Has any one ever lost a kid at either park? I almost did today....it was the scariest feeling ever!

I lost my husband once after he had a few Mad Long Islands. I eventually found him sitting in the middle of the esplanade, thank you 'find my iPhone' 😂 - Linzee  515.8 #226 8:05PM

Lol @ linzees husband! I could see my hubby doing this. 😂😂😂 - dumbbunny  113.6 #2837 10:55PM
I'm very Watchful of kids, and I think I posted this before, but one time I was with my nieces and nephews watching them like a hawk (yes EVILQueen) and I turned my head for two seconds, and I looked back, my youngest nephew was already about 30 feet away walking rhe other direction. Even the most watchful parent, uncle, aunt, grandparent....etc., looks away for a second. Doesn't make us bad people...just human! - DisneyDavidEMT  451.2 #273 8:22PM
And AMEN to this!!! - MrsSchnooks  572.3 #193 8:28PM
Yep & the little buggers are fast too! - ShariRenee  1505.4 #51 8:29PM

The only time you can ever say never is after you're dead. Up until then be careful because Karma has a nasty sense of humor. - DisneyGrandma  337.8 #440 9:08PM
I was the lost child once, when i as like 1. My mom and sister went to the bathroom, and my dad and I were in the Main Street Locker room. My dad took me out of the stroller to straighten it up, and I crawled into the open locker we were using, and it closed behind me. And that is why I was a child who wore a leash/harness... - fletheartsdisney  360.2 #387 9:16PM
Personally I like to leave Brooklynne home with her daddy so I don't have to worry about it! Geez who wants to take their kid to Disneyland?! Crazy people, I tell ya! - Deltachiq  969.0 #90 10:31PM
If you just leave her strapped in her stroller while you go on rides, you won't lose her! I love stroller parking! - FindMeAtTheCove  237.3 #1138 10:45PM
Tried to do that once. I was told by the group I was with I wasn't allowed. She was sleeping for goodness sakes and it really wanted to ride RSR opening week. It was only a 240 minutes wait. She would have slept through most of it! - Deltachiq  969.0 #90 10:50PM
Lol! Last time I borrow children.... - minnieluv  108.8 #2918 10:50PM
Even the most careful parents can lose somebody. The lost child/parent system at Disneyland is awesome, and I am SO happy they are!! - mrstoad  240.4 #1110 7:48PM
Evilqueen you have no right to judge. Quit causing drama! - MrsSchnooks  572.3 #193 7:58PM
EQ, you can't even keep track of the kids/stepkids/boyfriends kids you have on here, so please. - DisneyFanZoe  1096.7 #75 8:09PM
😂😂😂 @ DisneyFanZoe!!! And "AMEN!" @ MrsSchnooks! - DisneyDavidEMT  451.2 #273 8:16PM
*sigh* evilqueen, are you serious? Even the most watchful parent can lose a child in a place as busy as Disneyland. We once lost my lil cousin at AdventureDome in Las Vegas while he walked just a few feet away from us to throw something away in the trash can. He was five at the time and started following a family that was also wearing AZ Dbacks shirts that day. These things can happen to even the most responsible parents. - KermitFan13  407.3 #321 8:28PM
@DFZ 😂😂😂 and thanks David😃 - MrsSchnooks  572.3 #193 8:29PM
You are singling me out as your comment appears in the replies to my comment. Bad things happen to good people, and like I tell my kids, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." - mrstoad  240.4 #1110 8:30PM
Someone needs to get lost!!! 😏 - caramiapoohAKAface  1440.8 #54 8:33PM

