I don't plan on sticking with the job I have now. How long is your commute? Do you enjoy it is it worth it to work there? And what's your role? Sorry so many questions I'm sleds afraid to ask a CM in person hahaha - CxD_CM
518.6 #224 12:30PM
Haha don't worry about it. I get asked questions like this all the time. My commute usually takes me about 30 minutes no traffic 45 - hour with traffic depending how heavy. I'm in the Resort Transportation & Parking and I really enjoy my job, it's rewarding knowing that I'm helping make someones day weather that be by showing them where to park, telling jokes or stories to the kids and making them smile when the lines for the trams are long, or just even a friendly smile, a wave and a have a good time. You can apply 2 ways. Online or I recommend going into Team Disney Anaheim and applying there. I find you hear back quicker from TDA then online. TDA is that green building on Ball just before you turn on the street for the structure - CMdman
65.2 #3483 12:40PM
Ya I'm a hugeeeeeeee peoples person and I love doing things for people and making them happy. But where are you driving from? I'm all the way down in Mission Viejo so it'd be quite the commute and that's the only negative I see - CxD_CM
518.6 #224 12:42PM
And also I already applied once but did it online which I found out after isn't the right way so after my 6 months wait time I'm gonna go back in I think - CxD_CM
518.6 #224 12:44PM
I think you should. I believe everyone should work here. If you live Disney, being a CM is great. Many believe it ruins the magic, I feel I enjoy it so much more because I appreciate the hard work that's goes into it. Let me know if you have any questions. - PlaidCM
186.4 #1795 12:47PM
Thanks a lot for the help guys. What's your role plaidCM? - CxD_CM
518.6 #224 12:48PM
Ohhh man, I'd love to be a cm!!!! I don't think i'd get hired though...Yoo many tattoos that I couldn't cover up - MinnieMe
76.8 #3323 12:50PM
Plaid says it best. I enjoy Disney a lot more now then I did when I was an AP holder just because I now know all the hard work that goes into it to making the magic and fun happen. I commute from San Dimas. Just do it, I have CM in my department, and I'm sure Plaid does too, who drive farther distances then you would - CMdman
65.2 #3483 12:52PM
And also I'm a senior in highschool. Do you have any hiring tips to help? All CMs out there - CxD_CM
518.6 #224 12:53PM
Wait until you graduate then go to Team Disney Anaheim (TDA) on Ball and Cast Place and put an application in there. In my experience you have a better chance to get hired if you apply in person then online - CMdman
65.2 #3483 12:55PM
Cmdman told me one night that I'd never get hired by Disney....felt like a shot to my ego - MinnieMe
76.8 #3323 12:57PM
That was when I was just hired on and everyone told me tattoos will stop people from getting hired. But now that I've seen all that can be done, we have backstage roles you can work at MinnieMe - CMdman
65.2 #3483 1:01PM
I believe you just have to be 18 and a graduating senior. I drive from riverside so ita about 45-hour without traffic. ChargersxDisneyland I'm in guest relations. So I have a variety of different roles. - PlaidCM
186.4 #1795 1:02PM
Plus you can always cover them up with long sleeves and pants, or work backstage like I said - CMdman
65.2 #3483 1:02PM
Thanks dman, I love you again. - MinnieMe
76.8 #3323 1:05PM
Hey sorry guys the app crashed for me. But thanks for the info. Is there anybtips you'd say besides doing it in person and dressing nicley to apply. - CxD_CM
518.6 #224 1:23PM
I like the use of TRON - Nickelnorm
101.4 #3019 1:24PM
And are you in cityhall plaid? - CxD_CM
518.6 #224 1:29PM
