CONNECTIVITY TIPS AT DISNEYLAND: Please post your tips on how to combat the poor data coverage in the Parks. Maybe together as a community we can help make this better. It's BEYOND frustrating for me to invest money in upgrades to MouseWait when you can't even get online when the Park is crowded. It seems as if we've regressed back to the same poor coverage we had back in 2009. AT&T has been particularly bad, Verizon seems to have the best coverage at the Resort. Here are some things that work: Turn off AT&T's LTE, it is worthless right now at Disneyland, do a hard reboot of your phone, switch Airplane Mode off and on. Use AT&T's Mark the Spot app to report poor coverage. Please post your tips below and I will feature this posts during busy days. Let me know if you have any ideas of what we can do as a community to push for better coverage inside the Parks, we definitely have the numbers on our side. Thanks!

::whispers:: doesn't another app ALSO rely on coverage? And if so, Wouldn't said app want their app to be seen therefore make sure towers are about? I think a tower, hidden as a tree, done top notch, by the ImaginEars, would be a good thing - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  1798.9 #42 1:02PM

well the app may require it to work on cellular data but since Disney cast who puts those wait times in their app logs onto cast Wifi so they have a huge advantage - Dave   8640.6 #2 9:43AM
I wish they'd offer WiFi in the parks. I know for a fact that due to all of my posts on "other social networks," my friends and family members have either made plans to visit or have already visited the parks. *coughadvertisingcough* - susieQzee  480.7 #247 11:47AM

yesterday it did not matter what we tried it was like old times and was terrible in both parks on 4G and LTE. I did all my tricks and nothing worked for all apps, FB, IG, Google, HoneyBadger force field, you name it....ATT is junk - Dave  8640.6 #2 12:17PM

You do realize this is app thrives off user submitted wait times and live park pictures/news? - Linzee  517.2 #225 9:13PM
I completely agree. I think there should be something to be said about Disney not having the motivation to improve connectivity issues because one of the magics of Disneyland is that you are emerged into a world of magic and wonder. You can't be fully emerged if ur on your phone half the time. When I used to go to the parks frequently, I will admit that I'm guilty of working or doing things on my phone which are not related to my visit and looking back, I wish I didn't. - dsmdanny  139.7 #2446 5:10AM
Of course it would fix the problem, but nobody would notice because nobody would be using their phones... Which wouldn't happen in the first place. Yes, it isn't cool when people are constantly on their phone (and it makes me so mad when people are texting on Pirates, believe me) but it is possible to enjoy your visit and use your phone at the same time. - JRDrummer_CM  792.5 #119 9:17AM
great post.but when the parks are crowed the only advice i can give is to post from toontown, downtown disney, the parking structure the areas around tower of terror and paradise pier near goofys sky school because these areas tend to be less crowed or near the outside/street towers can pick it up.also posting early and after main fireworks/fantasmic when the crowds leave make it easy as well and finally create a collage of your day and post next day also works for me. - pikarich  611.8 #178 12:20PM
worst areas to attempt to connect are main street, adventure and frotierland, tomorrow land,carsland/bugsland and bvs. - pikarich  611.8 #178 12:23PM

Really?! Are there carriers with poorer coverage than Sprint? There very few spots I get any reception at all. But the good news is that I have unlimited data. Ironic, no? - alankeno  57.4 #3608 12:53PM
it depends on the area, i get poor reception on Sprint in tomorrowland, the rest of the areas are semi decent - Villescas8(V8)  589.1 #185 12:59PM
T-mobile. - LaTruce  1645.1 #45 4:13PM
For T-Mobile, I've found the best places for coverage at the resort include the smoking dock by Haunted Mansion (although I don't smoke anymore, it's still a good coverage spot), the esplanade between the parks, portions of the Grand Californian, and the bridge leading away from the food court next to Paradise Pier in DCA. Don't even bother trying near the castle or in Cars Land... there's no signal at either spot. Also, I sometimes get relatively reasonable coverage on the old boat dock that parallels the princess meet-and-greet area near Small World, but it seems to be better in the morning or late at night than during peak hours. Sometimes you can pick up Disney resort wi-fi on top of Mickey & Friends or in the Pinocchio lot... try using the password 'magic', it's worked before. - Ladypixel  15.2 #5639 9:09PM
