Good morning! This day in Disney history, Jan 24th, 1941. "Pluto's Playmate" directed by Norman Ferguson is released. Pluto has some frustrating encounters w/ a couple of characters from the sea. For a giggle, watch here: http://is.gd/CQeLly
β¨Also on this day in 1993, Mickey's Toontown opens at DL. Happy 20th birthday Toontown! Do you like this area? What is your favorite attraction there? For more photos: http://is.gd/YrD8iF
As always thanks for reading! :)
When I was younger toontown was so much fun and full of things to discover. But now it seriously need a refurbishment, update and TLC! It's starting to become the sketchy part of DL. - Miss-E-Mouse

I honestly am rather meh on Toon Town. I like that Mickey and Minnie have their houses there and both houses are very fun, hands on places for minis. I like Gadget Go Coaster, but don't make the trip out there just for that. I'm not a fan of Roger Rabbit. The little garden play area is a plus. I just feel like the place needs some re-imagineering. Places like Donald's boat and Goofy's house are spaces with great hands- on potential for the minis but really fall short. The musical fountains haven't worked right in years and the little trolly car looks so sad just sitting there. Didn't the treehouse used to have a slide? Now it's so un-interesting. I just feel like toon-town has gotten neglected and really has great potential but is not up to modern Disney standards. - MoonWillow

I remember Donald's house and the treehouse had a slide. The treehouse also had a ball pit with acorn-balls :]. - MEHlanie_Mouse 690.1 #146 1:01PM
You don't want to know about the ball pit. π· - bluefairy 627.0 #174 2:28PM
Lol! Yeah, there are some changes that are just for the best! - MoonWillow 367.4 #378 2:47PM
I completely forgot about the ball pit. ππ· - Duchess_SMK 3253.8 #11 5:27PM
If they got rid of toontown where would everyone live!? - AshleyLynn22

As always SMK... You do a great job. I love to learn and look forward to your posts! I remember this cartoon. Disney cartoons were so much better than anything else. Don't get me wrong, I loved Bugs Bunny, Beanie and Cecil, Jonny Quest, Clutch Cargo, but Disney cartoons were hands down the best! I like Toon Town because it is fun to explore and Go Go Gadget Coaster is one of the little known great rides, but TT would be more fun if my minis were still mini and it could use some imaginearing TLC!!! - Boundin

I didn't see ToonTown until 2006. I agree that it needs a makeover. The trolley that doesn't run makes no sense. Ava got on last time we were there, and was heartbroken that it would not go anywhere. - ScooterMike

Big fan of that are and I agree that it needs some TLC. Roger rabbits car toon spin is also great, but I think it could also use another ride back there. The meet and greats make it worth while too. - MakilHeru

That is so cute with Pluto, thank you! We like certain parts of Toontown...but we really don't spend tons of time there to be honest, even with my little ones. Agree it could use some improvements! Thanks for the awesome post!! π - MinnieMousewife

I like toontown, and i agree it needs a face lift. My favorite part of toontown is the symphony fountain and you jump on an insturment on the ground and it plays that sound! the post office is a lot of fun too - GoofyMom77

Toontown was amazing when it opened. I think with all the new technology Disney could really amp up the interactive features. Donald's boat and Chip and Dales treehouse get looked over. Cartoon Spin is one of my favorite attractions though! That queue is amazing!! - BettyPoop
