WORLD OF COLOR TIPS: I have seen a lot of great advice from all of you here in the Lounge and on twitter so I am going to compile everything here with your help, thanks!

Post your tips here! - Admin 1:18PM
In a twitter poll that BCC ran, everyone said the Boardwalk was the best place to be, is that true? - Admin 7:57AM
If you want a good view of the whole show, the back of the viewing areas by the ariel construction is great. Just be sure to be at the handrailing by the planters. And the view on the bridge between the lighthouse and ariels grotto is good too. - SecretCM  18.2 #5252 8:17AM
What I gathered was either in the very back or very front. - BCC  4640.8 #5 8:18AM
Ive seen it from the Yellow section and from the red. The yellow section was amazing! The projections were clear and we were far enough away to take it all in and not get soaked. The red section was terrible! The projections looked fuzzy and we could not see all of the pictures or fountains on the right. Get in line early because regardless of where you stand its best to be against the railing without someone directly in front of you. - Calypso  812.9 #113 8:19AM
Agree w/ Calypso...sat in Blue (decent view), Red soak zone (worst view but soaked from head to toe) and Yellow-(best view of entire show) - toph  2398.9 #26 8:25AM
We did the WOC dining package at the Trattoria. They give you the FPs for the reserved dining section at the show. Still need to get there early to scope out a good standing room spot, but the viewing area is great. We got a spot right behind a railing next to wear the wheelchair and scooter section. The bushes in front of the railing shoots water up during the show which was a surprise, but kind of cool! We were also in the 3rd tier area and had a great panoramic view of the entire show and only got a little misted. - MimiMouse  1015.6 #87 8:43AM
I heard that a spot on the bridge to paradise pier by ariels grotto is a great spot and a lot of people don't think to go there....but that's what I heard from one person - AuzRoxUrSox  901.8 #98 9:18AM
The bridge is the orange section. - BCC  4640.8 #5 9:19AM
Get there EARLY.. even in the red section you can get a decent view. Go to the far left end by the ropes in one of the back sections and get up against the railing. - LaceySue  328.8 #479 9:24AM
I am compiling some of BCCs posts here: There are 4 viewing sections for World of Color: Red, Yellow, Blue and Orange. If you want a GREAT view of World of Color, yellow is your section! If you want to be SOAKED, Red is your section! Blue or Orange sections are decent. Bare in mind that the section distributions are RANDOM. - Admin 9:29AM
BCC: Now, the tip you've all been waiting for: The fastpass distribution. The gates open at 9 AM for Hotel guests ONLY. Simply go to the Grand Californian Hotel with your hotel key and park admission to be admitted early! If you are a regular guest, head to DCA's main gates around 830- 9 AM if you want to avoid all lines if possible. The distribution times and wait time for fastpasses are a bit rough, but will change as more statistics come in. - Admin 9:29AM
10:15 PM Show time distribution: 1030 AM to 1130 AM 30- 45 minute wait ( 20-45 minute wait ONLY on Deluxe/Socal/Socal Select blockout days) - Admin 9:31AM
11:15 PM Show time distribution: 1130 AM to mid-afternoon. Diminishes as the day progresses. - Admin 9:31AM
Also, only ONE member of your party needs to be in the line for WOC. Make sure he/she won't lose them so you guys won't have a fight on the way home. ALL the tickets must be scanned in the park or the ticket will be INELIGIBLE for a fastpass. - Admin 9:32AM
From toph: They tell you to pick up your picnic boxes between 2pm-7pm...I bought a couple of extras the day we went and they said they sell them until the sell out...best bet is to get them earlier...for my online purchase they let me keep it in the fridge until I wanted to pick it up...for same day purchase they make you take it right away so food will spoil unless you eat it when you pick it up...hope this helps - Admin 9:39AM
Although you have no choice what color you get the sections are actually distributed in a fixed order. Blue, Yellow, Orange then Red for each show. From BCC's post if you show up after 11:30 you have a good chance of getting Blue or Yellow with little or no wait. I have actually declined getting red for the 10:15 and stuck around for a few more minutes and gotten blue for 11:15. - Coaster  9139.5 #1 2:00PM
Great info Coaster. Was wondering if u could wait for passes to next show. - Ht  614.0 #177 2:52PM
It was kind of funny. I asked the CM what color was being distributed and after she said red I said thank you and walked off. She had a shocked look on her face. Guess that was the first time that happened to her. - Coaster  9139.5 #1 3:52PM
Has anyone watched it from the cove?can u just show up and pay the cover or do you need to be there really early? - PinkTink  23.1 #4805 8:29PM
Thinking about getting my in laws dining packages for WOC. What section do they get and how far in advance do they need to go get places. She's pregnant so hopefully not to early. - Elaine  404.3 #322 9:41PM
We did the Trattoria dining package for the 9 pm show and got a decent viewing spot by going 30-40 min. before showtime. - MimiMouse  1015.6 #87 10:06PM
Thanks MimiMouse! - Elaine  404.3 #322 10:46PM
