Dec 28, 2012 11:22 AM  Disneyland Talk Land
It's very busy in the parks today. Had to assist with a lost child right outside Cars Land, it was heart breaking. Luckily we found her family fast, not that it needs to be said but please keep a close eye on your children with so many people in the parks.

Unfortunately kids can be very fast and out of your sight in a second. I've had it happen to me where he is right next to me and the next second I can't see him. Last time at Disneyland this happened when getting off the storybook boats. Luckily he knows to stay in place but my heart still sank. Even the most alert parent can get caught off guard. - aidensmama  340.1 #640 11:33AM
This is very true. - DisneyFanZoe  1146.0 #132 12:01PM
Make sure your child knows a cell phone number or write it down and Pin it in their pocket. Also, remind them to ask a cast member for help. Show them what cast members might be wearing. - DeaG  9.3 #10208 12:15PM
This is such a serious topic, but I have a slight smile thinking of how we lost my dad this summer...and he doesn't have a phone or remember any of our numbers (he just pushes a # on the landline at home). We found him not long after, but my boys and mom and I all giggle about losing grandpa still! HE CAN TELL YOU ANY BASEBALL STAT THAT EVER OCCURRED, BUT CAN'T REMEMBER OUR PHONE NUMBER! 😜 I LOVE my daddy! Great tip about the phone number in his pocket!!! Next time!!πŸ‘ - TinkerSchelle  1428.9 #98 10:56PM
There's a kiosk in DTD that personalizes leather bracelets. I had one made with my dad's cell number on it in case my mom (dementia) wandered away from him when they were out and about. - susieQzee  555.6 #325 6:37PM
Hey...thats why you looked familiar today possibly..wondering if it was ypir family this summer that we were trying to help find the Dad/Grandfather who they lost...he was supposed to stay on a bench in the Hub and ended up wondering to the gates? Was that I your family? Tinkerschelle? Lol! - yellowtonka  241.4 #1367 7:06PM
πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚-oh the poor grandpas! No-that one wasn't my daddy: he left afterPOTC to get a stroller and the fam thought he must have then headed to exit to go to DCA(the plan) actually-they got there-no gpa! Gma went back and he was still waiting w/stroller! (Apparently my dad DID stay put!)πŸ˜±πŸ‘ - TinkerSchelle  1428.9 #98 10:42PM
At the end of Main Street in the nursery they give you stickers to write down their name and a phone number to contact incase kids get lost. I use it in busy days plus my little one loves the mickey sticker. - TINO  379.2 #540 7:40PM
The best advice I have ever heard was give each child a laminated card or else waterproof ink on very thick paper. On it have child complete name DOB home address allergies and telephone. Name of parents both of them with their phone numbers. Name of all people in the park with them and any of their cell numbers. Plus one person who is not in the parks contact info with address and phone numbers. Place a photo of parents in clothes they are wearing in the park. I take an individual picture on my phone of each of my kids. On their AP accounts I also have all phone numbers listed. Yes a different card for everyday in the park in your clothes. A different picture everyday they can easily be distributed to security and police with a phone. If I bring out of town guests I do this for their kids. Don't write it on their body it comes off!! I lost my son at Legoland they are quick and it literally takes a second. Last year I dealt with a lost kid who did not trust me because I did not have a stroller. A fellow safe male MWer went to get a CM while we followed the crying kid who was trying to find a Mom with a stroller. Please show them the CM badges and they need to show their card if lost. I tell my kids this 3-5 times a day in the park and they went 75 times. - MeridasHair  346.5 #622 6:32PM
Omg it's so hard, my son is so used to being spoiled with being at the parks, that he forgets that he has to stay close to me when it's crowded. He gets used to having more room and space and I constantly have to remind him, it's too crowded you have to stay right next to me. So yes please remind your child, it's too crowded you must stay right next to me - MarshaMouse  4102.5 #25 11:30AM
Yes. Remind your child to stay next to Marsha πŸ˜‚ - Slotherini  1054.2 #151 12:26PM
Ok Slotherini, i too will remind my children to stay next to MarshaMouse, but I know they are gonna wonder whyπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ - TinkerSchelle  1428.9 #98 10:36PM
Oh dear. Thank goodness you found the family! That is the nice thing about strollers. That would be very scary for a child. And the parent! Thank you! - MeridaFan  3506.2 #32 11:32AM
Even though some people think its funny when you get lost at DL, its scary! I've had to deal with lost children pretty often in the jungle and when the parents don't show up for a while, we even get scared. Great advice - BaseballMickey_CM  6778.9 #9 11:32AM
I read somewhere that in the 57 plus years the park has been open there has never been a lost child..... lost boys of neverland were not included for obvious reasons - GrumpyPirateDad  1830.4 #76 11:39AM
