What is everyone's opinion on the D23 fan club? Im considering joining.

I love it. My family and I are members. The magazine tjat you get is great. I live about 2 hours away from the places where they hold the events and don'tc getto go to all of them, but the ones I do go to are great. We toured Walt Disney studies and watched a movie there. That do events like that often. Also, we got to go to the Walt Disney imagineering studio. That's fun because you can't usually go in unless you are a cast member (we also are pin collectors so that's a major reason we go). There are other events through out the year also. If you live near by its great, if not and you can travel then its food also. Hope this helps a little. - dolewhip4me  231.3 #1222 4:02PM
Sorry, I was in a hurry I promise I don't spell that bad. Lol - dolewhip4me  231.3 #1222 6:31PM
I've been a D23 member for two years. Personally I like the events they offer to members. The only events that I've done so far was the Disney studios tour and the advanced screening for Oz the great and powerful. The expo is coming up this summer and I believe D23 members pay a cheaper price and can enter earlier than general audiences. I say go for it and become a gold D23 member. - SorcererD91  476.1 #251 4:02PM
I'm a silver member and it's totally worth it! I didn't do gold because the only extra thing you get is the magazine, and it wasn't worth the extra $40 to me. In addition to the members only events, you get 15% off at Disney Store and Disneystore.com and some other discounts. FYI, Disney Movie Rewards has a coupon for 10% off your membership on their website if you decide to join. - JustCantWait  793.1 #118 6:41PM
Good tip on the coupon, thanks! - lohofosho  285.6 #697 7:01PM
I got a membership for Christmas. I live in NorCal, so the events that occur in the LA area mean nothing for me. We don't travel elsewhere enough to take advantage of other discounts. I have an AP, so discount is the same at the DLR. So far, I do not plan on renewing D23 - duckymomo  23.9 #4756 3:53PM
I thought they had a lot of events at the Walt Disney Family Museum in San Fransisco? Or is that not close to you either? - Sarafina  398.6 #335 4:54PM
@Sarafina, I live in the Sacramento area, so it's still a couple hours away. I saw that they have a discount to the museum, so we'll probably take advantage of that. I'll have to look into events they may have there. Thanks! - duckymomo  23.9 #4756 11:36PM
Do you still have to pay for the events when you are a D23 member, or do they offer free events for members? - lohofosho  285.6 #697 4:40PM
From what I read events are discounted for members. - goducks68  13.3 #5963 4:43PM
It depends on the event. I went to the Oz screening at Walt Disney Studios on Saturday and that was free. The Mickey's of Glendale shopping days are also free, however you have to pay for the studio tour. It's a mix. - JustCantWait  793.1 #118 6:35PM
Thanks for the info! I heard they tend to give you really short notice for events, is this true? As some one who lives a few hours from Disney I would want to know if I can plan for the events or not. - lohofosho  285.6 #697 7:01PM
That hasn't been my experience. Signups for the Oz screening were almost two weeks before the event, and registration for the studio tour is 2/26 even though it's not until May. - JustCantWait  793.1 #118 7:31PM
Great. Thankyou so much for the info JustCantWait! - lohofosho  285.6 #697 8:43PM
I got a membership for Christmas and just the other day looked at the website. I thought I had to register the membership, but I couldn't find anywhere to do so. I have liked it on Facebook already, but I never saw notifications for the events like Oz. How do you find out about these? 😁 - bluefairy  627.1 #174 10:01PM
@bluefairy, in your intro package, there is an email address or phone number you call to activate your membership. Then from there on you will get a d23 newsletter. - Willierose  1191.6 #68 10:04PM
Well see, I thought I saw that, but I took out the certificate and card and didn't find the info. 😏 - bluefairy  627.1 #174 10:50PM
@bluefairy here is the D23 Guest Relations: (855) 323-5973 or their email GuestRelations@D23.com - Willierose  1191.6 #68 11:08PM
I'm in Australia and have been a D23 member for two years :) Obviously I can't go to events but the magazines and just receiving mail in Disney packaging makes my day!! I say go for it :) - ariel1981  276.8 #759 5:09PM
Woah. I remember you! - madsdad  1125.1 #73 7:05PM
And I remember you! - goducks68  13.3 #5963 9:12AM
Hope all is going well for ya man. - madsdad  1125.1 #73 9:51AM
Certainly staying busy. I'm ready for another Disney trip. Hope all is well with you. - goducks68  13.3 #5963 9:53AM
