Jul 18, 2013 5:45 PM  Disneyland Talk Land
***CLOSED***Very special #RAK here. After much deliberation since yesterday, I decided to rak off my Disneyland 58th anniversary pin to one lucky person. Rules for this RAK are slightly strange so bare with me. 1) must have 258 MW rank minimum (celebrating my over 200 and 58 for the birthday). 2) What is your first memory at Disneyland? 3) this is open to international and US MWers. 4) You can add for others but the cap is at 3 adds (and the person you are adding for needs to meet the criteria too). A name will be picked 7/28! Good luck!

This is a lot of fun reading everyone's stories! My earliest memory is waiting in line to call my mom from one of the giant phone booths. Does anyone else remember these? Essentially, they held four to six people, so my friends could join in, and I talked to my mom on a speaker phone. Wow, what a concept, huh? No pesky phone cords to get in the way and hands-free convenience, too! I'm pretty sure our coversations went something like this each time: "Hi, Mom!" "Hi, hon. Are you having fun?" "Yes. (giggle) We're in the phone booths again!" "You are? Well, hi girls!" "HI" "Ok, Mom, we're going to go on rides." "Ok, I'll pick you up later in front of the ticket booths. Look for our car." "Ok, Mom. Bye!" "Bye, honey. Have fun!" "We will! (giggle) Bye!" - susieQzee  555.7 #334 6:30PM
Oh, yeah....add me, please! Thanks, and good luck to everyone! - susieQzee  555.7 #334 6:31PM

What?? This is super generous!!! My first memory at Disneyland is going on Adventures Thru Inner Space. ( I've been going since I was a baby but have a terrible memory, lol!) I remember going on that attraction with my parents and watching people "shrink" as we waited in the queue. When it was our turn, I really thought we shrunk down magically....ahhh, the memories! πŸ˜‚ Thanks again for this very generous RAK!!!! πŸ‘πŸ˜ƒ - GheeButtersnaps  377.6 #551 5:52PM

Sweet--thank you both! πŸ˜‰ - GheeButtersnaps  377.6 #551 6:14PM
Hurray for GheeButtersnaps! And just to share one of my first memories is walking down Main Street and being absolutely captivated by the crystal and glass shop. I still get all giddy when I step in there, although it could be the fact that I have a whirlwind for a two year old that I have to keep an eye on when we go inside 😊 - ribidib  1177.7 #133 6:19PM
Please add me for MadameLeota. I know she wanted that pin but didn't make it to DL to get one. My earliest memory is when I was prob 4 or 5. I remember sitting on Main Street, waiting for the MSEP. I was in one of those old green strollers they used to have. My younger sister got out of it, so I decided to sit in it. I was eating popcorn and I dropped it on the ground. I remember crying hysterically!! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I have a picture of it somewhere!!! Awesome RAK and this is really kind of you!!! - caramiapoohAKAface  3662.4 #33 6:45PM

