A long time ago in a Galaxy far far away was a theme park called Disneyland. In the 1990s Disneyland had a major drop in regualr attendance to Disneyland and only offered one type of pass, a premium pass that was 150 then raised to 200 for only ONE park. Because of the declining attendance and lack of Annual Passholders flocking to the parks, mind you these were the days where the was no Rancho Santa Margarita, Irvine was still pretty much fields, no irvine spectrum, everything north of the 15, 91 was cows and no homes, you get what I'm saying they started to do promos and new pass levels to incite people to get to the parks more and even did such things as nighttime shopping passes during Christmas, then the famous 2fer tickets. Well Disney really thought that opening a second park would really boost attendance and be a big smash hit and we all know how that went for 10 years. They did everything they could to get people to come to the parks and created 99 dollar passes, get in free on your bday, give a day get a day, they had promos all year around esp for the locals to just get people in the door for a mediocre experience. From the time frame of 2000 to 2011 Disneyland opened two new attractions buzzlight year and Nemo which pretty much was a refurb of an old attraction. They actually had closed down restaurants in the parks, there were no major of any of the lands, two new parades no new stage shows, reduction in characters in the park and a new firework show for the 50th that they still use. Then you have DCA over that time frame..What happened over there, nothing at all for the most part, it was the same park that lacked in every possible category and the only entertainment they had was the Aladdin show and some street performers and the only thing that could draw locals was brining back ELP but as soon as that was over they left. .These were the final years for Eisner...Since 2010 here is what we have been given...Carsland, 3 attractions, two shows 5 characters. Buena Vista Street featuring two shows, street characters and the fab 5 and a 4 star dining experience, World of color, The Little Mermaid attraction, 3 atmosphere shows, daily live music at the paradise gardens, a refrub off all the entire area, Redwood creek also got a nice redo and updated to get rid of that Brother Bear movie that nobody has seen and replaced it with a Pixar hit of UP with a stage show....Then lets go over to Disneyland....Since 2010 we have a brand new Star Tours experience, new summer time firework show, Princess Fantasy fair, 6 daily character shows, a new parade that is actually very good, a brand new wonderful stage show Mickeys map, diferent celebrations each month for such things as Greek, Valentines, etc etc (BTW those wont be limited time magic next year they will be part of new traditions). Now that DCA is finally where they want it your going to start hearing about more new things unveiled this summer for Disneyland like the new Tomorowland and other things as well....Pretty much everyone was conditioned to pay a lower price for sub-par product and now you are getting 300% more band for your buck with all of the new things the parks have to offer Well now the parks are at a place where the demand to get in is at an all time high and its both parks. Not only are you locals wanting to come at record numbers but people are traveling from all over the world again to visit the parks because there is something here again that makes people want to visit. For fun and games, go look on the AP website and take the number of visits you have made in a year and divide it by the total price of your Annual pass, its pretty low for a lot of us who go a lot. For instance if I go 100 times a year its about 6.79 dollars a visit., not bad!! I know its not easy for a lot of us continue to get passes as it keeps increasing but you have to take a look at some of what I said. The demand out weighs the supply and increasing prices is the only way to cut back attendance and make your visits more enjoyable while at the same time they can keep coming up with new exciting shows and attractions that keep us coming back year after year and not leaving us with a stale product. I guess we should all be grateful that we live in Southern California and are surrounded by so many other things to do such as enjoy the beaches, the parks we have, the mountains, Knots, Magic Mountain, Sea World, the zoo the banana stand,...Ok I have writer cramp - Dave  12452.6 #2 10:54AM
I have readers cramp. πŸ‘€ That was a lot. - Waites4DodgerEars_CM  995.6 #169 10:56AM
That's exactly what I was thinking! Word for word! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ No but seriously, that is very well put and VERY true! - SPandEvLover  3490.3 #34 11:03AM
We don't live in SoCal but if APs were cheaper we would have them every year. But they're not, which is a bummer on one hand but I feel lucky to be able to go to DL at all...I really do. Of course I wish APs were cheaper but it really is Supply/Demand just like you explained earlier. So to me it makes sense even though I'm not excited about it. I am impressed with this write up BTW, very thorough. 😊 - MinnieMousewife  868.7 #188 11:07AM
THISπŸ‘†!!!! Perfectly stated! Yes, increases are tough, but you get what you pay for. It is unfortunate that it will cause a strain for some...but remember that there are people who have NEVER experienced DL. Gas prices go up, food prices go up, car prices go up....it's life! And yes to figure out your # of visits in one year. Then ask yourself "is it worth it". Consider how much you spend on movies, Starbucks, per year...when you add it all up, was it worth it? - Gia  802.0 #206 11:10AM
Can we tack a comment to top of the page? This says it all! Thanks Dave! - secretagentangel  1439.7 #101 11:10AM

