Hello! I leave my home on Wednesday for California for the first time ever and have a question about weather. So I'm coming from the arctic where I can handle -30c or lower but I saw that hats, mittens and scarves are on sale for the skating. Just how cold does +20c feel? I can't imagine wearing anything but shorts with that temp!

It's SoCal Babe!  From where you're coming - this will be tropical!  Sweatshirt & jeans!!! - Sfarrell  97.7 #3630 7:27AM
Tropical for sure! I'm coming from Yellowknife, NWT Canada. I can't wait! We are visiting San Diego zoo first this Wednesday and I was a little disappointed they are making 6500sq ft of snow to slide on. My husband positively told me "well at at least you can slide in your t-shirt. Lol... Then I saw people wearing hats to stay warm! - SallyC  9.8 #11174 7:34AM
SallyC, being originally from Vancouver Island, (obviously nowhere near as cold as the NWT) it's gonna feel pretty darn balmy.  Maybe bring along a pair of gloves just in case you fall on the ice.  Otherwise, I think jeans and sweatshirt will do the trick. - TiggersAndTinks  171.0 #2393 7:45AM
Welcome to MW πŸ‘‹your gonna have a great time! - MinnieMyLove  207.3 #1905 8:04AM
Us SoCal natives are cold when it's 68 outside,  so that's why we need hats and gloves to skate :)    Enjoy your visit and safe travels!  - breathe_in_the_happiness  879.2 #207 8:09AM
Okay, so I'll put away my bikini (sigh) and am looking forward to the autumn-ish feeling weather! I'm doing my excited dance right now!  - SallyC  9.8 #11174 8:10AM
Hi SallyC. My sister lives in Alaska and when I have to wear a cost she thinks it is warm when she comes down to California - E-Ticket  1466.9 #115 8:54AM
Thanks! I am going to start packing today. I know I know I don't leave until Wednesday but I can't wait!  - SallyC  9.8 #11174 8:57AM
Hi Sally, we are from Saskatchewan and have found when we visit (in february) that we are warm enough for t-shirts and possibly capris when the sun is out, otherwise a hoodie or light jacket does the trick! Hope you have lots of fun! - MJmouse  288.9 #982 9:09AM
I went to Victoria, BC in January two winters ago and was freezing at -1. It's a 'different' cold everyone says lol. I'm going to pack light and if I have to shop - gasp- I'm so shopping up a storm! - SallyC  9.8 #11174 9:33AM
Lol, when I was a kid, we visited relatives in Montana during the spring--my mom was bundling my sister and I up, and our relatives were breaking out the shorts and flip flops and planning on going to the lake for the "heat wave."  Haha!  It could rain, so you'll definitely want to bring jackets and boots, but you will probably be very comfortable in jeans and tshirts with sweaters/sweatshirts in the evening.   - Spoonful_O_Sugar  613.1 #331 9:25AM
Thank you so much for the info!  - SallyC  9.8 #11174 9:35AM
It's not that cold here to me, but everyone is different! - sawman911  2490.9 #58 9:54AM
