NorCal MWers (Or anyone who has a 5+ hour drive), when you drive down(up, across)what time do you typically leave? Do you go into the Parks that same day? Just looking to see what others do. Thanks :)
We usually leave at 3am to get to an 8am/9am opening...by closing we are delirious. But we love the drive down with the sunrise on I-5, its a tradition for us. Now with spur of the moment trips we leave after school @3pm. - Linzee

When I lived in NorCal, we would leave at night (between 5 and 6) and check in late, sleep and start the day early. I couldn't enjoy the park after the 6 hr drive! - Gia

The plan is to leave at 3:00 pm and arrive at 9pm. Doesn't always work that way though. Usually run a little late so end up arriving at about 10pm. Any earlier and we head too the park. Next trip, I'm driving down without the hubby. We'll be leaving at 7am. - LaPearleNoir

Hi Churro . We will usually leave about 9 am , sometimes a lil later. I have found for my family personally that getting up and leaving at 4 am and then going to the parks , kinda sets us up for exhaustion ... Mostly mine! Lol 😉. This trip we have to leave pretty late , and will get there after the park closes . We will sleep for about 7 hours and then head in for a full day at the parks. I will let you know which works better :) - eviljules

We left at 8:30 am this morning... My husband decided to take 99 for some reason?!? We are currently in Madera from Sacramento.... If we fly we go into the parks the day we arrive, but if we drive we usually just hand out in Downtown Disney and do Goofy's Kitchen for dinner. - 2BeignetOrNot2Beignet

For my trip in 11 days I'm leaving about 4 am and I will then spend all day in the parks. A little easier when it's just me, might be harder for those with little ones. - mousejedi

We have always left in the evening and get there after midnight. But I am only 4 -5 hours from my sisters place in Goleta. I usually go to parks following morning. - Sharkgrrl19

We usually leave around 7pm....husband is a night owl and the girls sleep almost the whole way. We get in around 1am but we stay at my parents, not a hotel. If I had my way, we'd leave at 3 or 4 am. :) I'm an early bird - MissMolly

From Sacramento, we typically leave at 9 am (just after morning work traffic) and stop at the Lost Hills exit for lunch. We get stuck through LA, but can be checked in at the hotel and in the parks by 5pm for dinner, some rides, and fireworks or WOC - duckymomo

From modesto, we usually leave around 6am. We take our time and get there 1-2pm. Hang out at downtown disney and go to the park the next day. - mightymike10

From San Jose usually leave around 3 to make it to the area and grab some breakfast before hitting the parks. Handy that most of the hotels let you park when we get there and we just come back and check in when the rooms are ready. - ribidib