I don't get it. Can you repeat that, please? - Slotherini  1054.2 #155 11:22AM
Very well stated. I'm okay with the price increase. It's still a great value for the amount of enjoyment we get from our passes. - vernswifevickie  400.2 #515 11:24AM
Exactly what I've been thinking. I know the high price is a bummer but there have also been so many special AP offerings- previews of new attractions, movie screenings, etc. it comes down to a decision of value to the indiviual person. Plus, if DL was not having fantastic attendance than the price wouldn't be what it is. It's supply and demand. Rather than complain just decide if it's worth it. If not, don't buy a pass. If it is, find a way to save the extra money from other places in your budget. Think of how much some people spend on Starbucks (or other coffee places) in a month and then a year. Cut out a couple trips there a week and you could pay for any pass you wanted. - LilSterner  4817.5 #19 11:42AM
"Like" x 1000. Hopefully this will keep the price increase from turning into a crab fest on here. - Linzee  1035.2 #161 11:56AM
I understand what you are saying. But not all of us live in Southern California. When I go, I have to pay for a hotel. I have to pay for food. We like to have a good time on vacation, so we have stayed at the DLR exclusively for every visit over the past 10 years. Carsland and all those other changes are wonderful, of course, but since we do not go every week like many of you locals, we don't get tired of things the way many of you might. I was never aware there were different fireworks shows, for example. It's all just fireworks to me. And we enjoy them. Same with parades. We like the parade, even if we aren't aware of what it is called. I think it's definitely a different park experience for those who go frequently and those of us who do not. Of course, a $20 or $30 increase isn't going to break us, it just would Have been nice if they had waited another year, especially after last year's huge increases. We had a good time this year. It was fun seeing all the new stuff, as well as all our old favorites. And Disney will certainly not go bankrupt without those of us who don't go back for a long while. There are always people there waiting to take our place. Supply and demand, as you say. I just miss the more affordable pass prices, as most of us do. - MeridaFan  3512.6 #33 12:02PM
I agree with these comments. As long as the price increases help with the crowds, I think it makes sense. I do think the experience and in particular the AP experience has really improved over the years (it seems everyone else feels the same - hence the off the charts attendance levels). I feel very lucky and privileged to live in So. Cal. We will only take a hiatus for awhile as our little man turns 3 next year and it is tough to start paying for 4 passports vs. 3 passports! They're so little I feel like we can take a break for awhile and come back with renewed/increased excitement. Although I may go through withdrawal and change my mind. :) On another note, how do I edit the post - it appears my So Cal Select price was wrong and it went up by only $10 vs. $30, to $279 - sorry about that folks! - QueenMiranda  399.1 #516 12:08PM
and Dave - toph  2416.6 #48 12:10PM
I completely agree! Yeah, it's a mighty large chunk of change to get Premium Passes for our family of 5 but they are worth it and we always find a way to come up with the money every year. - Autoalice  160.6 #2464 12:24PM
I think also what a lot of people fail to understand is how a big company works like this. Disney as you know is spread out all over the place from Theme Parks,to cruise lines and to T.V, Movies, Music, Stores, it goes on and on. Well each of those some may say Departments are ran as their own companies and responsible for their own profits and losses within the umbrella of the entire company. It even goes a step further as each department within Disneyland is managed that way as well and has their own budgets and even though the attractions themselves dont have tickets or a cash register, there is a number that is associated per guest that visits that attraction in a day, how many guests go on within a day, so on and so.So for instance when a movie like John Carter which had a budget of 300 million tanks at the box office yes its going to affect the over all company but what is going to get hit hardest is that division of the company. Now that the parks are brining in more revenue it enables them to provide more and more for us as consumers for years to come. If they were just willy nilly raising prices and taking more and more away than you wouldnt see myself or a lot of others renewing. I think its a shame but what this is going to turn into is Disneyland being more of a once or twice a year event instead of a weekly thing but I think we will all be ok and find other fun things to do - Dave   12452.6 #2 12:29PM
Well said. I think the price is well worth it and we come from NorCal! So we make to the parks about 10 times a year (sometimes more). - PrincessLeia  303.1 #819 12:36PM

@SpiritOfAdventure Not really, Dave's words are well thought out and cover a lot about Disney and passes. - friendlymouse  727.9 #228 1:27PM
Hahaha. Awesome Dave. Now I'm mad our post and conversation got removed last night. Haha. People.... Prices change, things get better. Disneyland is a luxury, NOT an entitlement! It is a company to make money. Yes they make out dreams come true, but the reason they cost so much is because they are the best! If it wasn't the best, you wouldn't pay those prices! (ie, knotts, sea world, long beach aquarium, magic mountain, universal studios). If you want cheaper go to those places. - sunshinegates  722.3 #232 2:05PM