Great RAK! My first memory is a time I went with my girlfriend and we both. Got these long stuffed snakes and carried them around all day! I think it was in 1965. I was 13. Add me please!! - Sandy  245.8 #1326 3:24AM
Minimum point requirement is 258. I'll add you if you have it by the time the rak ends! - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 1:50PM
Ah, this is so very generous of you! I had people looking high and low for this pin and they were already sold out. Please add me. My first memory of Disneyland was our family trip when I was 8. Our favorite ride was the old Star Tours. We went on that over and over. A lot has changed since then, but the magic is the same. I am reminded of that every time I take my boys. Thank you again for this RAK. It is very kind of you to offer it to someone else. - goofymom2boys  1458.4 #101 6:02PM
Great first memory. Sorry you couldn't find them when you got there. Added! - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 6:08PM
As much as I like this pin and would love to have it, I really think it should go to BaseballMickey_CM. Can you please change my add? Thank you again for offering this RAK :) - goofymom2boys  1458.4 #101 7:15AM
Doh, I just saw that he already has 3 adds. Well, can you disregard my request to change my add and if I win, I will just send it to him? Thx! - goofymom2boys  1458.4 #101 7:17AM
Works for me goofymom2boys! You can add for yourself and send to others. I have the three add limit per person so it doesn't get too lopsided - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 1:44PM
You are loverly. Might I take a chance? Don't laugh too hard at me. I remember getting all in trouble with a welch's grape juice I spilled all over myself. 😳 Boy was my dad mad at me. He passed away a year ago almost exactly a year ago. I was in so much trouble. I ugly cried. Later that day I freaked out in the Pirateland cruise. Skeletons skurrrrrred me! Hahaha what a dork I was. And still am. Thank you for doing this and thank you for your consideration. - Butterlina  1525.4 #98 6:03PM
That gave me a cAse of the giggles! Thank you for that as I am feeling slightly under the weather today. Added! - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 6:09PM
Thank you very much. Can I help you at all with your icky feeling? - Butterlina  1525.4 #98 6:10PM
Butterlina your comedic factor here could cure cancer. Just keep doing what your doing! - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 6:18PM
Stay hydrated, get some rest, and I'll do some French Model catwalk wizardry. - Butterlina  1525.4 #98 6:19PM
This is very generous of you! I tried to get this yesterday, but they were all out :( so please add me! My first memory of Disneyland is watching Electrical Parade while sitting in the stroller on a cold December night. - BaseballMickey_CM  6965.3 #9 6:03PM
That seemed to be the case for a lot of people. Seems by 12 they were all gone. I wish I could have seen the ELP. Maybe one day! - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 6:11PM
Please add me for BBM! My first memory of Disneyland is being absolutely amazed by Tinkerbelle flying in the sky during the fireworks. This was when she only took one trip across the wire and I must have been about 6 ish, but I was amazed. My mom always tried to get me in a position so I could see her. Now as an adult I'm still amazed when she flys around, except now she's flung all around the sky! I try to give my daughters the best view I can of this, as I'm hoping it's as magical for them as it was for me. Good luck BBM! And thank you Missmimi90 for this generous RAK! - tballzz  555.5 #335 7:08PM
^thank you! - BaseballMickey_CM  6965.3 #9 7:24PM
Added tballzz for BaseballMickey_CM! - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 9:25PM

Thank you so much HMF! You're the best. - SpiritOfAdventure  1034.3 #164 6:30PM
Add me please. My first and favorite memory is riding POTC with my Granny. We all told her there were these huge drops and she had to put her hands up the whole time. She did it!! then scolded us for fibbing to her. Thank you!! - MissyluvsDisneyland  362.0 #585 6:11PM
Lol what a great memory! Added! - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 6:13PM
This is so generous. I was going to add myself for my daughter, who is a first year CM. I would like to add myself for BaseballMickey_CM instead. Of all people not to get the pin!!! My first memory is falling off the tram with a face plant when I was 3 or 4. I'm sure it wasn't moving, but not a great start to the day. After that, my mother freaked out every time we rode the tram. Thank you for doing this. - snowwannab  728.8 #231 6:13PM
Awh were you ok? Added for BB_CM! - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 6:15PM
Yes, probably more embarassed. In those days the tram seats faced out, not forward. I'm old! - snowwannab  728.8 #231 6:25PM

I wish I could have experienced that. Added! - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 6:22PM
My first memory was being picked up by the tram when DCA used to be a parking lot. I was so excited to go because Disneyland looked cool from the lot but I had no idea what was inside the gates. Once we went in, I was hooked. Please add me. Thanks!😊 - chelle1318  415.0 #491 6:31PM

Thank you! - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 6:47PM
Please add me. My first memory from Disneyland is from when I was probably six (maybe a little younger or older) and my parents waking me up early, not telling me where we were going we drove up there and (this is when there was still the big drive under Disneyland sign/arch.) I saw the sign and started bouncing around the car. I remember parking and taking the tram in (when you faced out towards the street still lol) This was when the Lion King parade was going on too and I was chosen to play one of the instruments that they passed out to some kids to play along to the parade music with. It was a great family trip! - starwarsmamma  561.6 #329 6:45PM
What an awesome family trip and memory! Added! - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 6:48PM

Lots of little memories! Added! - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 9:07PM
Awesome RAK! Please add me. My first memory of Disneyland is from when I was 4. I stopped to adjust my shoe, looked up, and couldn't find my parents. I went into full blown panic mode, certain I would never see them again. After what seemed like an eternity, but was really like 15 seconds, my mom rushed over and gave me a hug. We rode Peter Pan, and all was right with the world. Thank you for the amazing RAK! - Atora  2565.9 #45 7:17PM

