Hey all! So my Diz story started almost 47 years ago... Which means you CAN teach an old dog new tricks! Heehee! Anyhoo, my parents met at The Park in the late 1960s when they were both working there and ended up getting married, which is amazing when you consider that at that time they segregated the employees by gender and did not "allow" them to date ( ask me about my parents' cool stories at a meetup sometime!). So I quite LITERALLY grew up inside Disneyland when they would take me with them starting as a baby when they would go pick up their paychecks, or my grandmother would be with me in the park waiting for my mother to get off her shift because my parents only had one car, etc. The very first movie I ever saw in a theatre was a showing of Bambi in the Fantasyland Theater which used to be in the space that the Pinoccio ride is in now. My entire life I have only lived within 20 minutes of The Park and I even went to high school across the street from the original Harbor Blvd main entrance, when there was a high school literally right next to the Howard Johnson hotel. So....Disneyland is everything nostalgic and good about my childhood, literally. It is not an amusement park to me....it is a member of my family. I have had park passes for as long as they have been available. And then ....Mouse Wait happens. I did not know the extent of good people whose souls were just as entrenched in this magical place as mine has been. It's like discovering siblings you did not know you had. All of my coworkers, friends and neighbors always made fun of me for going there so often. And I no longer have to guess about the crowd levels and if it's worth running over for the evening or not ( I know, poorly worded....it's ALWAYS worth it, right?). I've been lurking on here much more than I have posted, but that was because the beautiful angel that was my grandmother, the one who was my original Disney playmate, was ill, needed my care, and passed away a few months ago. She would walk me around Disneyland just to look at the pretty flowers sometimes. Thank you SO MUCH to those of you who saw my post at the time and dropped a penny in the wishing well by the castle in her memory. You will never know how happy you made this girl. Now every time we are in The Park, we drop a penny for her. Every time. -Tonya