On iPhone switch "Airplane Mode" on. Then switch it back off. Wait for the "3G" or "4G" to come back on. Usually you will have a signal for a few minutes unless its extremely crowded. - ScooterMike  1959.8 #35 12:18PM
I'm at the parks right now and service is spotty on AT&T - ScooterMike  1959.8 #35 12:19PM
It was bad, I get happy if I can enter wait times but even that's been hard - MarshaMouse  2866.0 #15 12:20PM
I got my best posting reception while on the monorail. I also have Verizon. - JediStaceyB  40.1 #3992 12:33PM

I'm starting to see a trend here... ;) - shadowgamer  1954.3 #37 12:53PM
We have had good service with Verizon inside the Parks. (Outside too!) I say leave at&t like I did years ago! Get Verizon! - Stumickey  289.1 #673 12:53PM
I've not really noticed too terrible of coverage with my MetroPCS phone. - MrsMears  212.1 #1452 1:01PM
Sadly I have that too so I can't even use MW on my phone (ironic since I upgraded to a "better" phone just so I could use MW @ the parks) - MissAmericaSings  279.1 #738 7:26PM
I just jump on MW often enough that it bugs my family and I end up with great reception. If I try doing it when I am alone in the parks I get no reception. - Linzee  517.2 #225 1:03PM
It's Jack Duncan. Single riders are the most suspicious. Trust no one. - GrumpyPirateDad  501.3 #239 1:07PM
It may not solely be reception... I haven't been to the park since I found mousewait (counting down 4 more days), but on the busiest days at the park I can't get on to mousewait through the web portal at all. Seems that their is a problem with overloading the servers as well. - AdamCumming  114.3 #2825 1:10PM
Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong, But is this one of those times that #laming here with my old plays look thighphone 3Gsomething may slightly be to one's advantage as its not trying and can't get the 4G signal anyways? I tend to rub my thighs together and chirp. The high humidity and lowered temperatures help with my chafing. - Butterlina  1307.8 #62 1:14PM
πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  1798.9 #42 1:23PM
For what it's worth, I have T-Mobile and also have terrible coverage most of the time. - Disneymale5000  6.4 #8636 1:22PM
agree, Tmobile is very sparse in the parks, especially when it's a moderately busy or worse day. When there's no one there, I still have problems sometimes. Usually the best spot I've found is Carsland or Critter Country. - Sarafina  398.6 #335 1:44PM
The tip of turning off LTE worked e weekend of 12/8. The only thing I found that worked on Sunday to get on things like Instagram was to turn the phone off and on. That worked for about one minute, so at least I could look at some new downloaded pics. IT SUCKS LATELY! - Tom  3871.8 #7 1:24PM
This past Sunday that is. - Tom  3871.8 #7 1:32PM
How about Sprint? My best reception is on the tram. - Winnie111286  288.8 #675 2:19PM
CarsLand in DCA seems to have the best connection. Main St in DL - RickChavez  2186.7 #30 2:29PM
Any tips on t-mobile? I have the unlimited 4g data plan - shannonrifle  3.7 #15168 2:27PM
I have 4g Tmobile too... It never works in the parks. The only place it works decent is in DCA Bugs Land. Tmobile is no bueno in the parks!! - LizOβ„’  470.0 #258 3:05PM
I turn off WiFi sometimes (especially at DCA) - because sometimes it's trying to catch the Grand Californian's WiFi, and neglecting the network. (it also helps with saving battery). Sometimes, the parks are just too crowded with people using their data networks, it gets overwhelmed. I find that the lesser visited lands help with reception. And the Mark this Spot app is very helpful - it helps them know where they need to improve reception. - LaTruce  1645.1 #45 4:18PM