Lol ah nothing like hearing cussing at the happiest place on earth! Added for Gheebuttersnaps! - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 9:11PM
Please add me for BBM_CM. I don't really remember my first trip to Disneyland, but I remember a picture from it because it was up in our Mickey Mouse bathroom for years. My first memory from Disneyland happened as our trip ended and we were trying to head to the airport. Our rental car got a flat tire on the way, but we didn't have time to wait for them to come get us. We had to leave the car at a hotel and catch a taxi. We just barely made our flight! As for a Disney memory, I kind of remember riding Indiana Jones in 98. - IDVandalSkipperCM  2357.7 #53 8:13PM
Oh... And thank you! - IDVandalSkipperCM  2357.7 #53 8:27PM

Great idea for a RAK please add me. One of my earliest memories is riding on Space Mnt with my mom and her screaming the whole time. - Apples2  584.0 #319 8:28PM
I'm surprised my boyfriend didn't do the same. He told me that was first time ever being on space mountain (and he had been going since the late 70's). Added - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 9:14PM
Add me please! The earliest memories I can recall are waiting to watch either the lion King or Aladdin parade with my mom, and being sick and a CM telling her to wake me up because the parade was about to start. Then leaving early, and watching Pinnochio in my parents room πŸ˜‚. I have a ton of others since we had passes at the time, but that's the one where I can somewhat pinpoint how early it was. Thank you :) - MEHlanie_Mouse  1114.5 #144 8:30PM
Awh lol what a cute memory to have! Added! - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 9:15PM

I wish I could have experienced that! Added! - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 9:15PM
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this amazing RAK! Since the death of my parents, Disneyland has become my happy place. My first memory of Disneyland was POTC and IASW. I was only 18 months when my mom took me on our way to the states from Guam. I clearly remember these 2 attractions. My mom bought me the IASW record and I remember playing it over and over. Please add me and thank you for your generosity and kindness. - LaPearleNoir  1529.9 #97 8:35PM
Oh my gosh! I remember getting the Small World record when I was a girl too. Pretty sure I still have it! What a treasured memory! - MeridaFan  3529.0 #36 8:43PM
Oh boy IASW over and over? God bless you and I am sure your parents are so happy they instilled the love of Disney in you! Added! - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 9:16PM
Add me please. We missed this in the park yesterday. Got there too late. My first memory is waiting in line for opening weekend of Space Mountain. It was a very long line. When we got near the front they had those "chicken out" exits. I wanted to chicken out at the last exit. My mom said "no way...we waited in this long line...we are going on it." I loved it and still love it. - DLKenCA  2173.4 #60 8:45PM
Haha sounds like something my father would say! Added! - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 9:17PM
No need to add me. Just wanted to say what an awesome gesture this is. You're a fabulous MWer. Someone will be quite happy to win this. Good luck, everyone! - DisneyFan77  759.0 #222 9:11PM

I loved that show! - MrsGrumpy2002  203.4 #1869 7:21AM
Please add me 😊 My first memory of Disneyland is when I was 17 and pregnant with my son. My father wasn't financially able to take my brother and I to places like DL, so that was why I hadn't ever been before that. My Uncle took a road trip from back East and he took my father, brother and myself to DL. It was magic!! I will always be greatful to my Uncle Mike, who BTW was called Uncle Mickey after that. Uncle Mickey passed away this year, and I know that without his generosity I probably wouldn't have been able to have such a wonderful time with my family. Love ya Uncle Mickey!!!!πŸ‘Ό - 2BeignetOrNot2Beignet  1125.9 #142 9:17PM
Beautiful memory to have! Added! - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 9:28PM

