Okay, time to get real. The last podcast, at best, was mediocre. There is an abundance, and I do mean an abundance, of issues that need to be discussed and addressed. First of all, the team. I’ve been hoping since the beginning of the podcast that we could make this work, but I increasingly see that it cannot. This podcast cannot be run and made by people who have a casual investment in it. It cannot be something that you give attention to only when you have the time. We are all busy. We all have other lives. However, this cannot be a project that we only do half-heartedly. Here’s where I give you a choice. You can either continue on with us to make this podcast the best that it can be or you can opt out. I warn you that I am going to start asking much more of people than just the basics. I will not just call on the entire group for something, but specifically ask on individual people. We need people who will go above and beyond. Who will be handed a task and not only rise to the occasion but take initiative to perhaps make it even better than proposed. We need people who cringe and criticize when we put out subpar work or propose mediocre ideas. We need people who listen to the podcast and don’t just say “That was great” or “We’ll do better next time”. We need people with concrete ideas on how to improve our quality instead of praising the few things we excel at. I honestly don’t blame anyone for the mistakes and mediocre work we’ve been doing so far. We all hoped this was something we could be a part of, but the truth is it’s not cut out for everyone. I understand that we all want to be here but not everyone can do the work that will be required. Everyone needs to evaluate how much time and energy they can contribute to this project as well as if they have the skills to do it. As for the voices, I would like you all to truly evaluate if you should be a voice or if your talents lie elsewhere. To be clear, I will not be throwing anybody off the team, but I will start expecting a lot more from you guys and you need to rise to the challenge. If you cannot, then we will have a problem. On another note, we need to work on the quality of the podcast. I think this will go hand in hand with changing/challenging the team. We need to start doing original content and I believe that we should start doing either bi-weekly (every other week) podcasts or once a month (preferably at the beginning of the month, recapping what happened last month as well as focusing on the upcoming one). We just aren’t ready to do weekly ones at this point. The problem with doing podcasts every week while simultaneously asking for commitment and work from the team is that it then becomes something that you need to devote your life to practically every day to make it quality. With a once a month or bi-weekly podcast, people can set aside the time where they will devote their energy to making quality content. If you guys agree or would like to work on everything I’ve discussed, please let me know. If you think I am being completely unrealistic and do not think this is something the podcast needs I will step down and remove myself from the podcast, not bitterly, but with the hopes that you guys find your footing. Please leave feedback, comments, and questions below.
To clarify: there will be no meeting tonight unless those who were going to be there would like to still have it to discuss points I have raised above and making bring up points of there own. There will be no podcast this week, or really until we figure out how to move forward from this. -

I think we should have a group call to talk about these things. I think this should be taken more seriously, we arent just making some podcast. We are representing a very big app/webpage/community. It should not be taken lightly. I'm not going to express all of my feelings in this post but there a lot of them. I have experience producing/recording/mastering audio and if it was up to me these podcasts would not have been made public. I'm not saying they are horrible but I am a little ocd when it comes to quality. Not just how the audio is but also how the voices seem unsure and stumbling over words. I'm not saying I can be better voice, it's not my cup of tea. I will say it's very brave of those voices who tried, I would have backed out and I admire you for doing it. I'm a behind the scenes guy. Thank you everyone for your hard work and i hope we can get this back up and running ASAP! -

I completely agree. I think a monthly podcast would be best to ensure highest quality. Honestly, with my schedule now when the meeting is planned the day before its VERY difficult (if not impossible) for me to try to make it. I'd need to be able to plan my schedule around that chunk of time instead of just "tomorrow is the meeting". I can do the behind the scenes type stuff where needed from my phone throughout the day (one of the perks of being General Manager lol). More planning, rehearsing, prep work, etc. is exactly what we need. We've been just throwing it together and it comes through in the quality of the podcast unfortunately. *hides from rotten tomatoes being thrown her way* -

I think what Nicole meant to say was weekly or bi-monthly (bi-weekly would mean two shows per week). As most of you have already said, we really need to get pack to what our roles/responsibilities were and hold each other accountable. As Nicole stated, we cannot just tell each other that things were great just to be nice. Going forward, we need to be candid and transparent - show humility, as well. Right now, bi-monthly podcasts are our best bet until we truly get our gears broken in. A group meeting would be fantastic - maybe even a group meetup with a Skype call included for those not in the area. I give all of you props for putting yourselves out there - it's awesome! Now that we're out there, let's make sure we're contributing and extending the quality in the lounge to the podcast. GOLD STARS. -

I know there is already a post about this however it is old and some people are not here anymore. I would like to know what everyone here wants to do and how committed they are to doing it. -

I agree with you Nicole. I really wish I could be a voice on the show, but I'm trying the best I can to be a contributor. This idea of the podcast has so much potential. I am available for a call tonight if we have one. -

Thanks for this opportunity!! It has been fun. Originally I just wanted to gather the news, but I've had the chance to be a voice, which I really enjoyed!!! Sadly, I am going to have to opt out. 😞 I can't give the time that you are wanting with my work schedule and other commitments. It has been fun and I wish you guys well!!! I really hope that this only gets better!!! If you ever need a guest in the show, I'd love to help out in any way!!!😊😘😘 -

for those who still want to be a part of the team (i'm still not clear on everyone as not everyone has responded): we need to set a date and time for a skype call that EVERYONE can attend. unfortunately this is a bad time for me. i just found out one of my great uncles died today so i might be leaving to vegas on friday to attend the funeral. next thursday i will be leaving to walt disney world for 8 days. i obviously want it to be a real vacation as i haven't had one in ages and i've never been before so i can't really do anything pertaining to the podcast. basically the best days i can do are this thursday and next tuesday. please let me know. otherwise we will just continue the discussion here until we can sort things out. -

I for one would still like to contribute in any way that I can. News research and whatever is needed. I agree that we need to step it up. Have a lot more energy during the recordings. Research for quality content for each episode. Sorry to hear about your loss Nicole. Focus on having a great vacation and like Ericka says. We will all be here to discuss these issues when you get back. -
