Good afternoon! This day in Disney history, Feb. 22nd, 1964. The Below Decks Museum attraction is added to the Sailing Ship Columbia. It shows what life was like for the 1787 crew. In addition to the galley, pantry, dry stores, and sick bay, there are quarters for the crew, bosun & bosun's mate, first mate, captain, & surgeon. Admission, .45 for adults & "juniors". Children, ( 3-5 years old) were .35. Below, is a great 1964 flier handed out @ the Main Gate to promote the new addition. Have you been on the Columbia? Did you visit the museum? What do you think of it?
You are so awesome! I know it must be time consuming to find all this great historical facts for us. Yet you do it every day! You, my dear, are such a fabulous part of the MW family!!😘😘 -

It's a relatively little known gem of the park! I've been on the Sailing Ship Columbia several times and have explored the lower decks. Tons of things to see! Also, it was quite a feat to bring the ship to the park... But that's another History post. Thank you SMK for sharing these treasures of history! -

So interesting. Sailing on the Columbia is I think the one thing that I haven't done at the parks. -

Great Disney history, as always!!! We have been on it often. I find it fascinating that sailors crossed the 7 Seas in such cramped quarters!!!!!⛵ -

Never been below. What a great day for a first visit, on its anniversary. I hope it's open. Thank you for the idea and of course the history posts. -

It was awesome. I tried adding details in a reply to my earlier comment a few times but it must have been too long. More than one sailing is highly recommended. Thank you again for the post Duchess. These are my favorite -

A few trips ago Michael and I rode the Columbia and we stumbled upon the below decks and found it super cool! -