You mean an unrecovered child? - aidensmama  340.1 #640 11:52AM
A cast member told me this on my last visit. Also said families are also usually reunited within a few minutes. - MomOf2Pirates  225.7 #1560 11:57AM
That's so awesome that there's never been an unrecovered child at Disneyland!! - SarahLovesDisney  82.2 #3709 7:07PM
Thank goodness the child and parents were reunited quickly. - ima-pirateswife  706.7 #234 12:23PM
I say leash, but my wife says no! - snappy  345.4 #625 10:31PM
My sister added a tag behind my nephews back just in case. The tag stated his name and my sisters phone number. I thought that was a great idea. - adventurerEnDisneylandia {AED}  802.2 #201 10:39PM
Speaking of lost kids, there was a little girl who was separated from her parents for over 2 hours tonight. Of course there were CMs escorting her for most of the time and we even got her a thicker jacket, but still couldn't find them after a couple hours. I don't know the end result, but hopefully they were reunited - BaseballMickey_CM  6778.9 #9 10:42PM
2 hours!? Aww! I would be in tears 😩😩😒😒😒 - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  5012.0 #18 10:44PM
I so could not handle that. Two hours is such a long time for a kiddo. Hope the end result was not long after that. - Tinkerbellmom4  404.7 #499 10:49PM
2 hours seems like a long time. If I had lost one of my kids for 2 hours I would be in tears and every CM I came in contact with would have my cell phone #. - Boundin  587.3 #308 11:09PM
^^^ And on top of that I'd be running around like a chicken with my head cut off - KylaShea  632.7 #283 11:13PM
2 seconds is scary enough. I think I would almost die if I lost my kid for 2 hours. - aidensmama  340.1 #640 11:14PM
That is scary! - MeridaFan  3506.2 #32 11:25PM
Oh my goodness!! - imnoprincess_CM  236.6 #1414 5:59PM
Last summer my friend's 8 year old son became separated from them after the parade. He actually left the park, boarded the tram and was found in the parking structure by another guest . This guest returned him to the parks where everyone was reunited. He was gone a total of 45 minutes. Crazy😬 - RadiatorSprings4Ever  1011.7 #161 7:37PM
Thankfully they found their parents fast. I am so scared for this to happen even when the park isn't crowded. I always hold my daughter's hand and don't let her run off. I sometimes see parents not paying attention to where there kids are and I want to say something like hello there goes your kid but I don't I just think it. - minniel0verβ„’  214.6 #1716 10:42PM
My wife and I don't have kids, but lots of nieces and nephews. On summer not too long ago my sister and her husband were celebrating their anniversary and brought the kid to Disneyland with them. They stayed for 1/2 day at the park and then asked if we'd watch the kids for the rest of the evening while they went off to dinner and some other stuff. Sure (says the uncle that had never watched 4 kids at a time). Fortunately my sister had all the kids dressed in red shirts so they were easy to find. UNFORTUNATELY, Uncle David wasn't that attentive and was soon holding the hand of a little boy telling him to stay with me (without looking down at him). My wife and the mother of the child whose hand I was holding were behind me laughing! (It wasn't my nephew I was dragging along!). - DisneyDavidEMT  1971.9 #67 7:15PM
This isn't just for kids either. My husband hates taking his phone in the parks although he may now that he has a new phone, I know that if we ever get separated we meet at the hub. We often split up to get fp or buy something. Plus you never know when you're going to break your phone or your battery will die. - MrsSchnooks  3009.3 #38 7:22PM
Went to the park two weeks ago and rented a stroller for my 3 year old hoping to contain her. She didn't use the stroller all day. I was lucky she stayed by my husband and my side all day. I was paranoid at first with all the crowds. It was her first trip and she loved it. My 7 year old son was the one who mostly used the stroller. - MonLuvsDisney  192.0 #1988 7:30PM
We just got RoadID bracelets for my niece and nephew. They are perfect for adults too who bike, hike, jog etc. it's always a good idea to have some form of ID and emergency contact info on you, especially for kids. - Mimmy  1442.3 #96 7:32PM
Earlier this week there was also a table in DTD by Rainforest. That was doing child IDs. I didn't see them here tonight, but maybe during the day still :) - MEHlanie_Mouse  1114.5 #138 7:57PM
Note to self--don't hire David to babysit my kids. ;-) - MeridaFan  3506.2 #32 8:10PM
But at least he's an EMT...so there's that...πŸ˜‚ - TinkerSchelle  1428.9 #98 10:38PM
πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‰ - DisLUVney  577.1 #314 10:47PM
We had a wondering child once. We bought one of those kid leashes because we were afraid we would lose him again. - Murryd  300.5 #832 10:39PM
I've bought the temp. Tattoos that you can write your number on. All kids in our party wear them inside their forearm and we show them disney badges when we get there so they know who is safe to talk too - Minderella  299.1 #842 11:26PM

