Good morning! This day in Disney history, November 28th: Thanksgiving day in 1958, The cast of Zorro appears at Disneyland!
Zorros appearance is part of a four day event which includes a parade and live performances. This is the third time this year the cast had been seen at Disneyland. Zorro Days at Disneyland occurred only five times, each for a single weekend. There were three Zorro weekends in 1958, one in 1959, and a final one in 1960. I included photos from all the events as it was the best way for you to get an idea of what went on. Each Zorro Weekend had three basic components: a parade featuring Zorro, a stunt show featuring Zorro, and a stage show in Magnolia Park where (late in the day) Zorro crossed swords with children, many of whom came to the park dressed in black capes and masks.
Below, Guy Williams as Zorro jumping from the Golden Horseshoe Revue building roof during the show.
Here, the excitement continues as Williams can be seen dueling with Zorro’s nemesis, Captain Monasterio, on top of the Mark Twain Riverboat!
In this photo, Mr. Williams can be seen riding his horse near the entrance to Frontierland. It must have been pretty exciting for Zorro fans to see their hero up close in the park!
Guy Williams with who I think is the actor who played the Monasterio character in the first season, isn't it? Can anyone confirm?
My absolute favorite photo I found from my research ::giggles::. After the show, Guy Williams signed autographs for his young fans at Disneyland.
The video below is from the Disney History Institute there are actually two different films of Zorro Days edited together. The main segment in this video, the stunt show, comes from a 1958 performance, while the parade footage comes from a November appearance in 1959.
Did you notice the Christmas decorations draped above Main Street?
And the second one below was posted on youtube by someone who seems to be the son of Guy Williams. Great family shots at the end of Guy Williams with his wife.
Notice anything about the park back then? How about how the celebrities were treated?
Thanks so much for reading and watching! Hope you all have a terrific Turkey day tomorrow! Just so you know, I'm thankful for all of YOU! :)

Disneyland unFORECAST (BETA) is here! Top MouseWaiters giving you the rundown of what's happening at the Disneyland Resort. The unFORECAST now has its own page on the web www.unFORECAST.com
unFORECAST for the week of August 24, 2015 Summer is over, according to the Disneyland Resort calendar. Hours have been reduced for the first time since summer began (Disneyland & DCA closes at 10pm M-TH). Most Orange County schools are back in session today, which usually points to smaller crowds. Looking back at MouseWait's Historical Crowd Index (available in our new MagicPlan iOS Calendar), this week last year averaged in the low 60s (approx 60% capacity) -- it even dipped into the 50s on some days. This data points to lower crowds this week. If you've been waiting for the summer madness to end, this might be your week to hit the Parks! To get a real-time look at crowd levels, check the MouseWait App for Crowd Index averages and wait times. Have a great week! - Admin Aug 24, 2015 11:03AM