I just remember being so overwhelmed with everything I saw beneath me - sunshinegrl  348.8 #621 9:46PM
What an awesome RAK! Please add me. My first memory was probably when I was 4 or 5 riding dumbo and trying to stand up to look at my friends mom who was riding in the dumbo behind me. I don't remember if there were seat belts back then (early 70's) but my friends mom still tells this story about how I almost tried to fly like dumbo . Thanks again - DSNYCheeks3  866.1 #193 9:57PM
Ah before lawsuits were prevalent! Lol great first memory! Added! - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 10:05PM
Wow!!! Such a generous RAK! Please add me. One of my earliest memories was riding in the Skyway with my family for the first time. We boarded from Tomorrowland for a ride to Fantasyland. I loved just watching the sights and sounds of the park from above. I think that is when I fell in love and Disney really became magical for me. It was also the first time seeing the abominable snowman....I heard his roars in the Matterhorn and did not know what to expect. Luckily Harold did not jump into our Skybucket. Awh early memories! Added! - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 11:27PM
These pins were gone by 10am a CM said when I went on wednesday. Thank you for a chance at one. My very first memory was when I was 3 years old. My mom won some tickets and we went to disneyland during Christmas. There was only one park back then (1963). We entered the park and I saw the biggest Christmas tree I had ever seen. It was flocked and smelled wonderful. They used a real pine tree back then. I know I posted it a year or so ago. I could go on as it was such a great day. Enter me please. - Plumiegirl  8850.3 #3 11:33PM
Wonderful first memory! I wish I had more to rak off. I got this one at 9am and checked back after lunch and they were long gone! Added! - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 11:36PM
Add me please. I cannot make it there due to my move at DC Metro area... My first memory of Disneyland will be my 1st trip there, May 2009. My family celebrated Mother's Day and my Sister's Birthday. Also, it was my first trip outside of San Diego after my accident (that is why no dizzifying rides for me that time). I AM AMAZED THE FIRST TIME I STEP INSIDE THE PARKS! I FEEL LIKE "Love At First Sight". (Side note, it was the last year they offer 3-Day park hopper for free for military members and $99 for guest. For my sis ticket, we just upgraded her free entrance coz of her bday month). THANK YOU FOR THIS RAK! - otilegna  2160.4 #62 11:35PM
Side note: i dream of visiting disneyland when i was in grade school in the philippines (haha) - otilegna  2160.4 #62 11:36PM
Awh it must have been so magical to finally go to Disneyland! Added and good luck with your move! - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 11:40PM

What a wonderful RAK! Please add me for BaseballMickeyCM. My first memory of Disneyland was waiting for what seemed like hours to watch the parade on Main Street. Being a dancer, I dreamed of one day dancing in the parade!! It was magical as a child! - EpicDio  453.2 #444 7:38AM
BaseballMickey_CM has his max amount of adds already. You can add for yourself or someone else who hasn't hit limit. - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 1:42PM
So sweet of you to RAK it off! My first memory of the parks was my first visit when I was 7. We drove down the 101 from NorCal and I remember being SO excited to go and see the Mouse. When we got there, I remember being so excited as we walked down main street, but terrified when we went on Pirates! Thanks for the add! :) - KylaShea  632.7 #287 8:12AM
Awh great memory! Added! - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 1:44PM
What a generous RAK.. Please add me.. This isn't my first memory but definitely one of my favorites, my grandma was diagnosed with bone cancer but made the trip from Modesto to take me to Disneyland one last time I believe I was 12.. It was pouring that day but it didn't matter we still went and had a great time!! I will never forget this see passed away when I was 14 she was only 60.. Thank u so much for this wonderful RAK!! - CinderellE-79  947.7 #175 8:53AM

Thank you so much for your generosity. That's very touching. Add me please and thank you! My first memory, my first trip, was the summer of 1978. I was 10. The ticket books were still in use and Space Mountain was the newest attraction. My older cousin and I - MamaRoo  466.6 #425 9:32AM
...stood and sat in the longest line, in the summer heat, for 2-3 hours to ride. I couldn't wait to get in line again. I loved it. - MamaRoo  466.6 #425 9:38AM

Thankyou for this RAK! Please add me :) my favorite memory was the first time I got to go as an adult with my boyfriend. Everyone always said the disneyland was so romantic, but getting to share it with my loved one was so special. We since have gone to disneyland another time and have planned a trip to Disneyworld in January with our pal dkkrueger! :) thanks for the RAK - lohofosho  784.9 #212 11:06AM