We all knew it was coming as the prices do change every June. But, like Dave said last night, it is all about supply and demand. If someone purchases a Premium AP at this current price and comes everyday of the year, its only $1.83 per day. If you go once a week, its about $12 and change. But what other place can you go and enjoy the best and innovative attractions, eating delicious food, and be at a place where the Disney magic lives everyday? Yes, prices for everything are going up, but having a AP is a privilege. There are still the highest discounts being offered for merchandise and food and look at the amount of extra AP only previews and events that were offered as well. I'm not trying to say that this is a bad or good thing, but having a AP is a special privilege and there are many ways to get around this by budgeting money. Also, there are thousands of CMs, like me, who put their time and energy in making the parks what it is everyday of the year who are also living everyday lives like everyone else. - BaseballMickey_CM  6865.5 #9 11:03AM
Yes!!! - vernswifevickie  400.2 #515 11:25AM
Yep, my AP is still a great value, worth every penny. I see where the $$$ is going. It's a quality product, if I can call it that. - JenGwen323  1530.1 #94 12:24PM
Yes, I agree with you. We live in the Bay Area and spend 10 days in DL/DCA a year...still worth price of AP for our family of four. - BombFrogFormerCM  845.3 #195 4:30PM
We love all the CM's. You are what makes Disney great. The work ethic and pleasant attitudes are head and shoulders above Great America which is just 40 minutes from me as opposed to 6 hours. It costs money to train and keep good people. It's worth it. - FairyGrandmother  272.4 #1055 5:56PM
We have had our APs for almost 15 years and have enjoyed them immensely. They are a great value and privilege that we cherish and appreciate! The parks are beautiful, clean and safe. There isn't anything that hasn't been carefully thought through. Last but not least the parks are magical and the CMs are the icing on the cake!!! We will buy our next passes and thank out lucky stars we are able to do so!!!!! - Boundin  593.9 #308 10:35PM
I almost agree, except that an AP is not a privilege. It is a commodity that is purchased. - Firelt  228.6 #1538 10:45PM
Firelt, One of the definitions of privilege is... "A special advantage, immunity, permission, right, or benefit granted to or enjoyed by an individual, class, or caste." Therefore I feel privileged to be in the position (albeit through hard work and savings) to be able to afford our APs every year. - Boundin  593.9 #308 11:22PM
I agree with most of what you said. The APs are really a great value for those who live locally and wish to visit frequently. The only issue I have is the unbalanced value of APs versus regular park tickets. What I mean by that specifically is the AP payment plan. That made it dirt cheap for everyone and their mama who live nearby to have a pass. They can go whenever they please, get discounts on food and merchandise, and don't have to pay for flight or a hotel, and they have a whole year to pay for the pass. But your regular park tourist has to pay for all that, AT ONE TIME, for one visit. Your typical vacationing family is probably going to spend more money on that trip then we do for our pass. I think it's a bit unfair that people who just happen to live near by have not only easier access, but cheaper admission to go many times over, but for a family's once a year, or once in a lifetime visit, they don't get the same opportunity. And this is coming from someone who's been a Premium/Premier AP for ten years and I've never been a part of the payment plan. I think discontinuing the payment plan would be the easiest way to help ease the over crowding of all the locals who aren't paying the same price of admission as everyone else, without having to actually raise prices. - NotNKansasAnymor  283.8 #941 6:06AM
I live in the Bay Area and travel to Disneyland about every 6 weeks. It's a 6 hour drive. I spend money on gas, hotel, food and sometimes souvenirs. My family has 4 premium passes (3 expire in June and my 4 year olds expires in March). This year I can't manage paying for them all straight out. I made a large down payment on my daughters, paid in full for my pass and my husbands, and have my sons on the payment plan. I appreciate this benefit from Disneyland. Without this flexibility, I may not be able to renew my passes Γ nd would need to say goodbye to Disneyland. Perhaps Disney should charge us interest when we make payments. - LaPearleNoir  1451.6 #98 6:27AM