@V8 😂😂😂😂😂 - MrsSchnooks  572.3 #193 8:41PM
Mrstoad is my mom and I can tell from experience that she is VERY watchful!! It's hard to get away with anything! ;) - mrtoadsdaughter  242.7 #1072 8:51PM
DFZ, you are the best :D lol - MEHlanie_Mouse  690.8 #146 9:09PM
Usually if you have to start a sentence with the word "sorry," you should just keep your mouth shut. - ladylikesdisney  921.5 #95 9:28PM
Yes, watchful parents CAN lose their kids. Children are small and quick. They can be gone in the blink of an eye. I thought I lost my babycakes once at Gymboree Play and Music. A gated in facility. I only looked away for one second. My heart dropped. Luckily I found him rather quickly. It can happen as quick as a car accident when closing your eyes to sneeze for one second. - aidensmama  336.4 #445 10:30PM
😂😂😂DFZ - cesium55  529.7 #216 10:52PM
I've helped many lost kids find their parents over the couple years I've worked in the park. It can get quite scary for both sides - BaseballMickey_CM  2826.1 #16 9:22PM
Thank you! - minnieluv  108.8 #2918 9:36PM
You're awesome BaseballMickey_CM It's good to know that there's people in the parks taking care of our kids!! Thanks!! - Superspacemountainfan  10.8 #6535 11:10PM
CMs rock!! Thanks for everything you do - JRDrummer_CM  789.4 #117 8:57AM
I got lost once after a parade in one of those crazy concert like crowds. It was at night and pretty scary. My phone was dead but I waited in the same spot like a good kid and eventually my wife found me - Philliprocks  276.1 #763 9:38PM
You guys need to have a meeting spot like my hubby and I do! We always meet in the hub if we're separated. LOL Also don't forget how helpful the CM's are! 😂😂😂 - MrsSchnooks  572.3 #193 11:09PM
As I always tell my kids, if you're not within tackling distance then you're too far. - Hagrid  26.4 #4556 7:41PM
Never lost one at Disneyland but did at Great America. It was terrifing. Took 45 min to find him on the other side of the park - GoofyMomma  191.5 #1726 7:33PM
And to make matters worse, you were at Great America 😂 - Slotherini  886.9 #99 7:36PM
Oh my! - minnieluv  108.8 #2918 7:53PM
no worst part was it wasn't even my child. - GoofyMomma  191.5 #1726 9:05PM
Scary to imagine! Thank goodness everything turned out ok. I'm in favor of the leash, but my wife not so. Having 2 is manageable, but 3+ can be tough! We only have 2 and that's hard enough! - snappy  272.6 #803 8:06PM
About 13 years go we lost my son at disney world He was 5 at the time. We came off pirates and stop to look he kept going. It was very scary. He was at the lost and found a cm took him there. He told them his mom and dad go lost. - Disneyforlife  203.8 #1575 8:07PM
Lol! Yeah, that's exactly what she told me... - minnieluv  108.8 #2918 8:11PM
LoL. I guess that is the reason why they have a sign outside of City Hall about lost parents looking for their kids. - KermitFan13  407.3 #321 8:30PM
My parents lost me as a kid when I was 6. My brothers and their baseball team (so about 12 boys) came up with the wonderful plan to play hide-&-seek on tom sawyer island. When it was time for lunch i was still hiding on the island alone. As I was crying my eyes out a CM was nice enough to play patty cake with me till my parents, about 10 minutes later came and got me. - CMallyg92  83.1 #3235 8:33PM
My niece got lost in toontown & was found by the Matterhorn a few years ago. The CM were great though!! They found her, thank the good Lord!! - Superspacemountainfan  10.8 #6535 8:58PM
It took that many years? Sorry, couldn't help it. JK - MrsSchnooks  572.3 #193 9:35PM
😂 - cesium55  529.7 #216 10:54PM
My sister lost her 5 yo. She was waiting in line while her hubby went to get something. They each thought the other had him, when her hubby returned 10 min later they relized what happened and went into panic mode! Found him 10 min later at a gift shop near by with a cast member! - julietyler76  4.1 #12929 9:08PM
It is scary Lil E walked away from Mom near Jedi academy when she was 3 or 4. Fortunately they found each other - E-Ticket  772.1 #128 9:09PM
PS. I told the kids to find a CM an tell them they are lost if they got lost. They never had to though - E-Ticket  772.1 #128 9:11PM
That is my worst nightmare! So scary for you! I lost my oldest when he was 2 at a subway. I went to pay and he ran out the door. I caught him half way down the block! It's been backpack leashes ever since. Yes I'm "that" parent. I'll take the nasty looks over the missing child any day! - Disneycrazymom  99.5 #3036 11:29PM
No matter how watchful you are, it can happen. When my oldest was about 2 or 3, my mother and I took her to the state fair where they had a Disney show going on. After the show, they had a huge area where they had bouncy stuff for the kids. I literally turned to my mother, handed her the diaper bag, turned back, and my daughter was gone! She disappeared in a matter of seconds! (She went running to climb on a bouncy, I guess, and was eventually returned to us by an employee because she still had her shoes on.) It was the scariest two hours of my life. Okay, it probably only lasted a few minutes, but it FELT like hours. A child can wander/run off in a matter of seconds, no matter how watchful the parent!! - jmgphx  322.7 #509 8:17AM
I watch my daughter like a hawk - ScooterMike  1959.8 #35 7:25PM
Exactly what I do!! - Witchie77  265.2 #868 7:38PM
Nope. But I can imagine how terrifying that was. - DisneyFanZoe  1096.7 #75 7:28PM
We thought we lost my nephew at the Halloween party! I've never seen my brother so freaked out and panicked in all my life! So sorry that happened to you but glad you had a good outcome. - MrsSchnooks  572.3 #193 7:34PM
I panicked..for a second I even forgot what she was wearing...good thing I always take a picture as soon as w get there.... - minnieluv  108.8 #2918 9:40PM
Excellent idea! - MrsSchnooks  572.3 #193 9:59PM
Even my kids being teens... They are under my eye at all times. Lots of great MWers in the park, but waaaaay too many cray cray too - dimplesdanie  607.5 #178 7:34PM