Disneyland unFORECAST (BETA) is here! Top MouseWaiters giving you the rundown of what's happening at the Disneyland Resort. The unFORECAST now has its own page on the web www.unFORECAST.com

unForecast for week of Monday, March 9, 2015:

Park Hours: DL: 9am-10pm (Monday-Thursday), 8am-12am (Friday-Sunday). DCA: 9am-9pm (Monday-Thursday), 8am-10pm (Friday-Sunday).

Taste Pilots Grill in DCA will reopen as Smokejumpers Grill on March 13 as apart of the new-themed area, Grizzly Air Field.

Attraction Closures: Critter Country (opens 4/3), Fortuosity Jewelry Shop (opens 3/13), Magic Eye Theater (TBD), Matterhorn (opens 5/16), Peter Pan (opens 5/8), Snow White Grotto (opens 5/1), Starcade (TBD), Soarin over California (opens 5/15), Grizzly River Run (opens 3/20), Luigi's Flying Tires (2016), World of Color (TBD).

unForecast Crowd Prediction: This week is the unofficial start of the Spring Break crowds, so expect the parks to be a little more crowded than normal. Also with only one showing of Fantasmic during the week, expect FPs for the show to go quickly along with it being crowded around the Rivers of America close to showtime. Throughout the week, expect CIs to be in the high 60s to low 80s for Disneyland Park and in the low 70s to low 80s for DCA.

Have a great week!

We have always noticed that Saturdays are better than Sundays! We always come on the weekend and say we want to leave at dinner time on Sunday, but always leave by 11-12 because there are so many people. We love Saturday!! - 1Princess3Princes  372.0 #557 5:39PM
I agree. I think it has to do with most passes being blocked - PoohSizedGuy  18.5 #6885 11:53PM
I love these posts!  I do have a question/request/suggestion...is there a way to only show the 3-4 most recent posts?  It's a lot to scroll through. @@Admin - TiggersAndTinks  117.1 #3152 5:08AM
I second this. The info is great to have, but it's too long.  - 1HitchhikingGhost  218.1 #1663 5:04PM