@PinkTink: I asked the bouncer at the Cove. She said guests grab tables starting at 7:00 for the 9:00 show. BUT, she said once the show ends, the place clears out and it's easy to snag a good table for the next show, if you're ready to move in. I don't think the view is ideal, but it is the only place I know where you can sit and watch the show (not to mention drink). - PrinceCorey  4242.2 #6 3:43AM
We tried getting a drink and nachos at tge cove last night at around 8:15. The cove bouncer wanted to charge us $10 per person. He said u can still see WOC from there. We declined because we already had Blue FPs for 11:15. - MingyMouse  35.5 #4154 5:43AM
Just reserved dinner package at Ariel's Grotto and they said no princesses during WOC packages  - Elaine  404.3 #322 3:06PM
Saw WOC last night using Priority Dining tickets and worth every penny!!! Ordered Ariel's Grotto for $36.99/person dinner at 6pm for 9pm showing. (tip waiter said we can get extra seafood in their antipasti plates and free infant meal!). Tickets were for line at 8-8:30. Got there at 8 sat on top of the stairs facing Mickey's Fun Wheel and was the perfect spot. Didn't get wet except for a little mist, centered view and we were right next to Genie and the sprouting fountains! Also, bought some cheap WOC blankets from the store across from Ariel's Grotto for $14.99. It was originally $34.99! Plus, if AP, you get additional discount. Gets pretty cold at night. - Elaine  404.3 #322 4:55AM
Thank you guys! This is exactly what I was looking for last night! Isn't there a box dinner or something like that? And how far in advance do you stand in line for the actual show? - Amanda  120.4 #2735 6:13AM
Oh, and how much is a boxed dinner? - Amanda  120.4 #2735 6:17AM
You can purchase the box dinners ( lunch size) at the park until the run out (for the later shows) or online well in advance for the 9:00 show. Ap discount available and there are descriptions and pics of the meals online. - sandra_d  332.3 #462 6:26AM
Thanks. Where do you preorder one? Do I just go to the DCA website? - Amanda  120.4 #2735 6:28AM
Yep! Log into ap section first and select date from calendar and then chose type of box lunch. Enjoy  - sandra_d  332.3 #462 6:33AM
Sweetness! Thanks! Do you think it's better to go that way? Or just wait for a FP? Oh yeah, my othe question. With the box dinner, do I have to wait for a FP or do I just get it when I get my dinner? - Amanda  120.4 #2735 8:50AM
Austin and I went to the 11:15 showing and it was great. We were in the "splash zone" and really didn't get wet at all. If you wear a hoodie, it should be plenty to keep you dry. I think a lot of people get turned off by the idea of getting "soaked" but honestly, it's not bad at all! - michelledork  658.3 #159 9:06AM
Amanda, when you pick up the picnic lunch, they give you the FP. They advise waiting in line to get into your section about an hour to an hour and a half before the show to get a good seat in your section. We picked up our boxed lunch both times around 6:30pm, then ate it at the tables nearby and by the time we finished (we have two little kids) they had just started letting the lined up people get to their colored sections. We went straight to our section (yellow both times) without waiting in line and got the front part of our terrace section (right in front of the railing) maybe the third section back. Didn't get wet from the mist but got wet from the water that twice squirts up and out right in front of the railing. If you want to get closer I advise picking up your lunch and waiting in line for pick at the better closet seats. I thought we did pretty well and didn't spend a ton of time sitting around. We brought toys for the kids to play with while sitting on the ground, waiting for the show to start. Our section was not jam-packed and we chatted and our kids played with our neighbors. - Polkadobo  372.1 #371 9:39AM
That's some good advise Polkadobo. We are going to see it in sept when we stay at the GCH. - Gadgetman  288.8 #676 9:53AM
Thanks so much Polk! Sorry for all the confusion. That makes much more sense. I think I'll go with that then! Sounds like the best option! Thanks again!  - Amanda  120.4 #2735 9:54AM
You're welcome. At least on the third tier it wasn't all jam-packed like it gets with Fantasmic. There's actually space to breathe! - Polkadobo  372.1 #371 10:49AM
Oh, I almost forgot. Does WOC run on Saturday nights too? - Amanda  120.4 #2735 12:38PM
Yes - BCC  4640.8 #5 1:22PM
Awesome. Thanks BCC! - Amanda  120.4 #2735 1:23PM
You're welcome! - BCC  4640.8 #5 1:57PM
Since there are no dining or lunch packages for the 11:15 show, guests who get tickets for blue are allowed to use the preferred dining area. - Coaster  9139.5 #1 7:42PM
Where is the preferred viewing area? - MinnieBuccs  172.8 #1962 9:41PM
@MinnieBuccs - Preferred dining area is right in the center with the big circular section. It's between the blue and yellow sections. - Coaster  9139.5 #1 11:06PM
Thanks for all of the awesome tips for WOC. We saw it last night, got in line at 10:30am for FPs and got yellow for the 10:15 show. Lined up at 9:15 for the show and ended up with a spot all the way to the left of the section on the top step behind the large circle area and literally a foot away from the preferred seating section. Great view and loves every minute of the show. So thank you MWers! - ALICE44  0.8 #44198 11:52AM

