I need some random advice... Where's the best place to travel for your first time out of the country?
It depends on what you like and what you want to do/see. Ivebeen places to see family and I have gone places for fun. - AliciaMomMom

England, it's similar enough to make it easy to get around but still very different than life here in the us. And relatively safe. - Zooter

No, Ive been to costa rica and going back next month I dont think that its that safe for a 23 year old female unless youre with a nice big group of people - Dave

Ditto to what Dave said, it's be best to go in a big group. I think it's always best to travel to another country with a group. - LBChica

Depends a lot on your budget and idea of "fun." Wanna do beachy stuff or sightsee museums/churches/temples? Lagers vs pubs with stout vs wine? I loved Italy as my first real trip post-college and am still dying to do England. Check out a "Let's Go" book from the library on the countries you're interested in and make a pro/con list. Often times there's a section in the back discussing safety and female travelers. - Polkadobo

You could always do a Contiki tour or something like that. Then you are with a group and you don't need to worry about anything. A lot of people from
here start their OE's with a contiki. You'll make a lot of new friends too - JR
