I wanted to post a warning about the special for tickets at Costco that was going on not too long ago and if they are still selling them (I don't know if they are). We flew out for Christmas and had our 4 day tickets a friend bought us. On the 3rd day we were denied entry. After some research I'm finally getting answers from Disney. Apparently our tickets were used 2 days in October. I'm thinking someone used them then returned them to Costco since they have a no questions asked return policy. I've had this happen with norton virus software before too. But that's not the point. Just wanted to warn anyone that may still have not used the tickets or will be buying them that you may have issues. Feel free to DM me if you have any further questions. Disney is still sorting it out with me as it's been taking forever because we play phone tag!
They aren't selling them anymore but that is very interesting. Thanks for the heads up! - brodysmommy

I would imagine Costco could access when you purchased these tickets because dont they swipe your membership card when making a purchase? If so, they could print it out for you and compare it to the first day the tickets were used. That way it would be easier to settle your issue. That is just crazy and I'm sorry that happened to you. - aidensmama

Yeah, no matter what there's always some crook, trying to come up with someway to steal, that is why its always best to double check the balance or whatever is on the card. I hope you somehow get your money back or ticket exchanged! - secretagentangel 669.6 #154 6:08PM
because I don't want to give any creepers any ideas, I can't say exactly how this happens, but there is a way for crooks with the knowhow to make a ticket from info they can get off the cards for sale. this happens a lot in the department stores and grocery stores. with Costco its a more complicated because they're supposed to keep those cards in the secured room. that is why when you buy any gift cards you need to tell the person you gave it to you to call immediately and either check the balance or that the tickets are good, because if a crook messed with them you can get it exchanged right away,
that's why you always keep your receipt. hope that helps sorry for the long post. - secretagentangel

I have heard about how they do this one the news and they said to always make sure when you purchase a gift card that nothing I'd scratched off the back. I think people should know that so they don't get taken either. - aidensmama 336.5 #445 6:00PM
*on. I fail at typing on a phone. - aidensmama 336.5 #445 6:01PM
I believe they do keep those cards secured. When you go to a Costco they have a piece of cardboard that you take to the front and either give you the tickets from under the till or you go to a caged room where they give them to you there. - Waites4DodgerEars 659.9 #158 6:02PM
It could be a Costco employee fraud in this case. - aidensmama 336.5 #445 6:03PM
Call the Costco you purchased the tickets from & ask to speak to the warehouse manager. They should take care of you especially since you have the info from Disney. The tickets sold at Costco came directly from Disney, not another source. Costco will take care of you - I've worked for them for over 25 years & at our building we take care our members. - Anders

Wow, that is just silly. Sorry you have to go through this hassle. I wouldn't blame Disney, but would question Costco about this. Can't be the first time this has happened. I'll definitely keep this in mind if I purchase tix from Costco. - proudcanuck

But how were they used in October and December? They say they expire 13 days after first use... - brodysmommy
243.7 #1064 5:28PM
And in October they were printing names on the daily tickets so how did they not have a name on them? - brodysmommy 243.7 #1064 5:30PM
I have no idea. I don't even know how the people did it because the first day we were at DL they printed our names on the tickets! The first day I know they had to override something too but I have no idea what it was, so obviously this was it... - disneymommy0910 233.9 #1186 5:32PM
Sometimes Im not surprised people do this. It's so sad but I know it happens. I'm so sorry this happened to you, I hope you brought this up to Costco for them to review certain return policies - MarshaMouse

Yeah it is sad. I will take up the issue with Costco once I have it all sorted out with Disney. But I doubt they will do anything about it. It could be easily said that the tickets didn't work and they wanted to exchange or whatever. When I had the norton virus thing it was obvious the person used it then returned to costco but still got the 1 year subscription. I contacted Norton and they disabled their account since it was tied into the serial numbers or whatever that I had... but when I went back to Costco to deal with it all they did was give me a store credit so I could go exchange it. They don't do the exchanges at the return desk. I think yes they do need to change their policies! Sorry got on a tangent! - disneymommy0910 233.9 #1186 5:36PM
Just playing devil's advocate, but maybe your friend used them or got them from someone who did? 😬 I don't think they sell them anymore, though, I went to buy some before Christmas and was told that no stores had them anymore. - bluefairy

