Best Post of the Day 3-12-14
Good morning! This day in Disney history, March 12th, 2013: The Fantasy Faire and Royal Hall opened in Disneyland.

One of the highlights of Fantasy Faire is the Royal Theatre, where you’ll be treated to two unique shows relating the tales of “Beauty and the Beast” and “Tangled,” as told by a pair of Renaissance Storytellers, Mr. Smythe and Mr. Jones. Which show do you like best?

Meet  Messieurs Smythe and Jones here:

A personal favorite is the beautifully hand crafted music box
music box

A fun video from 2013, the story behind the music box with Clopin, Figaro and the even watch the Tangled Tower being put into the Fantasy Faire:

Of course, no trip to the Fantasy Faire would be complete without a visit to the Royal Hall.
Loved this artist rendition, that's just how my girls are when they enter the Hall. ::sigh::

hall

Took this next part directly from Disney Parks Blog:

“After walking into our main entrance, you will first go through a garden-like setting before entering the reception hall,” said Michel Den Dulk, Creative Director of Fantasy Faire for Walt Disney Imagineering. “Once inside the Royal Hall, guests will discover a beautiful gothic interior with nice wallpaper, wall cresting, wood finishes and chandeliers.”

Passing through a series of spaces, including the Grand Hall, you’ll have the opportunity to meet as many as three Disney princesses, from classic stories such as “Cinderella” and “Sleeping Beauty.”

Dont forget to grab a sweet treat from Maurice's Treats! At the time, (isn't there more now?) the adorable cart featured 3 “Twists” and a new signature beverage: Boysen Apple Freeze.

In a tribute to the historic Carnation Plaza Gardens, a shield over the archway leading from Fantasy Faire to Rancho del Zocalo in Frontierland displays the letters “CPG.”

Wow! Cannot believe it's been a year already!! I think this is such a sweet area that fits right in with the castle and leading into fantasyland. I have only seen the Rapunzel show and loved the tierd humor- for the adults and children. Thanks for your history post, as always😘 - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  5204.6 #17 10:54AM
Those short videos are great, too! Thanks! - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  5204.6 #17 11:00AM
I know right? Seems like last week! I too love the Repunzel show! I haven't seen BATB yet. Next trip I hope! Thank you! So glad they finally worked! I was sweating! LOL - Duchess_SMK  5936.7 #15 12:21PM
We are the opposite. We have always seen BATB but not tangled. One day we even made it for the morning show of Tangled and for some reason the first show was BATB instead of Tangled. Maybe next time we will make it. - warchanted  166.6 #2377 11:51PM
Great post.  I know I'm in the minority but I didn't really ever spend time in the CPG, so I really love Fantasy Faire.  I think the shows are outstanding and glad that the princess M&G is well done and most importantly, OUT of the FL theater.  I love having three new live shows because of this move. - Sarafina  462.0 #423 10:37AM
Thanks for the compliment! 😊 Also, Thanks for sharing your 2 cents! I love the area as well! I think it was very well done! - Duchess_SMK  5936.7 #15 12:39PM
I still haven't made it there yet. Next trip!  - ythdudette  1174.1 #132 10:40AM
😳 oh yes! Worth a look for sure! When is your next trip?  - Duchess_SMK  5936.7 #15 1:49PM
Thanks for sharing! My wife has taken the minis to Tangled twice and they love it. We all did BATB the other week and it was a lot of fun. Very we'll done with lots of hidden Disney/pop culture references and humor.  - chrismis21  525.2 #359 11:05AM
A few months after opening, I ran into the Imagineer, Michel den Dulk in the area at night, just taking pictures and taking it all in. I spoke with him for a few minutes and thanked him for his work. I think he was a little surprised that somebody noticed him, but he was very thankful. And I still haven't tried anything from the cart... - BaseballMickey_CM  6865.4 #9 11:22AM
still on disney to do! the lines are always so crazy when we go :))) - OhanaPhoto  3604.2 #30 11:53AM
They are rarely as bad as they look, I've never waited longer than 30 minutes to see the Princesses and that was a long line, ususally I'm in 15 minutes after getting in line (depends really on the Bibidi Bobidi Boutique, they get in past the line). And my tip for meeting Rapunzel is to go between 3 and 3:30 and stand by the umbrella or the small line forming along the walkway . She comes out at 3:30 with Flynn.Β  I have yet to figure out a plan for Belle, but I have always just walked up and been like 3rd or 4th in line with her in the mornings. - BeatleMike  582.7 #315 12:04PM
I feel like the wait times are significantly less than when they were over at the FL Theater. - Sarafina  462.0 #423 12:58PM
Double the princess, half the wait.  πŸ˜œ - bluefairy  643.3 #278 5:58PM
good to know! - OhanaPhoto  3604.2 #30 8:45AM
i like this area and even when long still moves very fast, due to disney magic that opens an alternate universe of twin princesses inside the meet and greet most of the day (meaning the magic is the same if you are sent to the left or right side after the cms let you in). you do have to take time in the entire area as lots of unique details incuding a few hidden pascals and at least one hidden mickey. I never saw the princesses in the old fantasy theather or at their temp home along small world but in the end it worked out. I still need to get the most elusive pic of Princess Minnie as she is the hardest character to find and get - pikarich  3806.8 #27 12:11PM
This has oddly become one of my favorite places in the park. I only every visited CPG as a child, though I know it has a bit of a storied past for live entertainment in the parks, I don't think it could really handle today's crowds for such. Fantasy Faire is really well done, the architecture is fitting and the shows are perfectly bit sized and fun for the little ones and adults alike. I could never find a Princess before the new meet and greet opened and as such had never taken a picture with one until this past August, so I believe this really made them accessible to guests. Another great post Duchess! Thank you so much. - BeatleMike  582.7 #315 12:25PM
Oddly enough? With your affinity for a certain princess I don't think it is odd to anyone that you like the PFF BeatleMike πŸ˜‰ - DisneyOnesie  621.2 #292 12:35PM
When it opened I made sure we ran right over to check it out. It was awesome to see what the imagineers did in that space and to see the Princesses finally have a real home. I was stoked on the Tangled show but it took me months to finally see it. I've seen the Beauty and the Beast one lots of times. Even when it's busy I always find that area calming. It's also where I almost met blue dress Belle lol - BeatleMike  582.7 #315 6:11PM
I haven't actually sat and watched either show - the sound system they use there hurts my head. I'm sure they are good shows I just can't take it. Which is strange because normally the sound quality at the parks is so good. - DisneyOnesie  621.2 #292 9:17PM
I've always say outside, never noticed it being off. Hopefully you can see them sometime, they can be funny - BeatleMike  582.7 #315 9:25PM
Thanks for another great Disney history lesson! I have to admit I've never actually checked this area out during the day when it's open, but we have watched Swing Dancing in the summertime evening's in that area.  I think it fits really well with the castle, I just miss the lack of crowds of CPG.  It was a nice peaceful place to take a breather out of the sun!  Not too many of those places left at DL!  - zenderella  408.9 #496 12:29PM
We were there. Love this little land. - Winnie111286  3183.1 #37 12:51PM
We were there also. Fun new area - Tealtownfan  974.4 #170 1:15PM

