Throwback Thursday. Vintage from 1960. This is from my dad's stuff. Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship in Fantasyland. The only place to get your tuna burger or hot tuna pie in the park! Yum! The ship was in Disneyland until 1982. Dumbo was moved to about this spot as part of Fantasyland remodel.
Great picture! Some trivia: the plan in the 80's was to move the ship and Skull Rock over to the Small World are, but the hull had water damage so it was dismantled. Some pieces of the ship can be found in Peter Pan's Flight. - Gia

I had no idea some of it was in Peter Pan, that is so cool - Linzee 515.3 #227 9:45AM
you have to know what to look for when riding Peter Pan because it goes by really quick - BaseballMickey_CM 2806.5 #16 9:47AM

Awesome picture. This was before my time so I'm glad when people share things like this. After reading about tuna burgers and hot tuna pies I'm hungry for a tuna melt. - jlipstone

Your dad took some great pics (and they didn't yellow like the ones my parents took). Gia is going to love this one. - Linzee

Main reason they haven't yellowed is he took slides. I digitized some, including ones from that unnamed western themed place in the vicinity. - CobbPR 1515.8 #49 4:37PM
I wish that was still there. I could see it used for a Peter Pan meet and greet area! - Sharkgrrl19

So, this was a store/restaurant? I'm not sure if I totally remember this or not. It looks cool though. - meridafan

A restaurant...Chicken of the Sea I think - Linzee 515.3 #227 8:54AM
It was a counter service restaurant. You ate outside. - CobbPR 1515.8 #49 8:56AM
I wish I could remember if I really remembered this or not! Okay. That sounds odd! 😂 Wish I could remember if I ever ate here. Must have though. It was there until 1982? - meridafan 1034.1 #83 9:02AM
It was there until 82, but it changed from Chicken of the Sea to Captain Hook's Galley in 69. - CobbPR 1515.8 #49 9:40AM
A great piece of DL history! A Disneyland landmark from 1955 until 1982, although the name changed to Captain Hook’s Galley when Chicken of the Sea dropped their sponsorship in 1969. Thanks for sharing the amazing photo! - Duchess_SMK

I can vaguely remember eating there. I just had this conversation with my hubs. I thought it was a tuna sandwich not a burger. I would have been just 4 or 5 yr old, 1969 or 70. - Sugarbuzz
