NEWS: Disney is now questioning its "video recording" policy in their parks due to misuse of rights by the Sundance Film illegally filmed at Disneyworld.

It would be hard for people to be restricted on video recording since it's a place where families can go to have their memories - and they'd want to capture these memories for themselves. They might have an issue with posting them at places like Youtube, etc... but if the guy who filmed the movie without permission makes money, they should just go after him - instead of everyone at the park. - LaTruce  1831.6 #44 3:07PM
Disney lawyers won't allow that guy to make any money off his film. I also heard the film wasn't that good - BaseballMickey_CM  2996.9 #15 3:09PM
I heard it stunk also. - GarnerPhotography  321.4 #533 3:16PM
Do you have a source that you got this info from? - BaseballMickey_CM  2996.9 #15 2:56PM
I'm wondering the same - ScooterMike  1959.8 #37 3:00PM
all it takes is one person to screw it up for the rest of us - Dave  8833.8 #2 2:56PM
Irony. - cynDOLEwhip  745.3 #138 3:03PM
Next thing you know, they'll ban making videos in your car. - Mouse4life  1086.2 #78 6:28PM
Well until I see it writing. I will continue to record shenanigans and tom foolery when i please. - vincentchase  646.1 #172 3:05PM
I have a hard time believing that this conversation ever actually happened at Disney Legal. With most phones and cameras having integrated video recorders, I would think they would know that it would be nearly impossible to enforce. - LittleAprilShowers  500.8 #241 3:48PM
They can't even enforce no flash photography on pirates how are they going to enforce this! Lol - ImAlwaysCrazy  646.5 #171 3:51PM
Right? - LittleAprilShowers  500.8 #241 3:58PM
I don't think it will be an issue unless someone tries to profit off of their recording or if it is interfering with other guests. - aidensmama  339.4 #446 4:02PM
I like turtles. 🐢 Just don't ban the turtles. - Waites4DodgerEars  690.1 #152 5:06PM
I have two tortoises, they're nice too! - ShariRenee  1578.1 #51 6:32PM
After I've been talked to by security several times, they do have a policy of no filming and no live broadcasting of video without permission. - RadioMaverick  673.8 #160 2:52PM
It wasn't just Disneyworld. They filmed here as well - Starr  549.9 #209 3:02PM
So no recording at all in the parks???? - DisneyDork95  205.0 #1594 3:04PM
Ya the source came from an internet article shortly after film was shown and reviewed. I'm not happy about this either but I doubt Disney would ban video recording. That would be taking away opportunities to make Disney memories. - DisneyBoy9  32.2 #4356 3:11PM
Could just be speculation - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  1841.0 #43 3:15PM
The internet never lies!!! - 24ozOFgoofy  4.3 #12499 4:09PM
Do you have a date with a French model? - Westcoast  83.3 #3286 4:30PM
Lol, 😂😂😂 - LilMissPixie84  35.1 #4245 5:54PM
That's sad that a few people had to ruin it for others. I have video of my son dancing at tea party, and dancing in the Phineas and Ferb dance. It'd be really sad if parents can't record those memories of those kids anymore because of this guy. - GarnerPhotography  321.4 #533 3:16PM
The fact that Disneyland is public access they will never be able to enforce this. - MainStUSA  67.8 #3506 3:16PM
It's private property. You cannot do whatever you want just because the public has access to a place. - aidensmama  339.4 #446 3:42PM
^ but its private property - tuesday737  1085.3 #79 3:42PM
Jinx on aidensmama ;) - tuesday737  1085.3 #79 3:45PM
Look up Pruneyard vs. State of California. I understand it's private property but it's Public Access. - MainStUSA  67.8 #3506 3:46PM
Disneyland is different than a mall. You do not pay to get into a mall. When you make a purchase there can be stipulations on that purchase. They also had season passes. When you purchase season passes you are going into a contract with the company. - aidensmama  339.4 #446 3:51PM
The verdict in this case was also narrowed on December 27, 2012. I just looked it up and it was severely restricted where this type of thing could take place. - aidensmama  339.4 #446 3:56PM
The film portrays a Dad who takes his family to Disneyworld and then gets a call saying he's fired. After that, he starts hallucinating demonic characters in rides and chases two french high school girls throughout the park. This is not right at all. - DisneyBoy9  32.2 #4356 3:52PM
I'm sorry, but this plot will be used the next time I play ultimate balderdash. - LittleAprilShowers  500.8 #241 4:00PM
So it's National Lampoon's Vacation, Christmas Vacation and European Vacation all in one? - NotSoDapperDan  313.6 #561 4:06PM
Like I've said before it can never be enforced. Disneyland has retail, restaurant and entertainment sections in the park. The Pruneyard decision would be referenced in a liability claim. End of story. - MainStUSA  67.8 #3506 4:01PM
Can you please use the reply button? It makes the conversation flow, rather than trying to search through the thread to figure out the conversation ;) - MEHlanie_Mouse  750.4 #135 4:16PM
He is wrong anyway because they changed the ruling. I am not going to argue the point but they couldn't use this case to validate that their movie can make money. - aidensmama  339.4 #446 4:53PM
I think that if you do what this guy did, you're in trouble. As long as you don't show your video somewhere big without Disney permission, you should be fine. - DisneyBoy9  32.2 #4356 7:22PM
There is a huge difference in what this guy did compared to what families do when recording their families adventures. He staked out times, places and blocked the shots so that they could be filmed while Disneyland would have no idea and then brought in actors. THEN took it to Sundance. His whole intention was to sneak behind their backs and make the movie. Families enjoy their vacation together are a completely separate thing. I'm sure Disney will make a smart and wise decision in regards to all of this. - MrsSchnooks  714.5 #142 7:30PM
What about the people/children that were filmed without their knowledge? I heard that they did interact with guests and CMs that weren't actors they brought in. I'm just curious. - kss4tink  216.8 #1428 8:42PM