I will say, yes it hurts the budget when you are buying Premium passes for a family of 5. But we feel like it is worth every penny spent! If we make at least 5 trips in a year we've broken even if you take the cost of parking and a day parkhopper ticket. If you further take into account the fantastic discounts you get on food and merchandise it brings it down even more. We average about a trip and a half a month if you take our total trips since getting passes in 2005 to now. Not bad at all! There are ways to help with the costs. We have a Disney Chase Visa that we use for anything and everything, paying the balance in full each month. These are purchases we'd make anyway like food or gas and a lot of our monthly utility bills and such. We save those points all year to go toward the purchase of out passes. This year we had a full pass and about half of a second. Considering we were unemployed half of last year so our spending was drastically cut, that's not bad at all! Go buy a Keuring for your house and cut out Starbucks all year, the savings is huge! We don't take any other big vacations the rest of the year. Disneyland is our "vacation", we just spread it out all year instead of cramming it into a couple weeks. The amount of quality new offerings of the Parks is staggering! The list of new things to come is mind blowing and absolutely look worth the extra money to keep it coming. We are more inclined to spend a little more on things from the parks because the discount gives us that little extra to spend. You have to look past the simple dollar amount and look at what that dollar amount really gives you. We are renewing again and will continue to do so until we are no longer physically able to get to the parks anymore! - Autoalice  160.6 #2464 2:22PM
I will gladly pay the higher price if Disney keeps giving great experiences for my family. I live 8 hrs away, but I find ways to save on that hotel, on the food my family consumes on what we buy in the parks. I will pay if it means rides get refurbished, new entertainment keeps arriving, and the parks keep expanding and changing for the better. Disney will always be an experience, a place of memories, a GREAT value in my eyes. - PrincessAuroraMomma  527.0 #357 4:49PM
I just called the Disney # 714-781-4567. I wanted to know if I could renew my premium pass today at today's price even though my pass is valid through 7/27/13. Answer: No. Reason: not within 40 days. The new price for premium will be $669. Old price was $649. Still includes parking. BUT renewing Premium pass holders are being given a discount of $40 with renewal. So, it will be $629 when I renew. I'm sorry I didn't think to ask about other renewals, (if the price is different). They will be answering the phone until 6:00 today. Not much time, I know. Even if the other passes aren't discounted like the premium, you can still get old (today's) price if your renewal date is within 40 days of today. Check the ap website. - FairyGrandmother  272.4 #1055 5:33PM
Thanks for checking on that! - JustCantWait  1120.9 #139 5:49PM
This would make it the same price as last year's renewal :) - PrincessTiannaBeignet  293.4 #884 5:50PM
My renewal is around the same time as yours. At least we get a bit of discount. - Lelundrial  555.5 #332 6:45PM

Then we will be paying the same old price for premium renewals. - Winnie111286  3198.3 #37 8:46PM
I get what people are saying and if I lived in So Cal and got to go every week or even every month then I would never complain but living in another state and for the first time actually thinking about getting passes, this sucks. So what was goin to be $1950 is going to $2010 for three people. Some families have more than one child they have to buy for. I just think with the amount of people who go and the prices u have to pay for food and drink, raising prices after a $150 hike so soon is a little rediculous and greedy. - MinnieTinker  504.5 #381 7:59PM
What's another $20.00....Spend more on my Laker Season tickets and they make me sad this year! - snappy  348.7 #618 9:56PM

😭😭😭😭 - weloveLA16  166.9 #2365 8:56AM
I don't think anyone is going to deny the value of an AP. I think because it IS expensive though you will have complainers. And I think the root of the complaints is the kid factor. Cause either we have kids or DLR makes us feel like a kid so it SEEMS like an AP should be more accessible. I mean if you went to a Jaguar (or insert luxury car here) board I don't think you would see as many complaints as we do here when they announce a price increase. Yeah that's it. Luxuries should not apply to kids experiences. DLR is a luxury. I think this is what a lot of people feel. As for me I'm so grateful for all of our visits and lifetime memories and look forward to when we can afford the luxury of owning AP's again. :-) - PrincessDuckie  805.2 #205 10:22PM
I do think maybe there could be a price break on a kid's premium since they can't use the parking benefit. 😁 - bluefairy  643.3 #278 1:05AM
We spend at least $30 on food each time we go, so cutting out food on one trip will pay for increase for the year. I just would not like it if they got rid of monthly payment option. - debbiev  968.4 #171 11:57AM
That's true. On my own I don't spend but with my son I do - MarshaMouse  4124.3 #25 1:21PM
Oh how I wish us outside of Southern CA had the monthly payment option for annual passes. Even with the increases, I think the experience and memories of a day at DL is well worth the prices. - AngieC  234.8 #1453 12:48PM
There are monthly payment options outside of Southern California. That's what we do. - youcanfly  5.3 #16201 1:14PM
Really? Through the Disney website you can only select the monthly payment option if you are a CA resident - AngieC  234.8 #1453 5:33PM
Payment option is available to California zip codes 90000-96199. Per the website. (I don't have this stuff memorised) - FairyGrandmother  272.4 #1055 5:38PM
Yes, you must be a resident of California (north or south) in order to be eligible for the payment option. - LaPearleNoir  1451.6 #98 9:18AM
Don't we get a $20 off discount when we renew? Making the price the same for the premium and $10 more for the other passes? - HakunaMatata  327.5 #694 2:28PM
Very good point! - MrsSchnooks  3043.1 #40 4:13PM
I called and was told Premium passes will get $40 off making it $629 for us. I'm cool with that. It still includes parking too. - FairyGrandmother  272.4 #1055 5:50PM

