Good morning! This day in Disney history, Jan. 11th, 2002. Superstar Limo, a dark ride attraction running since the opening day @ DCA closes. This had the unfortunate honor of being the first thing to close from Day 1 DCA just 11 months after it premiered. It took another 4 years for a replacement to come, that being “Monsters, Inc.: Mike and Sulley to the Rescue!” in 2006.

😂 The caricatures kind of scared me - cesium55 529.7 #215 11:21AM
Ha! Bad is an understatement IMO 😂 Hi sic! 👋😘 - Duchess_SMK 3252.2 #11 11:25AM
I know what you mean... It was the epitome of celebrity worship. Something I still don't understand. - BambooMike 121.5 #2697 11:25AM
Hi SMK! Thanks for this, that was a fun blast from the past! Now I just need Soap Opea Bistro and im complete! 😂 ....As usual, I completely agree Mike! 😄 - Sweet_Irish_Cream 2523.5 #23 11:30AM
Happy you enjoyed it SIC! Happy Friday! 😘 - Duchess_SMK 3252.2 #11 11:45AM
It was Terrible!! Wise choice changing it to Monsters. - ZERO 302.6 #595 11:59AM
Interesting point, Mike. agreed. And how is THAT Disney related?? How did it EVER get the green light? Shoulda been nixxed from the first mention - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint 1772.6 #42 2:20PM
to be honest, how was anything in the original DCA disney related? - nicoleface 1247.5 #65 2:44PM
Yeah, I think it was mostly just geared towards the California theme... hard to have a Hollywood "land" without a Hollywood themed ride - KylaShea 533.2 #213 7:54PM
They were going for an EPCOT but only for California. Hollywood fell into that category. - cesium55 529.7 #215 8:34PM
I sent the link to my Mom and she sends me this text back, "O.M.G It was worse than I remember it!!!....." And goes on. Lol. Thanks for the laughs today! 😂😂😂 - Sweet_Irish_Cream

Awe! You're sweet kshea970! I'm sure my daughter would think the same thing actually! - Duchess_SMK 3252.2 #11 6:13PM

328.5 #478 11:29AM

108.5 #2920 11:33AM
dca 1.0 haha, prefer the monster inc but on the monster inc dvd/blu ray the monster attraction is different in disney japan u drive thru monstopolis with a flash light and look for monsters to appear kind like buzz lightyear trigger system ,in my opinion its better than superstarlimo not very disneyish.also the taxis in monsters are the same limo as memory of that locations past attraction. - pikarich
584.0 #186 12:13PM
😂😂 I remember riding it once, and it was so cheesy and odd. I believe they also reused some of those animatronics towards monsters inc. ie drew Carey is the CDA agent with the flyer things.. - MEHlanie_Mouse
690.1 #146 12:13PM
I remember it. It was funny, and kooky. Not, however, terribly Disney. It was out of place, and had a tenuous relationship to the rest of the park, at best... Funniest part was where they took your picture at the end. - ThatKimberly
334.5 #448 1:10PM
because of the look of shock and disbelief on the park goers faces? LOL - Duchess_SMK 3252.2 #11 2:18PM
I never even knew about this lol thanks for the history - Hendizl
1299.8 #62 1:19PM
I am so okay with this ride being gone :/ - tuesday737
1076.4 #78 1:21PM
I wonder what they were thinking when they put this ride in? - missyandpaul
255.7 #949 1:24PM
Yes i remember this well. I got on this every time since it opened in 2001 i was only 11 years old and i loved it but now that I'm older it was pretty cheesy. But what would i know at 11 - mante90
6.2 #8875 1:26PM
That was cute. I never saw it since the one time we went it was closed an the home the next time. - brodysmommy
243.6 #1060 1:28PM
Wow! All my youngest could say was creepy. I loved this post. I think I might have been a little disappointed with this ride. Yet, I feel compelled to watch this video again. - RadiatorSprings4Ever

167.5 #2039 1:39PM

4. Stinkin. Years. - Duchess_SMK 3252.2 #11 6:13PM
I remember that being the most awkward ride ever! (and what was with the Antonio/Melanie and Crawford? So random! I loved the confused look on the faces of the people at the end!!! Not a sign of an E-ticket ride!!! 😂😂😂😂 (ps-if it survived, I wonder if they would have switched to skinny drew??) - TinkerSchelle
632.5 #170 2:12PM
Never went on it. Looks like I didn't miss much. I watched the link with confusion and disgust lol - aprilinjune4

238.0 #1132 7:27PM
I never got to ride that, but I always did. After watching the video, it looks...odd haha. I don't know, but Joan Rivers and a bunch of cardboard cut outs of celebrities just doesn't scream Disney to me. Monsters Inc. is definitely better! - JoeDownTheRabbitHole
395.9 #336 7:49PM
Yeah i know it doesn't scream Disney but i guess they wanted it to go with the Hollywood theme - mante90 6.2 #8875 8:12PM
I never got to see it while it was there. That was the most hilarious thing ever! So completely odd! What were they thinking? - Autoalice
135.7 #2506 8:09PM
That was so funny. - Sharkgrrl19
202.9 #1584 8:26PM
Agreed, this was awful, but don't forget that when DCA first opened, it was built on the idea that there was to be no "Disney" connection between the two parks. Originally, it was supposed to be WESTcot, like EPCOT, which also had no Disney feel to it until recently. The public hated the lack of Disney, and the revamp we now know and love began. - susieQzee
480.6 #245 9:06PM
Monsters is so much better. Only went on the prior ride once and that was enough. We go on Monsters almost every time we go to DCA. - swvballmom
4.5 #11454 11:09PM
We went on it once and laughed through the whole thing!!! Once again... Great job! - Boundin
423.8 #298 11:34PM
Oh my stars! I never knew this even existed! All my husband and I can say is wow! This is some scary stuff! 😂😂😂😂😂 - MrsSchnooks
570.9 #192 12:13AM
I never rode this. Actually, my first visit to DCA was in 2007 so Monster's Inc was already there by my first visit. I kinda wish I could've experienced this attraction. - aidensmama
336.3 #442 12:38AM
