Kinda weird seeing all these parked cars!
A couple of weeks ago, Jollyroger5 and I asked a CM about possible future plans for Autopia. He said that a contract was just signed with Honda to install new motors, since the current ones are about 14 years old. Perhaps this is why it's closed? - JRDrummer_CM

@lola027 There was no info given on whether or not they are being replaced with gasoline or electric motors. @aidensmama Autopia's time will come, but with this new contract with Honda, don't hold your breath.... Seems like a longer refurb would need to take place to change out the cars/engines - unless they just brought in all new cars... I'm very interested in seeing where they take this attraction - I know it feels very "yesteryear" sometimes, but I think there is great potential to maintain the nostalgia while upgrading the technology to keep with the times. - Lola027 444.9 #277 6:22PM

I hope they swap out the engines to something cleaner. I have problems breathing when anywhere near those cars! I'd love to see something electric or at least a hybrid to keep the air as fresh as possible! Then the race would be so on! - RobinandSteve

Yes, it was in Summer of 2000 that the current Autopia reopened after a rather complex refurbishment which combined both of the Autopia attractions into one large one. With Honda now sponsoring the Autopia, for those who have heard and posted rumors of the Autopia leaving are just that. - splashphotoCM