This app is awesome and I love how MWers share info with each other - also think it is neat that we may have differing opinions but all make valid points and do it in a respectful manner (and often with humor tossed in). - QueenMiranda  399.1 #516 10:15PM
I will still renew because I don't want to get on a plane, I like being home, and I am fortunate to have DL/DCA as my back yard. I'm gauging my senior years by my ability to go on the rides and remain upright and walk the parks. So far so good and its always magical. - Plumiegirl  8573.2 #3 9:58PM
So what about the premiere pass? Will that one only go up $20 in price as well? I'm planning a trip to wdw this July and was planning to upgrade my premium to a premiere pass. - Andrie  163.3 #2429 10:05PM
It goes up $130. - IDVandalSkipperCM  2339.3 #52 10:11PM
Aw well that sure sucks. I guess I'll try calling tomorrow and see if they will let me upgrade at the old price. Fingers crossed. - Andrie  163.3 #2429 11:15PM
Can you upgrade online? - MrsSchnooks  3043.1 #40 11:24PM
Yes, that was the biggest increase. %15 percent I believe. - LaPearleNoir  1451.6 #98 9:13AM
I believe it went up to $1,000. Can someone verify this amount? Thanks - kweenofhearts  18.1 #7002 10:25AM
Only $20 more for Premium, that is less then $2 a month. Defiantly not as bad as last years jump. I lived in Wa for two years and only went 26 times in two years but it was still worth the pass. I just moved to Vegas and hope to get there more this year! - Disneykarij  266.3 #1120 12:14AM

