Coughs get worse as they lay down. Elevate their lil heads and a lil cough medicine. We are experiencing Night #2 with this - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint

My little one is prone to coughing. Elevating his head at night has worked the best. My kids are older, but my Indonesian mother-in-law would put Vicks on their backs and then cut a fresh ginger root and rub it over their backs. It does loosen the congestion. I never knew about the feet. I will have to try that too! - RadiatorSprings4Ever 136.1 #2501 11:48PM
Okay, this will sound weird, but it REALLY works. Cover the soles of their feet in Vicks vapor rub and then put a few layers of socks over them. - DisneyDavidEMT

Didn't see the other comments about the feet trick, so I will just say...they are all correct!! - DisneyDavidEMT 451.6 #273 10:19PM
No great that you commented cuz cuz I totally forgot to add to put socks after to keep the warmth! - stevesdisneyprincess 80.7 #3268 10:21PM
Funny how we are all suggesting this! LOL - mrscttlemstr 236.9 #1144 10:23PM
And a couple of layers so the Vicks doesn't seep through and make a mess on the sheets - DisneyDavidEMT 451.6 #273 10:23PM
A lot of people do not know this but if you rub Vick vapor rub on the bottom of their feet it helps with coughing. Put socks on after you put the rub on. I know it sounds crazy, but it helps! - mrscttlemstr

I've had problems with asthma/bronchitis since I was a baby. The humidifier helps the coughing. Also, sometimes my mom used to boil water and pour it into a huge bowl. I would drape a towel over my head and around the bowl to trap the steam and breathe in deeply. I still do this when I get a chest cold--it's really soothing. - Spoonful_O_Sugar
