RUMOR: So I've heard Disney is doing away with all passes except premium & deluxe to help reduce the overcrowded parks with too many APs and also maybe no longer have the monthly payment option. Is this true? And if so anyone know when this will become effective?
I'm beyond grateful they have the payment plan. I work my butt of, as does my hubby and I'm sure most everyone here on MW. I could not afford to drop $2000 in cash to pay for my family to go without the payment plan! We are huge fans and spend plenty of money inside the park, at the Disney stores and elsewhere. As AP holders, we probably spend more money on average at the parks than any other tourist. I feel extremely privileged and lucky that we can go the parks as often as we can. Who knows, there may be a day when we cannot. I am happy to be at the parks crowded or not. i am happy to be at the parks and see the happiness and joy it brings to all people. Yes, Disney is in the business of making money. I am happy to contribute my hard earned money so they can aid in creating memories that will last a lifetime! So, for now, thank you Disney for making it possible and affordable for my family and I to continue making incredible memories! - NurseJennJillO

If only they would do away with the payment plan LOL, that's the number one reason why the parks are over crowded with APs. Disney made it TOO cheap for all the locals to visit. Now all the tourists who come from so far away and spend way more money than the locals do, aren't getting their money's worth, and have no choice but to stand in long lines all day without the opportunity for a return visit to the park the next week, like most of us can do. - NotNKansasAnymor

I am glad that that is just your opinion because I would hate for them to take away the monthly payment plan. it has allowed a lot of people to be able to come here often as they want - secretagentangel 670.0 #154 11:45PM
Sorry, cut off, and spend lots of money on food and hotels and everything else . But we all differ on this issue for sure. I hate crowds but love sharing crazy DL stuff with a bunch of strangers! - secretagentangel 670.0 #154 11:48PM
Yes, everyone definitely has their own opinion on the AP program and any potential future changes to the program. But in the end you have to remember that Disney is in the business of making money. Keep the locals happy by offering cheap admission so they can choose to go whenever they like? Or better crowd management so all the tourists who are willing to spend thousands of dollars on one trip will be happy and willing to return year after year? Ultimately, Disney will do whatever they believe is going to make them more money. - NotNKansasAnymor 174.5 #1934 11:59PM
As a local...I appreciate the payment plan and they get plenty of my money. My suggestion if you think Disney makes too much money... Buy stock! - Gia 785.6 #121 12:35AM
Us poor folks would like to keep a roof over our head, food on the table and Disney on their heart. I am very very thankful for the payment plan it makes the happiness possible for us:) with out having to take a year break at a time. Lets face it for folks who work their butt off yet still make meh money it is the only way to make it happen captin - BooEve123 800.3 #115 12:39AM
if y'all are rollin' in the dough, that's awesome. i don't know about you guys but $650 is a boatload of money for me. it's something i'm obviously willing to pay, though. - nicoleface 1257.4 #65 12:45AM
Nicole we shall roll in the dough💰💰💰 I can't een remember the last time I had more than 500$ in my account hahaha I née to get a side job😍😀😀 - BooEve123 800.3 #115 12:48AM
let us roll! i can't remember a time like that either. - nicoleface 1257.4 #65 12:55AM
We couldn't afford passes without the payment plan and with the past couple of years being tough it's cheaper than paying a therapist! It literally saves our peace of mind. - MrsSchnooks 576.4 #190 12:57AM
I have to remind myself when I get annoyed at the large crowds coming at me, I need to remember that Disney is for everyone. I would love to be the only one there, but honestly what would the fun be in that!! Tonight I waited to go on POTC to be last but so did this other lady so they had us sit together to keep the boat even, and we both put up our arms and screamed on the waterfalls, and grabbed the pirate smoke and just enjoyed ourselves without even knowing each other. She said she comes all the time she can too and I like that we can, and since it was so slow, Disney is making a ton of money off all of us crazy AP's who stop by for a couple of hours at night when most people are leaving. So DL makes money off of all of us, and many people come and stay at the hotels, even when they have AP's, so I think the AP program is going to be okay for awhile. - secretagentangel 670.0 #154 3:05AM
If they didn't have the monthly payment plan, I wouldn't be able to go. I can't drop that much money all at once and have a hard time springing for even a 3 day park hopper at once. I personally am grateful they have the monthly payment plan, then again, I don't live in socal. I feel they should have to pay all at once if they get the socal passes because they already have a rather reduced rate. - jamielynn 138.6 #2464 8:15AM
Although it's rare that the parks are empty nowadays, I'm glad there is the monthly payment plan. Just because some can't afford to drop hundreds of dollars on an AP doesn't mean they don't deserve to go. Personally, it's rare that I spend a whole day at the parks anyways. Thank goodness I love close so we can go for a few hours then head home. Walt himself said that it's a family park where children am parents can have fun together, I think that's important to remember, regardless of someone's inability to pay for APs up front. - LBChica 1500.3 #52 11:36AM
If they ever did drop monthly payments here's a plan so you could keep going. Just save what the monthly payments would be for a year and every year after so you can continue to pay for am AP. - Coaster

I love how we are able to pay monthly for the passes. I just wish you could be locked into that price for as long as you are passholders - Apples2

...I was paying $55 a month for 3 SoCal passes and next month if I renew it will be over $100. - Apples2 345.1 #423 11:31AM
Hubby and I just got our first annual passes and I am thankful 2013 has allowed us to do this. In the past I only frequented WDW and even DL via military ticket discount deals. I thank The Lord to be able to come now even if it is. Just for the SoCal pass but it is something. Glad I can share this with many of you fellow MWs. God bless . - grasshopper01
