Hi all! I'm taking my husband to the parks this Friday and I've told some of you this, he's never really had a great time at DL. (For various weird reasons) I'm making it my mission to have a great experience but I'd love some unique suggestions to make it unforgettable. I'm thinking of that post not too long ago about watching the fireworks from Storybook. Thanks, everyone!!!
Maybe make the day more about the experience the "feeling you get when are at Disneyland." I would make it less about the attractions and more about just being there. Get a hot chocolate or ice cream sit on Main St and people watch. Do things like the Tiki room, take in a parade, walk through the shops look at the little details. Go to DCA visit Carsland. Get a coffee and soak up the atmosphere of B.V Street. Show him the beauty in what Walt created and his love for the park can't help but grow.π

Amy, the Cove is an awesome bar in DCA overlooking the water. Great place to sit and relax π - MissMolly 697.6 #141 4:07PM
I know my husbands day revolves around food. Haha... So maybe do some research of places he'd like to eat and make reservations before hand if you need to. It might take the guessing out of the day for at least that aspect? - joybells

If it rains and he likes Star Wars take him to The Jedi Academy to get a picture with Darth Vader and Darth Maul. - HanLostLeia

Food, cocktails, private smooches and unique experiences (not often done things). Lily Belle, explore the island, fireworks from Storybook, check out inside the castle, ride the front or back of the monorail, animation academy, Mad T Party... - Linzee

Does he love food? Is he competitive? Assuming he ticks both components, a "man vs Disney food" challenge could be organised. E.g. Corn dog, turkey leg, funnel cake, dole whips. You could design a food challenge that stems across the whole park.... Whatever you decide, hope he enjoys the park for you :) - RapunzelledColey

I think everyone posted great ideas , especially gettin a few beers and good food in him. I also recommend packing your bathing suits and hitting the hot tub after you leave the parks . Make your evenings all about him... - eviljules

Why doesn't he have a good time? Crowds? Phobias? - mightymike10

Well he never went as a kid so no memories to relive...always gone with kids so he's mostly ridden the little rides, and then once we ended up going on a day that almost hit capacity (before MW, obviously ;) and he just wasn't into it. - MissMolly 697.6 #141 10:34AM
I didn't know this was possible, but there are some cool ideas on the Bucket List you could check out that might spark your husband's interest. :) - JRDrummer_CM

I know, right?? He's totally willing to try and see it the way we do, though, so I'm sure his mind will soon change! And he's really into my family's Disney connection so ill try to tie that in somehow. Thx for the suggestion! - MissMolly 697.6 #141 10:39AM
My hubby is the same. He looks forward to the food and drinks. I love hanging out at the fireplace in The Grand Californian hotel. You can get ππ»πΈand just relax there. - adventurerEnDisneylandia {AED}

Great call! And it looks like it will be raining so its even better. Thanks!! π» - MissMolly 697.6 #141 11:07AM
Mines the same. He really enjoyed the food & drinks at Trader Sams before heading into the parks. We just recently went for my daughters bday on a Wednesday and it was much less crowded and he had a great time. - Nicole

I am so glad that you posted this! I have the same problem. Mine just can't handle the crowds. He had an AP for a few years when the kids were little, but he never went. Now that our daughter works there, I think he will go. I love all of the suggestions, they are very helpful to me as well. He came out when he was a child in 1957 from Indiana. He was lost twice in one day. They put him on the Skyway all by himself. They told him to cross over to find his parents. How times have changed! Maybe that's why he doesn't like to go? - snowwannab

Oh, man! That's terrible! I'm sure your daughter can convince him otherwise. π - MissMolly 697.6 #141 11:06AM
Hi, we talked about this Sunday. I think he would love the bar at Napa Rose and of course The Cove. Get fast passes for Soaring & TOT. Stroll the Boardwalk with a beer from Karl and enjoy the view from the back entrance to Carsland. Have a great time! He better love Disney after Friday!! - ShariRenee

Do all the things you haven't been able to do with the girls, but most importantly, take it easy, hold hands and LAUGH! Let him feel the magic you feel and have fun! Don't wear out the Cove too early-great way to watch World of Color. (oh-and make out at the top of the WOD-π)πππ - TinkerSchelle

Oh-and try to lay low from us on your phone-I KNOW! Blasphemous-but better manners for him!π - TinkerSchelle 645.7 #167 2:26PM
Great advice about the phone TS! - MrsSchnooks 580.1 #189 4:51PM
Yes, thanks for the reminder!! - MissMolly 697.6 #141 4:57PM
I just love the Storybook fireworks idea! Have fun! Hopefully he will appreciate what you are trying to do and just love you all the more for it. And if that isn't fun, I don't know what is! - meridafan