there another $20 to $25 increase, seems like parking if paid will be going up slightly and the premier pass with acess to both ca and fl parks will now be $979 and ap blockout tickets will now go to $84 - pikarich  3812.9 #27 9:50AM
Thank you for the additional info, I forgot to ask about those. - QueenMiranda  399.1 #516 10:00AM
Whoa! I have to pay an extra $310 for a Premier for my WDW trip now. Hmm. How bad do I really want to get that Coast to Coast medal? - KermitFan13  653.6 #268 6:46PM
Oops. Meant to upgrade for the Premier. - KermitFan13  653.6 #268 6:47PM
Wow. Pretty sure we paid right around $300 just four years ago for a Deluxe passport! What a shame. This is just the second time we have had passports, and they are about to expire. We hadn't planned on keeping them longer than a year, but now for sure we won't. I wonder what Walt would think about these prices and constant increases? So is it just the passport prices going up? Not the daily ticket or 3- and 5-day pass prices? Really sounds to me like they are trying to discourage the passport purchases. - MeridaFan  3512.6 #33 9:54AM
1 day, 1 park is going up to $92 for adults... 1 day park hopper is going up to $137 for adults - LBChica  2210.4 #57 10:02AM
That is really too bad; ours expire next February and we will likely take a hiatus, also. I didn't ask about single or multi-day tickets but I do think they are probably trying to discourage passport purchases in an effort to control crowds. - QueenMiranda  399.1 #516 10:02AM
It does. Which is stupid. Yes the AP is cheaper than buying a ticket each time you go but people go more frequently and spend more money in the park because of it. Over all they probably make more money with the AP than they lose out on and people out of state still have to buy regular tickets. I'm glad we were able to pay in full and got parking but we probably will not have passes for a couple years after these expire...partly due to moving out of state though I thought of renewing before moving and just keeping the mail at my parents address... - starwarsmamma  561.6 #327 10:03AM
Thanks for the additional info LBChica - QueenMiranda  399.1 #516 10:03AM
sorry all park tickets are going up and parking and the premier pass $too. new one day ticket will be $92 for one park and all other are increase by 10-20 dllars. - pikarich  3812.9 #27 10:04AM
I think it's a real bonehead move too, Starwarsmama. We took 7 trips in this past year. We took 4 trips four years ago when we had APs. No trips in between. And now for sure, no trips in the foreseeable future at all. Which is really a shame. We spent way too much money this past year, but they will have to get that from someone else now. I am sure they will have no problem doing that. But I would like to think this would not make Walt happy at all. - MeridaFan  3512.6 #33 10:28AM
My friend is headed down to Orange County next week. She was going to do a day trip to DL with her son. I posted the price increase on FB. When she saw how much a one day hopper she said its a no go. Sad... - LaPearleNoir  1451.6 #98 6:35AM
I think they are @meridafan. I was talking to a CM on the tram the other day (character guide) and he said that they are trying to eliminate monthly payment option. or at least thats watthe buzz is. They were also toying with the idea of getting rid of the SoCal select one....sad - missariel33  1946.9 #71 10:01AM
Oooh....I hope they don't take away the payment option. But if they do I guess we'll just have to make payments on our credit card bill instead. - vernswifevickie  400.2 #515 11:27AM
The monthly payment option is the only way I can afford to pay for our passes. That goes, and I won't be able to renew our passes. - Lelundrial  555.5 #332 8:56PM
A lot of people won't. I think that's the point. But I doubt they're gonna do it. They will most likely just get rid of the SoCal one. - missariel33  1946.9 #71 1:49PM
Or maybe they will charge us interest? - LaPearleNoir  1451.6 #98 6:36AM
This post has been moved to Disneyland Resort News - MouseWaitOfficialAccount 10:42AM
Honestly... It's not that bad. Yes, I know I have no kids, but I'm paying for 3 passes (at one time four) and I'm managing. 😁 - Waites4DodgerEars_CM  995.6 #169 10:46AM
That's much better than the $200 hike last year! - SPandEvLover  3490.3 #34 10:50AM
I'm just going to put a few extra bucks aside for when I renew my pass next year and hide this post so I can get back to looking at happy stuff. πŸ˜„ - DisneyFan77  671.9 #258 11:41AM
I want an AP soo bad!! Someday... I'm in Vegas & travel to Daurte every other month for Doctor visits at City of Hope. Would be so great to be able to hit up my favorite place on the planet before or after my appointments. It's only 22 miles away!!! Such a tease! - SarahD005  4.4 #19365 11:54AM
Maybe you could do it on a credit card? Same thing really, except with Disney you don't have to pay interest. Good luck. - FairyGrandmother  272.4 #1055 5:40PM
Good idea! - missariel33  1946.9 #71 1:50PM
Well said Dave! - radarwatcher1  61.6 #4142 12:02PM
Why did they set the price to increase on June 2nd and not June 1st? - friendlymouse  727.9 #228 1:25PM
Probably so those near to renewal date will call or go to DL today and renew at the old price, they did this last year too. they gave about a 30 day or so window so if you renewed, they would let you at the old price if your renewal date was within that 30 days. also, some people bought new passes that are good to activate by the end of the year, then would let their current passes end and then activate the new passes by the required date. if you sit down and figure out the cost, for some people it saves money. but that was last year when the prices went up so much, not sure if you can do that this year, plus the increases are not as high. - secretagentangel  1439.7 #101 1:53PM
I just sent my husband to the parks to upgrade from Premium to Premier. The price hike is $130/pass. 😣 - EpicDio  433.1 #458 1:28PM
ooooh!!! you are going to WDW????? how fun!!! - secretagentangel  1439.7 #101 1:54PM
Yes! We are going as a family in January (for my 30th birthday) and Steve is going in November for the Wine and Dine half marathon. - EpicDio  433.1 #458 2:06PM
I like the sound of that. "Hey honey, will you run over to DL and renew our passes?" Congrats on the upgrade. - LaPearleNoir  1451.6 #98 9:20AM
I'm thrilled the AP price increase isn't $200! I can do this. - BRabbit  543.0 #343 2:06PM
Is it just passports that were increased? Funny it happened at the same time we were allowed to go back into the park to dance. - Mgibson  10.7 #9465 2:53PM
You know I really have to agree with Dave. The value that you receive with the AP is well worth the price. I love how the parks are new and exciting and there are new attractions and things to do. My only hope is (Obi Won) j/k... My only hope is that they don't eliminate the payment option. This will make the decision easy on whether or not we renew as a family - dangerdude  29.0 #5576 3:06PM
Agreed, even after our first visit with our new passes. I felt that it was paying for itself. - Lelundrial  555.5 #332 8:57PM
It sucks for those who won't be able to renew. Disneyland holds a very special place in our hearts. The way I look at it is, the happiness , memories, smiles, all the fun my lil fam gets when we visit. To me it's worth every penny . We are a family of 5 but every other place we go we don't enjoy as much as DL. Plus all the merchandise and food discounts we get. We live an hour away. And try to go a minimum of twice a month . I've taken my kids to other theme parks aquariums museums and they say " it was ok" lol they live Disneyland and yes it's a privilege to have a pass. I did my poor math lol and I think it's more convenient for me to spend the 670 per person a year on entertainment than not have a pass and maybe spend more in other places. The more you pay the more you get. - PINKPIRATEPRINCESS  116.4 #3175 3:11PM
And here I thought it was just because of the dry ice incident LOL - IHEARTSIMBA50  495.0 #389 3:18PM
Oh this doesn't bother me one bit. I was worried it was gonna be a huge price jump but that's totally doable. Deluxe pass, here I come! - missmimi90  1774.9 #78 4:45PM

