According to the San Diego Union Tribune: SAN DIEGO — Disney fans can get their fill of Mickey and friends without a trip to Anaheim next month, when a “fanniversary” event comes to Balboa Park. The D23 Disney Fanniversary Road Show — at 2 p.m. March 2 at the Museum of Photographic Arts — is a film program highlighting behind-the-scene Disney history and interviews, hosted by a Disney archivist. For members of the official Disney fan club D23 — so named for the year Walt Disney founded his Hollywood film studio in 1923 — this sort of event is fan nirvana, and previous road show stops have sold out around the country, D23 spokeswoman Kelli Hagan said. The film will trace Disney history, with scenes from films ranging from “Peter Pan” to “Pirates of the Caribbean,” an introduction to classic Disney characters, historical information on classic rides and attractions at Disneyland, the history of the Disney theme parks, Disney Channel and Disney Cruise Line, as well as a sneak peek at events and new attractions planned in 2013. Organizers have promised surprises and rare film footage. Tickets priced at $21 will go on sale to D23 club members at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Any remaining unsold tickets will be sold to the general public for $35, beginning at 10 a.m. Feb. 12. A total of 250 tickets will be sold. MOPA is at 1649 El Prado in Balboa Park.
