I was ready to take a Disney trip and just found out my kitty has diabetes and needs an insulin shot 2x a day 😿 so this puts trips on hold of course. Anyone have a kitty with diabetes? Any tips? Thanks guys! At least I have the lounge to see live pics 😸

They do--that's a great suggestion! - Spoonful_O_Sugar 436.3 #285 4:15PM
Our dog had to have 2 shots daily also. We did this for 5+ years. Teach a friend how to give them or board with your vet, and they can give them. Sorry to hear this. - DisneyGrandma

How old was you dog when diagnosed? I'm hoping my kitty will live his full life span now. - minnieMisty 215.8 #1405 2:40PM
She was around 4-5, and lived till she was 11. - DisneyGrandma 339.4 #433 4:13PM
There are also people who are pet sitters that can come to your house everyday and care for your kitty. It's not very expensive. Cheaper than boarding. - DisneyGrandma 339.4 #433 4:16PM
Thank you! Turns out my vet is very cheap and they're excited to have him as needed 😺 - minnieMisty 215.8 #1405 8:35PM
Thanks you guys! I was hoping to have a trusted family member, but turns out I don't. That's a whole other story. I just hope the vet isn't too expensive 😿 - minnieMisty

Slim chance I know, but if you live in or around Pleasanton I'd be more then happy to give your kitty the shots. Vet boarding isn't too expensive either. - Linzee

I had a cat that was diagnosed with diabetes when he was 8. He lived on insulin for another 6 years and was a very happy kitty. I know they seem really miserable when they first get back from the vet (at least mine did he was in the vet for 3 days on fluids and having tests done) but he'll bounce back quickly and you'll get used to giving the shots. My kitty would run to the fridge when it was time for his shot and start nuzzling me and purr. Good luck everything will be fine:) - princessamandamarie

You have no idea how much I needed to hear this! 😸 Thank you! My kitty is 11 and I know he has so much more life. I know it's hard changes, but he's already looking awesome! And yes, he meows up a storm at feeding/injection time 😸 - minnieMisty 215.8 #1405 8:34PM
What the others said...DL Kennel, cat sitter, and many boarding places offer medical assistance. - Gia