Well said coming from a wise one - DarkwingDuck  262.3 #1156 3:24AM
Renewing premium passholders get a $40 discount which makes the pass the same price as last year. I'm cool with that! The price increase last year for premium was so dramatic- I'm stoked on the additional discount this year. - tballzz  555.2 #333 10:39AM
Well said Dave, i don't live in So Cal but I have a pass and go as often as possible. As long as I am able I will continue to go and keep my annual pass! - thumpur  268.0 #1103 1:21PM
And WDW paying the same and get all the parks inFL! - Fantasmicfan1  1064.7 #152 1:39PM
Maybe, however they don't have the same AP base we do. WDW is a destination. DL is more locals. - IDVandalSkipperCM  2339.3 #52 1:51PM
I wish they would discontinue all passes exept premium and premier. Raise the food discount to 20%, merchant discount to 30%, and do half off rooms any time. In exhange for this added privilege raise the price of the pass to $1000-$1500. I would gladly purchase again and again! - georgieporgie  183.6 #2108 4:42PM
As someone who had premier passes for 5 years, but after both my husband and I losing our jobs, we had to downgrade; I disagree with this. It is a privilege for us to have passes but it literally is our therapy and escape from reality which we and other families desperately need at this time. It is cheaper for me to go to DLR than pay for a therapy session once a week. I don't think Disneyland was made to be an elitist club. I have no problem in a gradual increase here and there. I get it, it's a business. Do you really think those of us who are struggling should not have the same option for happiness as you? - MrsSchnooks  3043.1 #40 5:12PM
I agree, it is therapy, it is a land of rejuvenation, and I think everyone should have access. Not having an AP would not exclude anyone. Buying an ap is a budgeting choice. Buy one or don't. If need be anyone could cut anything from their expendable income to make it work. There are lots of things that would get the ax in my budget; cable, eating out, booze, shoes, weekend stuff other than DL. Shop at costco more. Eat less steak. There is always options. - georgieporgie  183.6 #2108 5:25PM
We've actually cut all those things. That's how we afford our pass, so I know what you're saying but you said to only offer certain passes at $1000-$1500. That's very difficult for some families to do. - MrsSchnooks  3043.1 #40 5:35PM
The premium pass and going to DL once every other month, is my only luxury. I budget for everything, and how I budgeted allowed me to be able to buy a pass for my son and myself. Also, you have to pay for a membership to even be able to shop at costco and last time I looked that wasn't cheap. - Lelundrial  555.5 #332 5:38PM
Is an annual pass really a pre-requisite for a trip to Disneyland?.... Costco $50 a year and you can split a membership with one other person..... - georgieporgie  183.6 #2108 7:02PM
Ill repeat; I think everyone should have access. I didn't say that disneyland should be private or exclusive. A season pass is not a requirement to attend, and I don't have any idea what your finances are like, I don't want to know either. It isn't my business, or disney's business. If you save money good for you! Again, attendance be it via pass or paper ticket is a luxury (not a right),one I am happy to pay for. I would pay a lo more for it too, it is a valuable product and I encourage disney to charge what ever they think is the right price for it, $1500 just happens to be my personal threshold. Good luck with the budget for next years pass, I hope the numbers work. - georgieporgie  183.6 #2108 7:50PM
I'm stuck on the Costco thing. I need to cut my Costco trips. I usually spend 300$ every time I walk into that store! - LaPearleNoir  1451.6 #98 6:43AM
I agree with you on the price hike, but they need to take it a step further and get rid of payment plans as well. I'm more than willing to pay more for a less crowded DL. DL with little to no crowds = priceless. I'm sorry but I'm not exactly a fan of the entitlement everyone thinks they deserve, I'm sorry, but is everyone a club 33 member, um no. So why is everyone entitled to a pass for a $100? I Always thought the low prices for annual passes along with payment plans have ruined the experience at DL. I'm sorry, but if you have to get payment on a $200 pass, then you shouldn't be entitled to one. No wonder this country to so heavily in debt...he I want this and that, but I can't afford it, so lets just use credit, then I can afford everything and if I can't, I'll just let my house go or file bankruptcy. Grrrr - cmc  57.1 #4251 12:31PM

...sigh...I guess all rides do come to an end... - Art2D2  211.9 #1762 5:34PM
But those of us RENEWING get a discount. It's even less than what I paid last year. I do wish there was a kids premium. My daughter doesn't have a car, but if I buy her deluxe, she's blacked out. I know countless families with my dilemma. - minnie90605  17.9 #7064 7:17PM
Yes it is so true on all aspects. I just take it being sad since my whole family used to go once a year (family of seven), it is now forced me to even consider going at all. It has been a year and a half since the last visit. We were planning on going next month, but with the new prices I am going to put it off for another year. It may not be a big increase to certain people, but I do have to consider the spending all together, after all we are all hurting not just a handful as others think. For the people that can afford well worth the purchase especially the premium AP. - Enome  9.4 #10266 9:29PM
Our Premium AP's aren't that much more than a yearly membership to the local naturist club and there's so many more things to do at Disney! - MrsMears  217.1 #1687 11:54PM

