Long post alert!!! So I really wanted to post this the last couple of
days but was too tired to write a novel. So after this long weekend of
Run Disney events, I was at first annoyed and have been for some months
about the all of a sudden increased popularity of the Disney races and
how difficult it had become over the past 9 months to sign up for an
event but my annoyance turned to joy after this weekend. I have been
into heath and fitness since high school and its always been a big part
of my life and for the most part always been pretty fit. I had done my
fair share of marathons before my days of joining MouseWait but the year
before I joined MouseWait I had been in a bike accident on the
boardwalk in Newport and broke my ankle and cracked my wrist in 3
places that required two surgeries and was in a cast for over 10
months. I had gained quite a bit of weight during that time that
carried over until 3 years ago until I decided after a year plus of
being injuried and at about 50 pounds hevier than I am now that I wanted
to do the Disney marathon for the first time in 2 years and my good
friend who some know YTheRum Ryan, wanted to do it also...That training
regiment that the both of us did separately and working up to this event
and the next has really turned both our lives around like no other.
Since then I have lost 50 pounds, I have a body fat percentage of
17percent and still working to lower that, the increaed energy levels,
my mental state of happiness and a fitness level that I have never
expeinced in all my years. 3 years ago and in years past when I finshed a
half martathon I could not walk down stairs and was in pain for days
and could not run for a week plus. Now days, no pain, worked out for
hours yesterday and today and ready for more!! I'm amazed at how good I
feel these days and still have a lot of work to do to reach a lot of my
fitness goals but am determined! The reason whey I am telling you all of
this is because I really have seen a lot of people the past year plus
do something that they never thought they were able to do in running a
half marathon, running a 10K or 5K, it really does not matter which one
it is as for a lot us the accomplishment is no bigger than the other.
During this time I cant tell you how many people I know that have turned
over a new stone in life and really made running and living a healthy
lifestyle that was all started by the desire to run a Disney
marathon...Its no secret that a lot of people would never have ever
thought of running a race in their life but they really wanted to for a
few big reasons, number one being they wanted to run through the parks
and experience that, the second big one was seeing that their peers were
doing it and it gave them the courage to want to do it! The amount of
support that goes on in here has honestly been overwhelming for those of
us who are running a marathon for their first time or their 10th time.
Its because of a lot of you that for the first time since I joined
MouseWait that after the race I ran into so many people I know and I was
proud of every single one of them. It doesnt matter if you finished the
race in 150 or 350 or did not finish at all you still tried and did
your best and nobody can take that away from you. When you dig deeper
its really not a race at all but trying to accomplish something for
yourself and yourself only.,,,To bring it all back to what I was saying
at the beginning, I was annoyed at how hard it was to join a Run Disney
race but I'm ok with that because what I have really realized is that
Disney has gotten folks that normaly would never do soemthing like this
to do it and train and try and live a healthy and active lifestyle and I
support that 120%...Congrats to all the runners this year and hope that
we seem some more new faces come TinkerBelle this January!!

Throughout the week, expect CIs to be in the high 60s to low 80s for Disneyland Park and in the low 70s to low 80s for DCA.