Another lame phone duplicate. Ugh. Sorry - dimplesdanie  607.5 #178 7:45PM
We lost our youngest once. We stopped at Grizzly Bear Rapids to check the stand-by time. We were all there one second, and the next our four year old was gone. My husband and daughters searched, and I ran to get help from a CM. Our rule is to sit down as soon as they realize they are lost, but a helpful stranger took him by the hand, and led him to Paradise Pier where they handed him off to a security CM. He was gone for about 15 minutes. Longest 15 of my life!! - mrstoad  240.4 #1110 7:46PM
I too have a "in case you get separated from me" plan, and remind the kids everytime before we walk into the parks...I just never thought I would have to actually use it...I am glad all went well for you too - minnieluv  108.8 #2918 8:08PM
Yes, the plan my brother uses is to stay in place. I don't know if either of you are familiar with the Halloween party but they have taped lines on the pavement of the park for trick or treating and they go back-and-forth and zigzag and it's really easy to not know which direction you should go because guests have been walking on the tape all night and that's how my nephew got confused. Fortunately we just went backwards in line and found him standing there about 7 yards or so from us. His Mom kept praising him for doing exactly what she always taught him. But still you don't know if someone could've snatched him. Scary thoughts go through your mind. - MrsSchnooks  572.3 #193 8:53PM
I like your plan of what to do in case it happens. I will Need to remind my youngest, well, for that matter, the older one too! Before our next trip. Thats where cell phones are handy for the older Ones though. The ability to text in the parks is a God send! - meridafan  1034.8 #83 9:22PM
Nope, but we use a child harness on very busy days when my dd refuses to hold hands. We get criticized heavily for this but better than a lost child. - CamEli  175.8 #1916 8:00PM
Agree - minnieluv  108.8 #2918 8:03PM
If you ever get a chance to watch modern family when they went to Disneyland that was a huge part of the episode. My husband I always smile when we see a child on a "tether". That's what they called it in the show. So sweet. Good for you. No one knows your child better than you and what's best for them. - MrsSchnooks  572.3 #193 8:59PM
My little one is fast and thinks it's a game to run away from me. She's at the independent string willed 3yo faze. Boy I hope it's a faze. lol - CamEli  175.8 #1916 9:01PM
I'll have to check that our MrsSchnooks - CamEli  175.8 #1916 9:03PM
MrsSchnooks I loved that episode and totally related to that storyline! - MousekaNinja  333.4 #455 9:29PM

Thank you all for making me feel better. I always watch them, especially because they are not mine, but a three year old sure is fast! She knew she did wrong by walking away from me...but I too learned my lesson...never look away! Lol! - minnieluv  108.8 #2918 8:02PM
Glad it all worked out. I can't imagine how scary that would be. - CamEli  175.8 #1916 8:18PM

Thankfully, Disney has an impeccable record of reuniting children and their lost parents. We found my 5 year old cousin in the first aid after losing him by the Matterhorn during a "who's got to go to the bathroom" fiasco. 😁 - bluefairy  627.1 #174 10:05PM
Is it weird that Disneyland is one of the few public places I don't totally freak out about this? I mean, has any kid ever been lost/kidnapped from Disneyland? They're so on top of it. - cynDOLEwhip  744.1 #137 11:34PM
I guess because they are not mine, I do try to be extra careful, but when you work with children (specially abused children) you never put your guard down, even at the happiest place on earth. They don't check Megan's list before they give you a pass.... - minnieluv  108.8 #2918 7:39AM
When we first visit Disneyland in 2010, there was a group of parents giving out flyers by the entrance to remind parents to be careful that kids can be very easily to get lost in the happiest place on earth. Looked like they had actually lost their own kids there before. This would be the worst nightmare to any parents. - RapunzalK  180.0 #1862 11:36PM
I received similar flyers around that time. Could be different ones, but the ones I got were being distributed as part of a scare tactic used by the union in a bitter dispute over their contract. - SneakyStella  292.9 #656 12:18AM
I have helped many kids find a CM to stay with until the parents find them. I usually have a keen eye to see when a child and parent gets separated and am quick to stop everything I am doing to make sure the child gets to an available CM ASAP. Even after I watch the child to make sure they get reunited. Freaks me out and I'm not a parent. - aprilinjune4  380.8 #355 8:21AM
Nope not yet. - Lelundrial  341.0 #427 8:23AM
During my last trip, I saw about 5 kids over the course of two days trying to find their parents (they all had CMs with them). It seemed like everywhere we went we saw a poor kid lost. - KylaShea  533.2 #214 8:25AM
I lost my son at a large amusement park in Carlsbad. The scariest experience ever! You don't joke about it even 10 years later. - MeridasHair  319.7 #521 8:26AM
I lose stuff everyday. - donnievegas  1127.5 #72 8:27AM
I didn't lose them per say. . . we were on Tom Sawyers Island. My kids knew not to leave the island without me, so I knew where they were. They also stick to together, so they weren't "alone". I'm 5'8" and have a little extra meat on the bones, so I don't move well inside the caves. After a couple laps on the island I did find them, together happy and playing, but I was on "high alert" mode thinking all the horrible what ifs. - GoofyMom77  108.7 #2919 9:03AM
