Good morning and happy New Years Eve! This day in Disney history December 31st;Disneyland welcomes it’s 10th millionth guest, a new year’s Eve party is held for the first time in Disneyland and a couple makes history for visiting the park everyday for an entire year!
1957: 5 year old Leigh Woolfenden, of Phoenix Arizona, becomes Disneylands 10th millionth guest! I searched for a photo but to no avail. Still a pretty neat milestone for Disneyland, having only been open less then 2.5 years!
Also in 1957, Disneyland host it’s very first New Years Eve Party! 7,500 guests attend the event! Today the annual celebration is one of the most popular events at Disneyland!
Have YOU been to a NYE party at the parks? What was your experience?
A look back at New Year’s Eve celebrations from various decades at Disneyland:
In addition, on this day in 2012: Jeff Reitz and Tonya Mickesh received a special welcome from Walt Disney Parks and resorts Chairman Tom Staggs. The couple are awarded a gift basket, certificates proclaiming them honorary citizens of Disneyland and a stay in the Disneyland Dream Suite! Jeff and Tonya visited Disneyland everyday in 2012! 366 trips including One More Disney Day (leap year celebration).
Jeff Reitz and Tonya Mickesh don’t have any children but decided to visit the parks daily as a way to pass the time while they searched for work.
"It was a way to keep ourselves occupied because we didn’t have jobs,’ Mickesh told the Orange County Register. ‘Originally, we thought we’d get jobs and stop doing it, but we kept it going."
Most days, the couple had a set routine to their visits. They would arrive early in the morning to beat the crowds and park in the Mickey & Friends car park.” (who calls it that? ::giggles::)
Highlights for the couple over the year included spending 24 hours in the park for the 24-hour Leap Day and watching the baby ducks in the park grow up. They also made friendship with the park staff and became known as the ‘everyday Disneyland couple.'
Mickesh’s favorite attraction is Pirates of the Caribbean, while for Reitz it’s the Matterhorn.
As well as enjoying the attractions, the daily trips also provided the couple with plenty of exercise and using a pedometer they figured out that they walked between two and four miles per visit.
Jeff Reitz, right, and Tonya Mickesh hold all their parking stubs for visiting Disneyland every day in 2012
How many visits did you rack up this year? I know some of you around here are lucky enough to live rather close to the parks. Thanks so much for sharing your photos with those of us that aren’t able to visit as often! It means SO much!
Thanks for reading and watching! I hope that each and everyone of you has a safe wonderful evening! Wishing you and yours a blessed 2014!

July was arguably one of the slowest months of the year (some say the Sunday on Independence Day Weekend was the slowest day of the year). However, we saw crowd levels rise Sat Aug 2, and they've been steady through today (Aug 5). With the Socal passes coming good Aug 18, we should see good crowds throughout the end of the month. - Admin Aug 5, 2014 2:23PM
Unforecast for Tuesday July 29th, there appears to be a bit of Christmas in July coming to LaBrea about 8 pm with lots of snow ( I wish) to cool us down. But lots of cool drinks and desserts if UTDisneyfamily cannot bring the cold air with them! Hope to see you all there!!! - secretagentangel Jul 28, 2014 5:49PM

So far this summer, Saturdays have been the quietest days of the week due to the Annual Passholder block outs. Today, wait times weren't too bad in both parks, with crowd indexes hovering around 60-70 at DL and 50-60 in DCA. - BaseballMickey_CM Jun 28, 2014 11:24PM
