Good morning! This day in Disney history, Jan. 11th, 2002. Superstar Limo, a dark ride attraction running since the opening day @ DCA closes. This had the unfortunate honor of being the first thing to close from Day 1 DCA just 11 months after it premiered. It took another 4 years for a replacement to come, that being “Monsters, Inc.: Mike and Sulley to the Rescue!” in 2006. To watch a ride thru: http://is.gd/gaZmJY Do you remember this attraction? What did you you think of it?

It was Terrible!! Wise choice changing it to Monsters. - ZERO  308.8 #864 11:59AM
Interesting point, Mike. agreed. And how is THAT Disney related?? How did it EVER get the green light? Shoulda been nixxed from the first mention - misschurro  6362.1 #17 2:20PM
to be honest, how was anything in the original DCA disney related? - nicoleface  1752.6 #96 2:44PM
Yeah, I think it was mostly just geared towards the California theme... hard to have a Hollywood "land" without a Hollywood themed ride - KylaShea  632.7 #319 7:54PM
They were going for an EPCOT but only for California. Hollywood fell into that category. - cesium55  531.8 #390 8:34PM
I sent the link to my Mom and she sends me this text back, "O.M.G It was worse than I remember it!!!....." And goes on. Lol. Thanks for the laughs today! 😂😂😂 - Sweet_Irish_Cream  4409.0 #32 11:48AM
Spreading the funny, I love it! - Duchess_SMK  6340.7 #18 12:36PM

I don't think I even thought about getting on. Just the name itself was dull. - mightymike  272.8 #1140 11:19AM
Teehee - Duchess_SMK  6340.7 #18 11:39AM
Didn't really like it. Monsters Inc. is better I must say. - RickChavez  3671.6 #40 11:19AM
Good Answer! I knew there was a reason you were my friend! - Armenda  1159.7 #152 11:29AM
I concur! - Duchess_SMK  6340.7 #18 11:40AM
Saw pics at a site that has past rides on it. Can I mention that site? Creepy pics. - mightymike  272.8 #1140 11:23AM
I think that would be fine. I found a few but thought they were too scary to post. 😂 - Duchess_SMK  6340.7 #18 11:46AM
Yesterland. Cool site with past rides. I'm sure many of you seen it. - mightymike  272.8 #1140 1:17PM
Ah yes, I visit that site often! - Duchess_SMK  6340.7 #18 4:45PM
I don't remember it either and I couldn't make it through the whole ride via video ;)! Thanks Duchess! - ShariRenee  8577.7 #9 11:27AM
😂😂😂😂😂 that's bad! - Duchess_SMK  6340.7 #18 12:20PM
I have never heard of SL, after watching the video still not sure what I think of it! I love MI but I wonder if it didn't last long because its odd or the location? - piratelife4me  1047.3 #175 11:29AM
I think it didn't last long because it was odd! 😂 - Duchess_SMK  6340.7 #18 12:20PM
definitely odd! that bobble headed joan was freaky! - OhanaPhoto  5322.5 #21 2:33PM
I didn't get to see it live, I'm glad Monsters took it's spot. - GoofyMom77  904.1 #203 11:33AM
Me too! 😂 - Duchess_SMK  6340.7 #18 12:21PM
My first visit to DCA was after it closed :-( - PrincessDuckie  905.1 #202 11:33AM
Are you sad you missed it? - Duchess_SMK  6340.7 #18 1:50PM
Lol no I saw the video and it was scary awful! Sad it took me so long to get to DCA :-( - PrincessDuckie  905.1 #202 6:42PM
This ride was so cheesy. I think I rode it only once and stayed away. I was not upset when this one closed down. - LilSterner  5455.2 #20 11:56AM
Seems to be the consensus! 😂 - Duchess_SMK  6340.7 #18 1:52PM
Wow I don't remember that ride. Guess I never went on it - deppfan  33.4 #5675 12:06PM
Or it wasn't worth remembering....😂 - Duchess_SMK  6340.7 #18 1:53PM
This was the worst ride ever!!!! 😝😝😝😝👎👎👎👎 - caramiapoohluvsbb8  4088.5 #37 12:07PM
Tell us how you REALLY feel CaramiapoohAKAface !😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 - Duchess_SMK  6340.7 #18 12:22PM
Prime example of why the 'original' DCA was so bizzare - Linzee  1188.6 #146 12:09PM
I 2nd this! - Duchess_SMK  6340.7 #18 2:15PM
dca 1.0 haha, prefer the monster inc but on the monster inc dvd/blu ray the monster attraction is different in disney japan u drive thru monstopolis with a flash light and look for monsters to appear kind like buzz lightyear trigger system ,in my opinion its better than superstarlimo not very disneyish.also the taxis in monsters are the same limo as memory of that locations past attraction. - pikarich  5232.4 #23 12:13PM
DCA 1.0 LOL - Duchess_SMK  6340.7 #18 2:16PM
😂😂 I remember riding it once, and it was so cheesy and odd. I believe they also reused some of those animatronics towards monsters inc. ie drew Carey is the CDA agent with the flyer things.. - MEHlanie_Mouse  1116.0 #162 12:13PM
Good catch MEH! - Duchess_SMK  6340.7 #18 2:17PM
Wow, that was pretty bizarre! - MissMolly  1355.3 #129 12:21PM
I agree! LOL - Duchess_SMK  6340.7 #18 2:17PM
