I have a huge announcement!! SpencerPhreak and I are planning on doing our first 5K on August 31st at the Disneyland half marathon weekend!!!!! This is a huge thing for us. Neither of us have done a 5k or even really run for that matter. Also many of you know that I am disabled and am in a mobility scooter because of these disabilities. Well for the last 4 1/2 months I have been on weight watchers and have lost almost 40 pounds since the beginning of my weight loss journey! Because of this I am not having to rely so much on my mobility devices! So I am starting a regiment or training next week using a 5k training app. I have 7 1/2 months to do this!! And I WILL do this!! As Walt Disney said: its kind of fun to do the impossible! Any advice would be so helpful for someone doing their first 5k! I know it won't be easy but I will be so happy to do it! This girl is now In Training!!
I can't even begin to tell you how proud I am of you, IAC!!! 40 pounds, and not using the scooter as much--what a huge thing! Congrats! As far as advice goes, I think it's really important to be consistent and to know that you'll have great days, good days, meh days, and crummy days, lol. What's important is to persevere through the training at a moderate level and give your body the rest and nutrition it needs to recharge. - Spoonful_O_Sugar

Thank you so much! And the 40 pounds has all been without any exercise! Imagine what I can lose with a regiment every week! I am so determined to do this! - ImAlwaysCrazy 646.4 #166 4:29PM
I really admire people like you. I'll be running my first half as well so I can't really offer many tips, but start off slow and I promise it will get easier each time. Nothing better than working hard to achieve your own personal goal๐. You're going to do great! - ScubaSteve028

Thank you so much! I am always happy to see people achieve their goals and I'm here on the side lines. Now I have a huge goal! And I'm so excited to do it! - ImAlwaysCrazy 646.4 #166 4:30PM
I just want you to know how happy I am for you both!! That's a huge step and you can (both) do it!! - Linzee

I am so happy to hear this!! You will do this and we will cheer you on if you ever feel you can't, because you have shown so much so far, I know you will too!!! Give yourself a mantra like "make it happen" or "I can do this" and use it when you need it! Congrats on making that step to living a life to the fullest!! - MarshaMouse

Thank you Marsha! I would love to have a cheese squad! It will just be one step at a time for me, but I am so determined! - ImAlwaysCrazy 646.4 #166 4:33PM
Lol cheer* squad! Cheese is good too! - ImAlwaysCrazy 646.4 #166 4:38PM
Wow what an inspiration you are! I would really like to try this but I am at the minimum 100 lbs overweight and a Senior. BUT was telling the daughter I would like to try a 5k. But now I am going to definitely do one. Thanks for the inspiration! !โฅ - sewgirl

I'm still 70 pounds til my goal weight but I'm still trying! I know with staying on track with WW and adding a walking/runnier regiment that I can make it close to goal by the 5k! I'm glad I could inspire someone. But I know anyone can run! - ImAlwaysCrazy 646.4 #166 4:37PM
I echo others on what an inspiration. You did this for you but it will create a dominoe effect and touch others. I have a lot of health issues but am mobil and struggle to lose weight. Thank you for sharing. This may be the nudge I and others who hear your story need. - HalfCaff

โบ Thanks! I just want to do something. My disabilities will never go away (not curable but not deadly) and I just want to be able to do something and stop doing nothing. Even thought have lost weight I have done no exercise. And I want to not only lose weight but also tone and shape up and be healthy. And adding a walking regiment will help and help me lose weight faster. I am so determined to be healthy and fit. If I have to live with the disability I want to look good and feel good too! - ImAlwaysCrazy 646.4 #166 4:43PM
I've never ran a 5K, so I have no advice to give you. I'm proud of you. Listen to your body, don't hurt yourself. Keep moving forward. - Mrs.mouse

You can do it! Dedication is the key and if you have that you can accomplish anything. When I first trained for the DL half marathon last year I couldn't even run a lap with out stopping. Nothing is impossible if you put your hearth into it. - VfxGenie

Awesome!!! ๐๐are you using the free 5k runner app? Was thinking about trying this too if my knees will let me. - mightymike10

I am going to use c25k (free) right now. I didn't have the $3 for the 5k runner app right now. I understand with the knees. I have austioarthritis in my right knee. It's not terribly bad but could get worse. However with losing so much weight I am also taking off alot of pressure on my knees. - ImAlwaysCrazy 646.4 #166 5:10PM
