(Guest Assistance Cards). I want to share some information regarding Guest Assistance Cards. Disneyland is not only required to comply with ADA standards but also strongly desires to make the park inviting, accessible and enjoyable for “all guest of all ages from everywhere”. This is a monumental task of course but one that we are up too. The challenge is to give all our guest the best experience while not infringing on their privacy or dignity. There is no doubt that the system gets abused. I am sure I allow guest through the GAC access that do not belong there however, that is a small price to pay for making the park accessible for those that truly need some additional assistance. Also, the number on the card is for the maximum guest in the party. It is NOT a license to find people in the park and make magic of your own. This only adds to the abuse and slows down the stand by line for the rest of our guest. It is also not appropriate to allow members of the party to use the card while the guest needing the assistance stays behind. The GAC card is not meant to reduce the wait time for the guest in most cases (there are some exceptions E.I. green light cards) but are meant to make the attraction accessible. Most attractions are being converted where possible to queues and ride vehicles that are accessible by all therefore eliminating the need for alternate entrances. Please do not judge those using the GACs that do not have any apparent reason for using the card. But please me mindful when using the card of the reasons it was given. I am writing this as a ride operator that deals with GACs daily, an attractions trainer responsible for teaching other CMs about GACs, a working lead and an orientations facilitator that teachers new CMs about GACs. (My intension is not to start a debate but just to clarify)
