Regarding this picture...I assume that somewhere there is a button that when pressed activates the solenoid that releases the sword. They may even be a wireless remote now. I have seen the ceremony several times...what is the magic behind this sword in the anvil? - SteveGough  30.6 #4338 3:02PM
I don't know how it works, but I do know how to tell if you are going to be able to pull it out or not. If you are standing at the sword, look up to your left at the Peter Pan window and there is a red/green light on the bottom corner. If it's red, the sword is locked, but if it's green, you can pull it out! So far I haven't seen it green, but I know this is how the CM tells if it can be pulled out. - Sarafina  398.6 #335 3:15PM
I think your assumption is safe. I have no doubt that there is a button or switch of some type that locks and releases it. - aidensmama  336.5 #445 3:38PM