It seems like it has to be our phones besides carriers because with tmobile I can get reception near POTC, critter country, in front of Jungle Cruise, by Fantasyland walking by Dumbo, Lots of areas in Tomorrowland, and Toontown. Hardest is Main Street! But some days I can't get anything, I have a hotspot I don't use that much there and it has not seemed to help. I have an old mytouch with gingerbread, and it seems to work better than the galaxy 2 with Ice Cream Sandwich. I honestly think verizon must have put in a new tower for their people there. With the new merger of tmobile and Metro i think starting in January, I am sure the other carriers are going to be ramping up there coverage too. I have tried a cell phone antennae too, and nothing. - secretagentangel  669.6 #154 6:15PM
I think its metro, not sure on the the one they merged with but starting in january tmobile is starting the bring your own phone plan which is supposed to include better coverage. - secretagentangel  669.6 #154 6:17PM
The disneyland railroad is the best reception for sprint, works everytime, ecspecially when you go by small world!! - surfr76  30.0 #4371 8:12PM
My bf gets the best reception on Sprint 4G by toy story mania. I have at&t & web reception sucks everywhere. Downtown Disney is the only place were i don't have too much problem posting. Early mornings are good time to post and on the tram. Crowded days are just horrible for at&t. - AandV  124.3 #2656 11:02PM
Crazy I was getting great reception at star tours today with AT&T. I couldn't even mark the spot at times - MarshaMouse  2866.0 #15 12:01AM
FYI-I have pretty much always had good luck with my Verizon at the parks...eats away at my battery pretty good, but connects well!!! - TinkerSchelle  645.4 #167 12:08AM
i have sprint iPhone 4S... getting a reception just dried my battery SO BAD!!! however around nighttime till closing time, i have a good reception everywhere. - otilegna  862.2 #106 1:09AM
I agree! I have sprint 4s my battery went from 86 to 38 in an hour! πŸ˜’πŸ˜” - mickeyat  296.4 #628 6:11AM
I have pretty good reception at the parks. I have the iPhone 4 and my service provider is Verizon. I use the NewTrent to help maintain battery life. I am not sure if that helps. - RadiatorSprings4Ever  136.3 #2500 1:26AM
Twins! I'm an iPhone 4, Verizon, and never go to the parks without my NewTrent!!! - AvidDisneyThrifter220  851.4 #107 3:36AM
I hope Santa brings me the new Trent I asked for! So I can start bringing it to DL :) - mickeyat  296.4 #628 6:12AM
@mickeyat, I hope you get your Christmas wish.@AvidDisneyThrifter 220, I like my little iPhone 4 too! But I am not a tech. person so I think it works great. - RadiatorSprings4Ever  136.3 #2500 8:07AM
I have the iphone5 with AT&T and it is tough to post times and pics in both parks. I always carry my Trent charger because my phone spends a lot of energy looking for towers and screen light. Better reception behind BTMRR, great signal in the wicked wench room on POTC, rest of dlp is a struggle now. In DCA it's ok down buena vista st but zilch in radiator springs. Signal picks up at screamer and only ok at goofy's sky school. I shut off the LTE and use 4g and it helps a little bit - Plumiegirl  3344.5 #10 7:31PM
I have an iPhone 5 with AT&T and had no issues at all tonight. :)πŸ‘ - moomooluvr  272.6 #808 10:06PM
It was great for the first few weeks with LTE and the ip5. Now the weekends are pretty bad. - Tom  3871.8 #7 7:33AM
During week isn't bad as it is during weekends - MarshaMouse  2866.0 #15 7:59AM
Not really a tip but Sprint is experiencing outages of all service from Los Angeles area to Paso Robles. My work uses Sprint and its been awful! I hope that Sprint users are complaining! - tiggertwin  317.8 #532 8:08AM
It wasn't too bad earlier today making my rounds, only had issues around fantasyland so I had to leave and enter the times outside of the area. - chris.  2507.3 #24 12:04PM
The area around the castle is a dead zone - BaseballMickey_CM  2854.1 #16 9:15PM
It wasn't bad in the morning but around 11 when crowds picked up te signal went down, I usually enter my stuff at the well since signal isn't too bad there. - chris.  2507.3 #24 8:50AM
The area around Tomorrowland Terrace is a dead zone, even for Verizon. It takes much longer to update times when the park is crowded because everyone's using the airwaves - JRDrummer_CM  792.5 #119 12:01AM
Wow, I have tmobile and can always count on a signal by Tomorrowland Terrace. Maybe we have our own personal "zones' that our phones like! - secretagentangel  669.6 #154 2:26AM
My MetroPCS phone was pretty much without coverage all day. Boo! - MrsMears  212.1 #1452 1:08AM