Please add me! My first memory was going when I was a little girl in the early 60's my dad bought me a balloon and I loved it! Last year my dad got me a light up balloon:) I tried to get this pin for my dad but I had to work so I missed getting it. Thanks - lovesminnie  704.8 #242 11:22AM

Please add me for deltachiq since I already had left the store and couldnt go back and get her one. My memory is going on snow white with mads, she was 5 and so terrified of everything on the ride. - madsdad  1847.2 #77 2:01PM
I bet she loves it now! Added for Deltachiq - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 2:27PM
Wow this pin is awesome. What a generous RAK. Please add me. My earliest memories are walking into the park. I remember parking right in front of the gates and having to remember what character section we parked in. Alrhough i don't remember, I'm thankful my parents have pics of my first time at Disneyland when I was 11 months old. :) Thanks! - DizPrincess_Sam  309.9 #783 2:06PM
That's awesome to have pictures of your memories. Added! - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 2:34PM
Please add me for BaseballMickey_CM. My earliest memory is the ballroom scene of HM. I was scared to death of everything (I was 4) and had my dad's jacket over my head on every attraction including iasw! But I mustered up the bravery and took the jacket off to look at that scene. I can still vividly remember it, and to this day I have to sit up and lean forward to admire it every single time! - SPandEvLover  3608.7 #35 2:18PM
BaseballMickey_CM has hit his 3 add limit. You can add for yourself or someone else who meets the requirements if you like - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 2:37PM

You got it! - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 4:01PM
Please add me. My first memory was only two years ago, but I have been wanting to go since I was a kid. I used to watch the Disneyland Sing a Long Songs tape over and over so I was super excited. I went with my boyfriend who grew up in Socal. He's been many times before so he knew the drill of going on the big rides first and getting FPs so when we walked in the park, we were off to Space right away. I knew that we would have time to explore later, but I was so sad to be zipping through the park without stopping to look. It was a dream come true and the whole day was just amazing, doing and seeing things I've only seen on tv. We got our APs that night! - Sarafina  488.6 #397 2:44PM
Sounds similar to my first trip. I went with my boyfriend and he planned it out well! Added! - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 3:29PM

It's my version of minis (even though most people here aren't minis lol). I would have said children of the corn but I restrained myself - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 6:05PM
Please add me. My first memory is of me reaching up and squeezing one of the three little pigs noses. I was two. Only other memory from that trip is peeing on my dads' lap. When your 2 and you need to go you need to go! Great RAK! - verolly  830.0 #199 6:40PM
Lol I have been peed on before by babies. It happens. Great diet memory (with the pigs not the pee lol) added - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 6:45PM

Final bump. Closing this rak at 8pm! - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 1:18PM
Please add me πŸ˜‹ my earliest memory was my first visit to WDW - my older sister and I wore matching tee shirts and were able to meet most of the characters- I recall being glued to my autograph book, and cherishing it as if it were sacred (it obviously was ;)) I remember my dad putting me on his shoulders to view the parade and sharing my thrills of excitement with him :) - Mad_Tea_Party  1108.2 #149 2:48PM
What a wonderful memory to have! Added! - missmimi90  1865.3 #76 2:57PM
Thank you for doing this very generous and thoughtful RAK. Being a MW'er you know how desired this pin is by many and it's very kind of you to give someone a chance to have one! That being said , please add me. My first memory of DL was when I was 19 years old . I had just bought my first car all on my own and I drove it from the dealership straight to DL !! Lol ! I had always wanted to go so badly .... I just remember through the arches and seeing the beauty of Main Street , the sights , the smells .... I was seriously addicted at that point to DL . My first ride was POC and I was amazed ! Still am to this day ! Thank you again for your generosity ! Good luck everyone 😊 - eviljules  1194.4 #131 2:59PM

This so sweet of you! I would give this pin a great home here! My first memory of Disneyland is when I was 26 on my first visit ever and just walking in and seeing sleeping beauty's castle my jaw dropped for over 10 min my jaw was just a gasped. I imagined what it would look like in Disneyland as a kid but the whole atmosphere just exceeded my expectations. I will have this and many other memories for the rest of my life. Thank you for reading and holding this RAK! Good luck to all who enter! - PrincessDaisy  307.7 #803 3:34PM