I remember it. It was funny, and kooky. Not, however, terribly Disney. It was out of place, and had a tenuous relationship to the rest of the park, at best... Funniest part was where they took your picture at the end. - ThatStarWarsKimberly  408.0 #551 1:10PM
because of the look of shock and disbelief on the park goers faces? LOL - Duchess_SMK  6340.7 #18 2:18PM
Yepper! - ThatStarWarsKimberly  408.0 #551 4:57PM
I never even knew about this lol thanks for the history - Hendizl  2821.9 #46 1:19PM
I am so okay with this ride being gone :/ - tuesday737  1283.4 #134 1:21PM
I wonder what they were thinking when they put this ride in? - missyandpaul  285.8 #1005 1:24PM
Yes i remember this well. I got on this every time since it opened in 2001 i was only 11 years old and i loved it but now that I'm older it was pretty cheesy. But what would i know at 11 - mante90  8.6 #12141 1:26PM
That was cute. I never saw it since the one time we went it was closed an the home the next time. - brodysmommy  430.9 #508 1:28PM
Wow! All my youngest could say was creepy. I loved this post. I think I might have been a little disappointed with this ride. Yet, I feel compelled to watch this video again. - RadiatorSprings4Ever  1569.0 #106 1:30PM
LOL! Really?! Once was enough for me! ;) - Duchess_SMK  6340.7 #18 2:19PM
Lol Yes, once in a lifetime is good! - PrincessDuckie  905.1 #202 6:43PM
This was so weird! I remember looking at my sister after we rode it, all we could say or think was..."really?!?"...thanks for the laughs with this history post!! Happy Friday! 😊 - MinnieMousewife  914.1 #201 1:38PM
TGIF MinnieMousewife! xx - Duchess_SMK  6340.7 #18 2:19PM
Where did all that stuff go? - earthgrl26  205.7 #1918 1:39PM
Who knows. I'd sure hate to be in a storage room with the creepy animitronics. - mightymike  272.8 #1140 1:54PM
nightmares!!!! - Duchess_SMK  6340.7 #18 2:20PM
They probably share a room with the Burger King and the creepy Duracell family. - mightymike  272.8 #1140 2:56PM
Awesome! Not a great attraction, but was certainly better than the nothing that wasthere for several years! - Mikesaxclar  679.8 #294 1:55PM
Wow!! Creepy! And sat for 4 years? Wow! - misschurro  6362.1 #17 1:59PM
4. Stinkin. Years. - Duchess_SMK  6340.7 #18 6:13PM
I remember that being the most awkward ride ever! (and what was with the Antonio/Melanie and Crawford? So random! I loved the confused look on the faces of the people at the end!!! Not a sign of an E-ticket ride!!! 😂😂😂😂 (ps-if it survived, I wonder if they would have switched to skinny drew??) - TinkerSchelle  1981.1 #82 2:12PM
Never went on it. Looks like I didn't miss much. I watched the link with confusion and disgust lol - aprilinjune4  483.5 #438 2:58PM
Never heard of it. Love Monsters, Inc.! - MeridaFan  4243.7 #34 3:55PM
I never got the chance to ride it. But I like the Monster's Inc ride anyways - leftmyheartinwonderland  359.9 #644 4:47PM
I never got to see this. I love monsters inc. - DisneyVacationLover  505.0 #422 6:00PM
Wasn't who wants to be a millionaire there??? I went in June of that year and remover doing that! - DLlovingMommy27  238.0 #1496 7:27PM
I never got to ride that, but I always did. After watching the video, it looks...odd haha. I don't know, but Joan Rivers and a bunch of cardboard cut outs of celebrities just doesn't scream Disney to me. Monsters Inc. is definitely better! - JoeDownTheRabbitHole  402.2 #561 7:49PM
Yeah i know it doesn't scream Disney but i guess they wanted it to go with the Hollywood theme - mante90  8.6 #12141 8:12PM
I never got to see it while it was there. That was the most hilarious thing ever! So completely odd! What were they thinking? - Autoalice  161.4 #2545 8:09PM
That was so funny. - Sharkgrrl19  255.2 #1299 8:26PM
Agreed, this was awful, but don't forget that when DCA first opened, it was built on the idea that there was to be no "Disney" connection between the two parks. Originally, it was supposed to be WESTcot, like EPCOT, which also had no Disney feel to it until recently. The public hated the lack of Disney, and the revamp we now know and love began. - susieQzee  555.8 #366 9:06PM
Monsters is so much better. Only went on the prior ride once and that was enough. We go on Monsters almost every time we go to DCA. - swvballmom  6.7 #14586 11:09PM
We went on it once and laughed through the whole thing!!! Once again... Great job! - Boundin  711.7 #272 11:34PM
Oh my stars! I never knew this even existed! All my husband and I can say is wow! This is some scary stuff! 😂😂😂😂😂 - Cinderella_Schnooks  3370.7 #42 12:13AM
I never rode this. Actually, my first visit to DCA was in 2007 so Monster's Inc was already there by my first visit. I kinda wish I could've experienced this attraction. - aidensmama  340.3 #704 12:38AM
No you don't. Thy ride was truly atrocious. - Slotherini  1079.8 #169 12:55AM
Thanks for sharing. I had NO idea this ever existed. Very, very interesting. - ddmansprty  298.6 #927 1:01AM