Yesterday I had a few points of low service but surprisingly I had great coverage on NOS in between the Jack Skellingtom store (can't remember the name now) and Cafe Orleans. - PiecesOf8  373.1 #368 9:57AM
Isn't that store pieces of eight? ;) - tuesday737  1076.5 #78 8:49PM
Is it that one? Haha. I thought that was the one at the exit of Pirates?? The one I'm talking about is the one next to where you can get the bread bowls. If it is Pieces of Eight I am way more oblivious to things than I thought. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ - PiecesOf8  373.1 #368 8:57PM
Hmmm. yeah, I think you're right. Is that the" Bat enrouge " (sp) - tuesday737  1076.5 #78 9:14PM
Used to be Jack stuff in there but now it's all Minnie. I'll have to try and find the name now!!! - PiecesOf8  373.1 #368 10:21PM
Use mark the spot app all the time in the parks. If we all work together, we can help do great things. - kristian  1781.5 #43 1:01AM
Agree! Although sometimes mark the spot isn't functioning well lol - MarshaMouse  2866.0 #15 10:25AM
So what you're saying Marsha is the worse the service is, the fewer complaints they'll receive. 😜 - Tom  3871.8 #7 3:40PM
With all the people in the parks service has been bad. I have AT&T and usually have very little problem. Lately when I have trouble connecting I've turned Airplane Mode on and off. That's helped a bit. But the more people around using the towers the more clogged it gets- just like the freeways! - LilSterner  2656.0 #17 4:12PM
I have sprint and it's so horrible at the resort .... I have turned off my LTE and it still does nothing I have called and complained about my service and they do nothing :/ ...... I think I need to switch to Verizon it seems to work the best. ........ - Pixielynn  21.6 #4922 9:05AM
The last two times at the park I have not been able to get the lounge to load and that's on Verizon. I have, however, been able to check and enter wait times. - aidensmama  336.5 #445 12:40PM
Sprint doesn't have LTE here yet. I have sprint and use MW at the parks just fine. Certain areas are dead zones but for the most part I can go on. - RickChavez  2186.7 #30 1:07PM
@aidensmama. I have had the same issues with the same provider. What works for me now is to close the application completely then reopen it. hope it helps :) - pinkmonkeys  321.6 #515 6:34AM
Sprint has troubles around the resort because all the manager blackberries and such use sprint. - lostgirl7988  541.5 #208 7:48AM
I switched to verizon and never had any issue with signal or internet. I was amazed that i still had signal. Even on most of the rides. - gonzofam  119.5 #2748 11:20AM
Me too! If my battery would live long enough, I'd post and update even more! - TinkerSchelle  645.4 #167 1:08AM
The whole park just needs good strong Wi-Fi. If I could update wait times and post a few live photos with just one click, I would actually be spending LESS time looking at a little screen and more time enjoying the attractions. - TikiBird  164.7 #2087 6:45PM
How is Sprint reception in the park? I just got an iPhone a few months ago and chose sprint because it was the cheapest. Haven't been to the park since may so I'm curious how other sprint users are doing in Disneyland data-wise. - treradical  126.1 #2630 3:03AM
It's pretty bad. I am hardly ever able to connect to MW, and it's only gotten worse at every visit. - Sheilamo  318.2 #530 4:28AM
Simply beyond horrible. You might be able to make a call but you will not be able to use FB or MW unless you get really lucky. I've noticed the iphone 5 is actually worse than the 4 was. Because it is always looking for a signal, your battery will drain pretty quick also. I use my Sprint iphone as a camera only. Someone we always go with has Verizon on an iphone 4 and she always has service. - ssmatik  1.2 #40629 8:04AM
Verizon works great, even on crowded days I get reception. On the couple of occasions that I lost a signal, I just restart my phone and that does the trick. Sometimes I'll even take out the battery, and put it back in again and that defenitely works every time. One reason why I will never have an Iphone. - Gabster1  200.0 #1634 7:33AM
Recently, I've been able to get a good connection in the parks using Verizon on my iPhone 4. Even when the park is almost to capacity, I can get a signal in areas where I couldn't get a signal at all in previous weeks. So maybe, Verizon has improved their signals around the parks. - BaseballMickey_CM  2854.1 #16 11:53PM
