Its not Disney related but important enough...Thoughts and prayers for the families and friends affected by this senseless tragedy in Conneticut this morning! I am a mother of two small boys... not yet in school, I broke down crying upon hearing of this loss of SO much human life today! So horrible!

I am an elementary school teacher and the mother of two young children. My wife teaches sixth grade and my daughter is only three years old. Kids should be able to be save at their own school. In 2001 I lost a nephew who was four and a half. It's the hardest thing in the world to bury a child. We should all pray for the victims as well as their families and friends. RIP - ScooterMike  1959.8 #35 11:15AM
It's disgusting and so frightening! Lets also remember to pray for the first responders that had to go in and witness the horrible situation in a way no others have to. Make sure to give your little people an extra squeeze tonight! - luvmygreenarmyman  171.5 #1978 1:00PM
I just read about this. Its incidents like this that make me lose my hope in humanity... I realize this is one really troubled person who did this. Yet it such a bad thing to kill innocent people especially 18 innocent kids. These children will never get to experience the many joys of life. Its really disheartening to think that there are sick people out there who are capable of doing this. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those who lost their children and loved ones in this tragedy. I can't even begin to imagine how sad their holidays will be... - vincentchase  639.3 #168 11:22AM
Yeah, I know how you feel. I've always felt that humans, at the core are selfish and have to consciously make decisions to be good. 99% of the time, society as a whole chooses to be good and to love. These kinds of acts are rare and enacted by such a small percentage of people, yet they seem to occur more often in recent history. They have society-altering effects, and one day, one could prove to be catastrophic. Look at how the events of September 11th changed us. We have to have faith that, ultimately, good overcomes evil. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  435.8 #283 11:57AM
I agree with you 100% SOS. - vincentchase  639.3 #168 12:25PM
Well said SOS. There are so many good people in this world. Very sad for all involved. - Tinkerbellmom4  296.0 #631 2:26PM
In this situation it is the families of the children we must pray for but also for all the victims, the innocent members of the family and the teachers and principal who were just doing their job today. And don't forget to pray for the police, firefighters, EMT's, and all first responders, they are trained to see ugly horribleness on a daily basis, but today, this evil is something that can ruin their lives just from seeing it. This will alway - secretagentangel  667.9 #156 12:59PM
I picked out a heavier jacket this morning since it was close to freezing. I zipped in the lining and put it on my daughter. I drove her to school, saw her into her Classroom, and said goodbye. I shouldn't have to think of doing anything else to keep my child safe!! Being warm enough and having her homework and lunch with her should be our biggest concerns in the morning! Sadly, that's just not the case anymore. - meridafan  1034.4 #83 2:21PM
I teach elementary and I know I would do anything to protect my students, even if it meant putting myself to protect them. As a mother and a teacher, my heart is so broken...I can't stop from being on the verge of tears. My heart goes out to all who were affected, to all of us, so worried and sad...may we all find a way to heal and find peace with today's events - MarshaMouse  2834.9 #15 3:43PM
I just turned on the news--have been working nonstop this morning. Ugh, our world can be so, so full of evil and pain! Prayers for everyone involved--may families and children involved find peace and love in this world. βœ¨πŸ™πŸ’–πŸ™βœ¨ - Spoonful_O_Sugar  435.8 #283 10:51AM
For anyone wondering, a gunman opened fire at an elementary school in Connecticut this morning. They are reporting 27 people lost their lives, including 18 children. Of course, others are injured and have witnessed an unspeakable act. My heart is absolutely breaking watching this. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  435.8 #283 10:56AM
Absolutely heartbreaking and unfathomable. :( - jmgphx  322.7 #509 10:52AM
So very sad. What is wrong with our world?? My prayers go out to all involved in this senseless tragedy.πŸ™β€πŸ’ - Brie  113.3 #2842 10:54AM
