Does anyone know about adding extra days to a 5-day park hopper ticket?

At that point, it may be wise to just purchase an Annual Pass of sorts. Discounts!! - misschurro  6362.5 #17 6:00PM

Yep.. go for the AP. You can apply the money from the 5 day to the AP price, and like everyone else said- you'll save money in the parks with discounts! - msflashie  18.3 #7707 10:51AM
agreed. do the math. Probably, actually cheaper to get annual pass. - Bobbierocha  19.7 #7395 9:16PM
Well  I understand the AP responses.  If I lived closer (from Colorado) I would happily go the AP route.  However, I only get out here maybe once each year to 18 months. Last year we were able to add an extra day to our park hoppers for like $15 if I remember correctly.  Now I have three more days here at the Grand Californian and cannot add any days to the 5 day park hopper.  If we knew they weren't doing this anymore, we would have booked only five nights here vs eight.  Now I will need to purchase another one or two day ticket to get back into the parks.  Not worth it by any stretch, especially with these crowds.  So we are probably going to check out early, argue for a three night refund (over $1600) and head to the St. Regis Dana Point or Hotel Del Coronado in SD for a few days to enjoy the rest of our time in Cali.  So much for the Disney Birthday trip for my son!  Oh well, live and learn. - dcaprio  66.5 #4257 12:06AM
When are you coming to the park? I'm more confused after reading your response. You had book eight days at the Grand but only five day park hoppers. Don't you think that upon purchasing the tickets that it was strange there was no offer for more than five day park hoppers? If I saw that I would have called customer service to find out the policies on adding extra days BEFORE paying for eight nights at the hotel. I'd like to think that being proactive will save you stress later on. Depending on when you were coming, $499 for Deluxe pass as opposed to $300 plus an additional $210 for two extra days of park hopper would make more sense. They were just trying to be helpful. Good luck on getting your money back on the hotel. I'm not sure on the policies regarding that. - missmimi90  2032.0 #76 12:23AM
if they won't refund your money, maybe think about renting a car and doing day trips to every where, and save your hopper for Monday, that day might be a bit better, even sunday.  or next Thursday??  if you are already here, then that might make the situation better.  there are a lot of aps on here from Colorado, but they do come twice a year.  maybe if you went down and talked to the concierge and just told him what the whole deal was, Disney always tries to help its guests as much as they can.  unfortunately if you are already here you would only be able to get  a premium to get in the park right now till January 1st and deluxe till the 6th when the Christmas Holidays are over. don't give up, and go talk to them with thinking they are there to help and maybe it will work out better for you.  love the Coronado by the way but hope you get to stay at DL. - secretagentangel  4658.8 #28 12:40AM
Hi missmimi90. We have been here since Sunday. Today was the last day of our five day hoppers.  We did ask about the five day passes and adding extra days when we booked this trip eight months ago and were told it would not be an issue if we went to the ticket booths between the parks before the tickets expired and added a day or two. In fact we were told the same thing this morn by a Guest Relations person doing a quick survey after entering Cali Adventure.  When we got to the ticket booth this morn just after speasking with this Guest Relations person we were told they no longer do this and we'd have to "start over" with new tickets.  Btw a deluxe pass is no good this week due to blackout dates.  Premier pass is too expensive for an extra day or two.  WD Travel will refund us the next few nights so we can stay at a nicer hotel.  The Grand is nice for convenient location to parks but definitely not a St. Regis/Four Seasons/Ritz for the price.  The lead I spoke to on the phone was extremely understanding and offered the refund without me even asking for it. She also informed me that these policies change frequently and not all CMs are up on all of these changes.  She also explained the reason for only five day passes was due to people "renting" longer passes on Craigslist and eBay.  Sounds like some dishonest people were adding days inexpensively and then selling them to others online for profit. Well, anyway, this has been disappointing although we did get a refund for the remaining nights. We would have definitely preferred an extra day in the parks. And thank you MWers for the good wishes! - dcaprio  66.5 #4257 1:30AM
glad it worked out for you , just hope for your sake they have some reservations.  I love the Coronado but dana point is a fun place to be too..  yes, the cheats on ebay and everywhere really hurt people, a lot of people "rented" those tickets only to be turned away at the gate.  we saw a few families get the bad news and it was painful, crying children, angry parents.  I am glad they are stopping it but for out of staters I wish they had a longer package so you could stay longer. - secretagentangel  4658.8 #28 1:48AM
Have a great trip - MermaidHunter  141.3 #2865 12:40PM
Secretagentangel,Thanks for your words of encouragement.  The Coronado and St. Regis Monarch Beach both have availability for the weekend and either would be wonderful and relaxing.  We do have a nice rental car so travel isn't an issue and either isn't too far from Orange County Airport for our flight back to CO on Sunday night.  Yes it would be nice to offer a longer pass like they did a year or two ago (I think I remember up to 7 or 8 day hoppers) but I guess that is to neutralize the scammers.  Thanks again! - dcaprio  66.5 #4257 2:01AM
It really was a disappointment when they went to 5 day tickets as we are from Colorado also and we like to spend 6 or 7 days in the park. We ended up buying APs as we can travel during non peak times - kskating  689.8 #287 4:17AM
We knew we were going at least 6 days last year, so we bought the AP.  Because of that, we have been 9 so far and plan on more before the AP expiration date.  And live in NorCal  - MermaidHunter  141.3 #2865 8:41AM
