Do you go alone or with family or friends? Our last trip was august 2007 but as there are 5 of us and Perth is far away and expensive to fly from, it will be a few years before our next trip . In the meantime, I have MW! - BLG

I go with a family of four. The cost are quite extensive but if you look for cheap fares there can be quite good deals. I have found half price fares before. V Australia have 40% off at the moment for their birthday sale. For now though it will have to be the webcam for me. - Nicholas-M

V Australia doesn't fly direct from here. What are they like to fly? I really like Virgin Blue. We flew them to the Goldy last year and are flying them again to Melbourne in 2 weeks. A "cheap" fare from here wouldn't be less than say $1600. Perth is so isolated - BLG

Went with Hawaiian airlines last time and cost 1200 from Sydney, also gave a convenient stop over in Hawaii Which makes a perfect holiday even better. Would fly v Australia next time because Hawaiian airline prices are rediculous now. 2000+ return. Have seen v aust for 800 return on a special - Nicholas-M

Tacking a return fare to the east coast to that 800 brings it up to $1300. But I bet the flying dates are pretty restricted on a fare that cheap - BLG

It probably would. Have only seen it once. I spend most of my spare time looking up flights and tracking them. If you left from Brisbane the flight from Perth with jetstar would only cost 400 return. And then the usual price for v Australia is about 1000 so that would make it about 1400 to la. Plus accommodation. - Nicholas-M

Never trust tiger( even though they are owned by Singapore airlines, they don't like to share it) but jetstar are usually ok, the worst i have heard was a friend of mine leaving MCY to melbourne and was delayed for 10 hours. If you want a cheap flight, jetstar is good. But virgin is better - Nicholas-M

I love virgin. Better than Qantas domestic I think. And I love SIA but I can't believe how horrible tiger is. I'd have to be desperate to give them my money. What do you do in Q? I'm a stay at home mum for the most part but I taught high school for over 15 years - BLG

I am a student. I think that qantas is toooo expensive. The reason is because you get a small ammount of "free food" and that is supposed to justify the extra money - Nicholas-M

The "free" food is anyway. I'd rather wait to land or pay for virgin's food which is actually pretty decent. Flying out of Perth we've gotten some good deals withalaysian - and you usually get a free night with meals in or near KL. Also did executive economy on a special with SIA and it was fabulous! - BLG
