Good morning! This day in Disney history, Jan 12th, 1957. Academy Award-winning director-writer-producer John Lasseter is born in Hollywood, California. He will work @ Disneyland as a Jungle Cruise skipper before starting his career in animation. Happy birthday Sir! :) ✨ Also on this day in 2001,
Downtown Disney (DTD) officially opens to the public. AMC Theatres also debuts its newest megaplex there. The theaters are housed in a 60,000-square-foot building showcasing architectural features reminiscent of the golden age of Hollywood. What's your favorite restaurant or shop in DTD?
I'm an Earl Of Sandwich fan at DTD. I've also seen some great bands play at House Of Blues. This includes Social Distortion, Brian Setzer, and the Cramps. - ScooterMike

John Lasseter, as you well know, has contributed so much to Disney animation, not the least of which are the Disney Pixar films. It cannot be stated enough. He is indeed a Disney legend. And I love so much about Downtown Disney. One of my favorite things to do is stop in at the Häagen-Dazs after a fun day in the park and grab a hot chocolate (especially while it's chilly like it's been). It just makes my day. Thank you SMK! I'd like to think I rode the Jungle Cruise on one of his cruises once a long time ago. Who knows? I also like to think I visited the magic shop as a child and was waited on by Steve Martin! We use to go in there on every visit. Sigh. Fun memories! - meridafan