This friend would never do anything like that. He didn't even buy them until November after he asked us if we wanted them when he was in the actual Costco. He also knew we were going to use them all 4 days - disneymommy0910 233.9 #1186 5:40PM
Oh that's terrible :( I'm sorry you had that problem. I love Costco and their return policy but I would say that is on Costco and they need to look into that. - Goofymom2

Wow! This is crazy! I guess it is lucky you were even able to use them at all though since they usually expire within 14 days of first use! That sucks! - TinkerSchelle
645.4 #167 5:31PM
Sorry that this happened to you, but I thought that those tickets expire 13 days after first used no matter how many days are left. How in the world the tickets still work around Christmas time if they where first used in October. I think someone is lying to you. - VfxGenie

I really don't know, this is what Disney has informed me of. We are still trying to sort it all out. - disneymommy0910 233.9 #1186 5:41PM
I have use them and they make you sign them at the gate with a sharpee. There is no way that someone could use them and then return them. I even watched as a woman had to go to member services to prove it was her because she signed it before arriving. This must be some horrible coding mistake or something. The 5 we bought worked great and we are planning to use 4 more next week. - peckishpixie

that's why I was so surprised to get the message today that they were also used in October! We had to sign them and they printed our names on them... so who knows?! I was just trying to get the word out for those that hadn't used theirs yet. Keep your receipts!! - disneymommy0910 233.9 #1186 5:45PM
In October, they weren't requiring people to sign them. I never got asked when I was there then to sign mine. - HasAnyoneSeenMyGlassSlipper 323.6 #507 6:00PM
At the same time, I thought they expired not long after the first use. - HasAnyoneSeenMyGlassSlipper 323.6 #507 6:01PM
Also, when I got there this time I remembered that they take your picture and it comes up every time you use the ticket. You can't get through the gate on someone elses ticket. Someone is not telling the truth - peckishpixie 3.5 #16916 4:12PM
I've heard of Costco taking back rusty lawn furniture. Clearly there's nothing wrong with them except you left them out in the rain and now want new ones. What a silly policy. - cesium55
529.7 #216 6:23PM
Nordstrom's is the same way. I've heard stories about people returning shoes that were obviously worn across the country and back or old pants that no longer fit. - aidensmama 336.5 #445 6:25PM
Have you heard the story where they'll take back anything even if it's not from their store and someone returned tires? - cesium55 529.7 #216 6:32PM
Nordstrom's is really good though. A pair of shoes my mom bought had a red lining that the dye bled into her socks and they even replaced the socks - cesium55 529.7 #216 6:33PM
To Nordstrom or Costco? Lol. Ya. I guess they have found it beneficial to live by the idea that the customer is always right. I once took a scarf back to Nordstrom (which I did purchase there) and the sales girl insisted they didn't sale that company's line but would take it anyway. I went back a week later and they had a ton of scarfs by that brand. I felt like yelling at the girl. My only bad experience there but yes they take anything back. - aidensmama 336.5 #445 6:36PM
The problem for the consumer is not that they take anything back, but that they don't thoroughly check whether the item is in sellable condition before they put it back on the shelf. - bluefairy 627.1 #174 10:43PM
Sorry this happened to you. Thanks for putting this out there for anyone else who may have purchased tickets through Costco and had problems. It really comes back to this; the best way to purchase your tickets is through Disney. The only other ways I would trust are military, travel agent, and personally, my employer (because I've purchased through my employer so many times.) - MousekaNinja

What a mess, I hope you make sure Costco is aware of this they should not accept a return of tickets or gift cards and if it isn't against their policy it should be! - akpoppins
243.3 #1070 8:29PM
I agree, stuff like that should be non returnable - MarshaMouse 2868.0 #15 9:35PM
I don't know that gift cards are refundable, they generally are not at other stores. If they were, I would think they would check the balance first and void it out rather than put it back in circulation. - bluefairy 627.1 #174 10:46PM
