Oh Hai - So I am trying to wrap my brain around the WDW Dinning Plan and would love to hear the input of MW. I have read some blogs and forums where some hoodlums have posted BUT I trust you guys more so please share if you have done it, and your thoughts. Thanks!
The last two trips I have been to WDW, my family and I decided not to do the DDP. Well, I do get a discount at most of the sit down restaurants and some of the QSR restaurants, but we liked to have that flexibility when choosing our meals. This way, we didn't have to worry about tracking and using our credits after each meal and may end up with credits we didn't use if someone didn't feel like eating their full portion of the DDP plan. But, if you really like to eat a lot, the DP is good because on some of the plans for dinner, each person gets an appetizer, entree, dessert and drink for each meal (and that's just dinner). - BaseballMickey_CM

Thank you for responding:) I guess this year with the 2013 plan they cut out the appetizer! I am just been so lost in it all... i feel it would be a nice way to experience some of the nicer hotel but like you said with your family worry we will feel like we are stuck to a schedule also. Thank you so much for your input! - BooEve123 800.3 #115 1:00PM
Totally agree! We've gone without DDP on all trips and we've been very happy. You have to eat a LOT to make the meal plan worth it. We averaged less than 60/day for two average eaters - and that was still splurging on snacks and stuff. We like the variety that being off DDP allows. - Lola027 444.9 #277 1:04PM
@Boo You can still enjoy some of the restaurants and the nicer hotels without the plan. We tried the Grand Floridian Cafe and the prices weren't that more than the in-park sit down restaurants. It was very peaceful and nice to get away from the park for a couple hours. We just took the 15 minute monorail ride to the hotel from Magic Kingdom. - BaseballMickey_CM 2852.6 #16 1:12PM
I have not used the plan either & each of my trips has been 7 plus days. Really loved the option of going where we wanted especially with all of the wonderful dining options including DTD. Plan options didn't really work for us but I know many others who loved it! - ShariRenee 1505.7 #51 4:10PM
It is worth doing if you really like to try different dining options and plan to eat in places other than the quick service meals. There are a lot of really good dining options at WDW! If you like to sit down and take time out of the day to eat it might be great for you. We don't like to use that much time and find that the quick service options were just as yummy and took less time away from attractions. - AKMouse

yes! what AKMouse said. i also like that it will force my family to sit down and take time out of the day to eat, relax, talk, and think about what we did that day/what we want to do later because otherwise we would just continually be running around. - nicoleface 1248.2 #65 1:08PM
i am going for the first time in march with my family and we decided to do the dining plan because we would rather pay for all our meals in advance (we really wanted to pay our whole trip in advance, not guestimate how much we would spend on food). we got the regular dining plan which is 1 snack, 1 quick-service, and 1 table-service meal. the only problem is for your table service meals you really need to book in advance. about 3 weeks ago i finished reading the unofficial guide to walt disney world, and then figured out our schedule more or less. i needed to know what park we would be at on what day so i could make reservations. sure enough, at least 1/2 of the places i've booked have already filled up. so it's not so nice that you can't really be flexible but i also like that it gave us some sort of schedule to adhere to. we can't wander off somewhere because we're having dinner at a certain park that night. i also like that table-service also includes a lot of character dining! we're doing 3 of them and can't wait. i'll let you know how it goes! - nicoleface

Yah i was thinking that would be challenging if we wanted to eat in parks i would need to know where we are planning on going...hmmmmm thanks for input doll! - BooEve123 800.3 #115 3:27PM