erinten and dumbbunny, of course we'll have soup roast and ice cream - BeatleMike  582.7 #315 11:51PM
Can't believe it's already a year...I miss CPG only because concert bands(mine included) from high schools and middle schools would perform there instead of the BTR stage...and it was a beautiful outdoor venue...but I do love Fantasy Faire! The shows are fantastic and very cute! πŸ˜„ Not to mention it's great to have a seperate, organized system of interacting with the princesses because near IASW was just a mess.  - aimeecaitlin  130.8 #2917 2:20PM
We love Fantasy Faire! We've seen both shows and they are great but we prefer Tangled. It's also great seeing the princesses in one place and they take time to talk to the kids - Ariel is especially wonderful and chatty! We even saw Mulan a few weeks ago! - 1tangledbelle  1.5 #60707 8:01PM
I can't believe it's been a year I was there a year ago with my family :-) - ajay87  156.1 #2529 9:20PM
I have a special place in my heart for the carnation plaza gardens since my junior high marching band played there! - WallSchmee  95.6 #3512 1:15AM
I love the fantasy faire! I especially love it at night when it's quiet and calm. My 2 criticisms...the inside area of meet and greet/hall is that it is way too dark and stuffy in there. As a designer the need for natural light in a space if you can have it is crucial and I think they really missed the mark on that. Stained glass or some beautiful iron windows would have been perfect...also I think rapunzels tower is way too small. I know it fits with the scale of everything but I think it could have been a little more grand. Anyway...sorry for the rant! Thanks for the awesome post! πŸ˜€πŸ˜˜ - missariel33  1946.9 #71 12:12AM

unFORECAST for the week of Monday April 20, 2015

CROWD PREDICTION: Back to short hours this week, and based on our Historical Crowd Index, we see mid-70s with crowds decreasing through the end of the month. There is also a chance of rain toward the end of the week which could throw a wrench in things. Friday and Sunday's have been the busiest days, but rain on Friday could cause the crowds to be significantly less. Have a great weekend! - Admin Apr 21, 2015 11:28AM

We have always noticed that Saturdays are better than Sundays! We always come on the weekend and say we want to leave at dinner time on Sunday, but always leave by 11-12 because there are so many people. We love Saturday!! - 1Princess3Princes  373.0 #559 5:39PM

http://cchealth.org/eh/retail-food/dog-law-faq.php Β  I know folks love theiri pets but I still do not think this is sanitary Β from a food perspective. See the url for CA law. Unless they provide a designated pet area outside, dogs cannot lick the plates/utensils, who cleans up after a dog accident......No pets in at a restaurant for now (service dogs are the exception). Disney is excellent with their food cleanliness in the parks per the Public health inspections. DTD does not fare as well per Retaurarant inspection. Check the Health Care Agency for the current restaurant inspections. As a Public health nurse I always check to see who is keeping clean in their kitchens.
