Good afternoon! This day in Disney history, Dec 21st, 1937. Disney's 1st feature-length animated film, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" premieres at the Carthay Circle Theater in LA. The film features the voices of Adriana Caselotti (as Snow White) and Harry Stockwell (as the Prince). Workers at the studio present Walt with a backyard playhouse for his two daughters, a child size copy of the dwarfs' cottage from the film. (The Carthay will later be razed and replaced by an office building.) ✨Also on this day in 1960, Disney's live-action "Swiss Family Robinson" (based on the book by Johann Wyss) is released along with "The Horse with the Flying Tail". Filmed on the Caribbean island of Tobago (the smaller of the two main islands that make up the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago), Swiss Family's lavish pre-production planning and on-location shooting resulted in a budget that exceeded $4 million! Have you seen these films? What did you think? What are your favorite parts?
I love Snow White, one of my favorites! And I was just realizing the other day that I don't think I've ever seen Swiss Family, I should! Thanks Duchess for another awesome post, they truly brighten my day and I greatly appreciate you for taking the time for us!! 😊😊 - MinnieMousewife

Yes! For me, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is the embodiment of Disney animation. It's a masterpiece. The Swiss Family Robinson was a childhood favorite of mine and I still love to watch it today. Thank you SMK for singlehandedly holding off the apocalypse. I guess the Mayans did not count on you foiling their plans. - MyPark

Don't forget that this film was a huge risk for Walt as nobody had really done a full length animated film. But with the money he made, he built the studios in Burbank which jump started the entire company - BaseballMickey_CM
