Cool Omnimover History!!
As many of you know my parents were involved in a rollover accident last weekend (they are both on the mend π). My mother's dear friend was down in So-Cal and helped her get some clothes and her belongings from the car. I took my mom over to her friend's home yesterday to deliver a card and gift certificate for being such a great friend. While I had heard about her friend numerous times, I hadn't ever met her in person. My mom introduces me as her "Disney Daughter" LOL and that's when I start telling her about MW. I told her about how there were so many folks sending love and prayer, and there were a few dear MW'ers that even offered to give my parents a ride to the airport, or to let help them in any way they could. My mom's friend was shocked! She is 74 years old.. Doesn't look a day over 60, and is a pistol!! She brings me to her garage and shows me this hand drawn, signed drawing of Mickey holding the leg of her husband "Bert" who had worked at Disney as an imagineer. I asked if I could take a photo of the drawing, and she was just thrilled that anyone would want to see it. I explained MW to her, and she was just over the moonπ It turns out that her husband was Bert Brundage. He and his partner helped bring to life the omnimover!!! Wow!! I attached the Wikipedia link for you history buffs. I can't wait to see her again and learn so more about her Disney adventures π