The best place for me is at soak zone along the red or yellow zone. I love to hear and feel the water.. - Stimpy0323  349.8 #412 6:51PM
Pay attention to the daily schedule. This week is the last week for 3 shows a night. Starting next week there is only one show Tue-Thur @ 8:15. - Coaster  9139.5 #1 10:27PM
Darn! But which day? They haven't really announced a schedule and we will be there Sunday thru midweek in november, know we can catch it Sunday, but hopefully during the week too! - CravingDisney  150.1 #2294 10:34PM

My tip go to the bridge by Ariel's Grotto and when the cast member turns hop over the rop and blend in. Great views of the show and No wait. I did it with 4 people easily - Eric831  26.4 #4557 2:55PM

Blue fast pass get there 10 minutes before it says. Stay to LEFT as you lone up. My opinion to view from bridge unobstructed view for kids. Go past any light poles. - E-Ticket  772.4 #128 1:43PM
-lone + line - E-Ticket  772.4 #128 1:44PM
Red fast pass was great...don't try to nudge your way in just because you wanted to wait til the last minute to show up..it's not fair to people that have been waiting for 45 mins to an hour..we had better seats than when we paid 80 bucks for reserved seating and a fancy dinner..fastpass is the way to go. - mousecrazy71  0.4 #54080 8:02AM
What was better for preferred seating dining packages? Ariels grotto or Tratorria? - bren12  37.7 #4072 9:55PM
I thought the food was better at Ariels ( but both were good) and the tickets were the same. - drmouse  0.1 #73033 8:06PM
Is Friday a lot more crowded than Thursday? - Nickelnorm  101.4 #3018 6:54AM

Yellow is the best if you want to be up front and feel very immersed, red is good if you want to get very wet, and blue os good if you want to see it from a distance to see the entire scope of the show... For $40 you can get a dinner either at Ariel’s grotto or wine country trattoria and also get what they call "preferred seating" and it is centered but but you can't get on the to the waterline to get front row... (I've never had any experience with the preferred seating because I've never tried it)... The fastpasses are distributed from the grizzly river run fastpass queue (make sure you try to get there early) in the following order: blue, yellow, and then red. Tip: try to get there at least 15-25 minutes early prior to the FIRST listed time on your fastpass if you want front row seats... One final option is to go to the cove bar, pay $10 and watch it from there... They have food and space heaters but you won't get wet or feel immersed.... If you want more info, tap the "world of color" tag on the top of the page.. Enjoy the show! - DonaldMissingPants  296.2 #632 1:19PM
I am looking for some info on the world of color picnic. Has anyone experienced that? - sophiemouse  0.7 #45472 8:17PM