The goal of all corporations is to maximize profits. More power to Disney for believing in taking care of their stock holders. Profits for the 2nd quarter were $1.5 billion with parks having revenues of $3.3 billion for the same period. Once the break even point is reached, then prices will not rise. And don't forget that Disney has always honored all annual pass cards bought at supermarkets in the past up to the expiration date even though they were bought at the previous price. - sr citizen space ranger  59.4 #4205 7:01AM
Glad I took the time to read this. Very informative and makes me want to use my AP a lot more often - ChristopherRobin661  269.3 #1089 12:04PM
We have 2 Premium & 2 So Cal. We definitely get our moneys worth out of the Premiums. We go several times a month. We even upgraded to Premier for our first trip to WDW. Love my Premium AP & will continue to pay. - Winnie111286  3198.3 #37 12:11PM
Premium AP holder, and shareholder. The latter takes some of the sting out of it. I would encourage every Disney fan to own a piece of the company - MelodyMouse  4020.0 #26 12:27PM
After finishing my business class, I have seriously been thinking about doing that. - Lelundrial  555.5 #332 2:26PM
Well it's nice to know that I'm not the only one who thinks the payment plan should be discontinued. Like others have said Disneyland is a luxury, not a right. Plain and simple: you can either afford it or you can't. It shouldn't be up to Disney to bend over backwards to make things cheaper just because you live nearby and have a big family and want visit every couple of weeks. If you can't afford the upfront cost of a pass, do what everyone else does...visit once a year. And make a nice big trip of it. - NotNKansasAnymor  283.8 #941 2:01PM
Seriously? Disney has a brain and knows that the local ppl will come more often. Why not make it a way that makes it easier for them. So you're telling me that if you lived close, you wouldn't take advantage of the payment option? I can pay upfront if I wanted, but if I'm given this option, why not take advantage of it?! - caramiapoohAKAface  3570.2 #32 2:12PM
Disney DOES make it easy, it's called the payment plan. Lol! I live 20 minutes away, I have a Premier Pass and I visit about once every two weeks, sometimes more, and I pay for it upfront. I do that because I can AFFORD it. Why would I want to spend a year of my life being in debt to Disney? To me, one payment once a year = hassle free. - NotNKansasAnymor  283.8 #941 2:21PM
Paying a few bucks a month is just an easier deal for most people. And with no interest charged, who wouldn't want to do it that way? I think it's a great option and hopefully they keep it! - MeridaFan  3512.6 #33 2:30PM
I think you're assuming Disney wants the parks to be less crowded, which they might if there was no payment plan. If they did do away with payment plans, you can pretty much count on much larger increases to fill the void. - Gia  802.0 #206 2:34PM
I guess I better remember this when purchasing my next car or house...only get it if I can AFFORD it and pay it all upfront!!! 😜😜😜 - caramiapoohAKAface  3570.2 #32 2:37PM
@gia; I (as I said above) would be happy to pay more (a lot more) for an improved product. - georgieporgie  183.6 #2108 2:41PM
You're right Kansas! They should also cancel payment plans on cars, mortgages, year long apartment leases. All of them should be gone. Can't afford it up front, find something cheaper. 😏 - Waites4DodgerEars_CM  995.6 #169 5:13PM

unFORECAST for the week of Monday April 20, 2015

CROWD PREDICTION: Back to short hours this week, and based on our Historical Crowd Index, we see mid-70s with crowds decreasing through the end of the month. There is also a chance of rain toward the end of the week which could throw a wrench in things. Friday and Sunday's have been the busiest days, but rain on Friday could cause the crowds to be significantly less. Have a great weekend! - Admin Apr 21, 2015 11:28AM

We have always noticed that Saturdays are better than Sundays! We always come on the weekend and say we want to leave at dinner time on Sunday, but always leave by 11-12 because there are so many people. We love Saturday!! - 1Princess3Princes  373.0 #559 5:39PM
I agree. I think it has to do with most passes being blocked - PoohSizedGuy  18.5 #6934 11:53PM

http://cchealth.org/eh/retail-food/dog-law-faq.php Β  I know folks love theiri pets but I still do not think this is sanitary Β from a food perspective. See the url for CA law. Unless they provide a designated pet area outside, dogs cannot lick the plates/utensils, who cleans up after a dog accident......No pets in at a restaurant for now (service dogs are the exception). Disney is excellent with their food cleanliness in the parks per the Public health inspections. DTD does not fare as well per Retaurarant inspection. Check the Health Care Agency for the current restaurant inspections. As a Public health nurse I always check to see who is keeping clean in their kitchens. Diners beware! - Plumiegirl  8573.2 #3 10:42AM
i asked for MW meet up discount on 3/31 and nobody working knew what I was taLking about but they did give me an ap discount - MelodyMouse  4020.0 #26 4:22PM
