It's been awhile since we have been to the parks. We are planning on going next month! Is the Matterhorn less bumpy than before? My mother is coming with us and she was concerned. Any info is much appreciated.
Please don't be offended because I am also chubby...but StrawberryGuy once mentioned that the biggest/heaviest person in your group sit in the front to the lightest person in the back. It will help your sled go faster and seems to be a smoother ride. I'm chubby and have noticed it is a much better ride. - Armenda

I will have to try that. It's my wife's favorite but it pretty much wrecks me. I have been sitting in the middle (what I thought was the roomiest seat) and bracing for impact. - GrumpyPirateDad 500.3 #239 9:30PM
Ride it after running the half marathon...won't notice any additional pain ๐ - Darlingwendi

Totally agree although it was much harder to get out!! ๐๐๐ - CourtyAstroBlisters 440.1 #282 8:34PM
In my honest opinion, it's bumpier. I felt like my spine was going to shoot through my skull. - Jacqueline

^^^^ excellent description of how I feel riding it. - Lelundrial 341.1 #428 8:22PM
My daughter did mention the bumpiness when she rode it today. - meridafan

Don't think it's less bumpier but the right side is a bit slower than the left. - SafariSkewerJessica
125.8 #2634 6:20PM
You have it backwards... The left (Tomorrowland) side is faster and has sharper turns and a couple of sudden drops. The right (Fantasyland) side is slower, slightly longer, and doesn't have as many aggressive maneuvers. - JRDrummer_CM 789.6 #119 6:25PM
I do? The right side is slower right? - SafariSkewerJessica 125.8 #2634 6:36PM
Yes, Jessica you are right. - Armenda 993.9 #89 6:39PM
Annnnd I need to make sure I fully understand posts before I correct them. My bad Jessica, I revoke my previous statement. Sorry about that - JRDrummer_CM 789.6 #119 6:42PM
You're forgiven. LOL. no need 2 say sorry. - SafariSkewerJessica 125.8 #2634 8:10PM
๐ปMatterhorn should be looked at๐, but not ridden๐ฃ! - Sweet_Irish_Cream

What? I love Matterhorn, just not the bobsleds. - SafariSkewerJessica 125.8 #2634 6:37PM
Exactly. And the bobsleds are the only way to ride the attraction. - Sweet_Irish_Cream 2551.8 #22 6:46PM
So if the bobsleds were different you wouldn't like it?? - SafariSkewerJessica 125.8 #2634 8:07PM
I don't see why this is so confusing to you. To break down my original comment for you...it was that the Matterhorn is a beautiful attraction to look at, but because it's such a rough ride, I don't like to ride it. Hense, "The Matterhorn should be looked at(heart eyed emoji because its pretty), but not ridden (squinty face because its so rough). Just my option, that's all ๐ - Sweet_Irish_Cream 2551.8 #22 9:38PM
Yep! Can't ride it anymore. - MrsSchnooks 573.8 #191 8:13PM
Even my 18 year old daughter was like "ouch Mt Bump Diggity" ๐ - ShariRenee 1505.7 #51 8:44PM
Yes, bumpier. I cannot sit in the front on it anymore and I have to brace myself by holding onto the seat in front of me so I don't get banged around. - aidensmama

Worse then before, jarring and bumpy and don't like it :( - josueandsandie

Yeah, I rode the Matterhorn for the first time since they refurbished it a couple weeks ago. I was Not impressed. You have to have really short legs, otherwise you can't stretch them out. It was very bumpy. They should've left it with the other cars.
I'll just stick to Space Mountain!! Best ride, EVER!!!
Sorry guys, I didn't mean to be negative. - Superspacemountainfan

Why not make a pic of SpaceMountain your user pic? - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint 1798.6 #42 8:30PM
Sit with your legs crossed. It's a lot more comfortable. - MlovesDisney

if you lean forward and hold on to the bars in front you wont feel the bumps at all trust me i have tested every seat already. everyone i go with agrees - Hendizl

I will back up your statement. The trick is to separate your body as much from the train as possible and it's a lot smoother ride. - JRDrummer_CM 789.6 #119 8:38PM
Wish I had seen this before we went last week. My brain felt like it was gunna shake out of my head - amyb1076 22.8 #4827 8:49PM
Sit in seat #5 (second car). - Alicewhoareyou
536.0 #209 8:50PM
Or #2 for that matter. It's smoother because 5 and 2 are not situated over the wheels - JRDrummer_CM 789.6 #119 9:02PM
Aha! Interesting. I think I've sat in every seat in the front car though, and #5 is tolerable for me. lol - Alicewhoareyou 536.0 #209 9:17PM
Since you know your mom's comfort level, you could preview the attraction and see what you think. Try both sides. Have a nice trip. - RadiatorSprings4Ever

I would be very pleased if they would rethink the bobsleds. Some shock absorbers or maybe thicker pads on the seats. I have such fond memories of the Matterhorn, my Uncle used to work on it when I was a child. - Zipadeedoodah

I think I'm going to bring a sweatshirt to sit on the next time I ride it to give the seat a little more padding. Those sleds are terribly uncomfortable. - HasAnyoneSeenMyGlassSlipper

It's just so sad. The trick is to bring a golf cushion, then pretend you're horseback riding over each bump, and remove all wedding rings and jewelry as to not crush your fingers. Next, bring a cane to pull yourself out of the seat. Nothing to it! - Alicewhoareyou

We took my mother on law during thanksgiving and she's in her 60's and a Pretty sturdy lady. She didn't like it at all. Bet the crap out of her. But I love it. :) - Belleslibrary
