Good morning! This day in Disney history, April 6th,1990. At Disneyland, the 1st Blue Ribbon Bakery opens replacing the Sunkist Citrus House. This location became Gibson Girl Ice Cream in 1997. In 1997 The Blue Ribbon Bakery was moved to the corner of Disneyland’s Main Street & West Center Street, taking over the space that had been the Carnation Ice Cream Parlor & Restaurant. (a Disneyland institution since 1955). Fortunately, Carnation’s outdoor dining patio survived as a table-service restaurant, the Carnation Café. In Mid 2012, the 2nd Blue Bakery space became the new Carnation Cafe, adding indoor seating to the previously outdoor-only space. Do you remember the Blue Ribbon Bakery? Do you know the fictional story behind how it got its name? Oh how I miss those Cinnimon rolls! Anyone else?

Oh good!! A "not-so-before" my time history post!! 😂😂. I'm kidding... All your history posts are awesome, Duchess!!! I used to get the blueberry muffin from the Blue Ribbon Bakery!!! Love them! I remember this and I was sad to see it go. It used to be my favorite breakfast in the park! Thank you again SMK for a great Disney History post, as they all are!!! - IMissDisney  1205.7 #144 9:58AM
My mother was addicted to the cinnamon rolls and the chocolate chip cookies (they were large and flat, unlike the ones DL currently sells). I really think we only made some of our trips down there so she could have her yummies. - Linzee  1188.1 #146 10:16AM
Your Mother is one smart cookie! 😘😉 - Duchess_SMK  6340.7 #18 12:19PM
We loved the Blue Ribbon Bakery. It was the last stop for a coffee and muffin before heading to the trams. - HalfCaff  518.2 #402 10:41AM

I remember the Blue Ribbon Bakery! They had good Sammie's! - leftmyheartinwonderland  359.9 #644 12:19PM
I think they keep moving everything around to mess with my head. Let's play find the Carnation. It's never where I left it. I also think I could get Carnation ice cream in the hub area when I was a kid but that's probably just trauma caused by all this moving mayhem. - Westcoast  174.6 #2324 1:32PM
Thank you for the history Duchess. I remember getting coffee there every trip on the way out. I do not know how it got it's name. Someone please tell us the story. - GrumpyPirateDad  1936.2 #86 3:05PM