What is this world coming to? No one should take any form of deadly action against anyone, let alone children! I mean come on, ugh so angry!!!! - PanPiratePoppyCock  207.0 #1528 10:57AM
Wow so sad. I knew nothing about it until I saw your post. These were helpless and innocent children. My prayers go out to the families..no one deserves to go through thisπŸ™ - LuvsMimisHouse  107.5 #2940 11:00AM
This breaks my heart. I cannot stop crying. It is always terrible when this sort of thing happens but even more so when it is little kids. I hurt for the families that lost someone from this incident and pray for everyone there who is going to be affected for this for the rest of their lives. It is so, so sad. It makes you just want to hold your child and never let go. - aidensmama  336.4 #444 11:05AM
Omg. I haven't turned on the tv this morning. I don't know what to say shocking - PrincessDuckie  585.6 #187 11:06AM
I saw it on the news as my fifth graders were taking a test, and was in complete disbelief. I looked out at my concentrating students and prayed for their safety. I hope their biggest problems at their age are things like winning a game, getting good grades, etc. So sad :( - ima-pirateswife  432.3 #288 11:10AM
I am completely heartbroken! These were kindergarteners, 5 year olds, babies... I can't even fathom the evil behind this :(. My prayers are with the families, the school, the community, and all the first responders. I will be holding my loved ones tighterπŸ’— - hatgal76  202.7 #1587 11:12AM
So tragic...the loss of innocent lives, and the loss of innocence for the children who live but will always remember. - Gia  782.1 #119 11:15AM
Yes, this is such a horrible tragedy. - madsdad  1123.4 #73 11:16AM
School should be a safe and happy place to learn. This news is really heartbreaking, the worst nightmare to any parents. Let's all pray for the victims and their families. - RapunzalK  180.0 #1861 11:38AM
I'm so saddened by the news of this tragedy, I'm overcome with sorrow at the thought of so many innocent lives lost and the trauma that all of the students and staff have to go through, no child should ever feel the fear that they felt. It makes me want to leave work and go home and hug my son. My prayers are with all those affected by this senseless act of violence. - Princessana08  39.3 #4009 11:38AM
They just released information that the shooter was the son of a school employee. I don't get how someone can be so angry that they 1) kill someone and 2) take other people with them. :( - aidensmama  336.4 #444 11:41AM
Yes they just said his mom was a teacher at the school.. They just found her and his father dead! This story get sadder and sadder :( - hatgal76  202.7 #1587 11:56AM
My heart is breaking for these families. I heard on the news that it is very devastating for kids to watch this on the news. Please don't watch the coverage with your kids. I really felt like I should go and get my girls out of school but that is also not the best. It makes them feel like their school isn't safe. I'm praying for these poor families, I can't even begin to imagine what they are going through. 😒😒😒 - MissMolly  688.7 #147 12:13PM
So sad...my heart is broken for the victims and families.... It brought me to tears and makes me sick to my stomach.... Keep all the families in my thoughts and prayers - lovetrustpixidust  5.6 #9498 12:27PM

Why shoot up a school? These children did nothing wrong. My prayers go out to Connecticut. - miss_rachel  118.9 #2746 12:44PM
I just read about this right now and it truly makes me sick. Having two little nieces and a nephew of my own makes me wonder how terrible this must be for the family and friends of those children. The worst feeling in the world is seeing people hurt and knowing there is nothing you can do about it (at least for me). My prayers go out to each and every person affected by this senseless tragedy and I hope everyone who was involved gets what's coming to them. - ScubaSteve028  807.5 #114 12:58PM
It's so tragic. My sister is a teacher is a not so great area and these things make me worry for her. There was one story so far that's come out that I would like to share with my MW family. A 6 year old boy in one of the classrooms saw the gunman barge into his class and shoot his teacher. He then grabbed his fiends and got them out he back door. He ensured all his classmates were out before getting himself out safely. This is a 6 year old boy. I can't say I would have had the wits in that situation to do the same. - lostgirl7988  541.3 #208 12:59PM
That is one brave child. - Princessana08  39.3 #4009 5:08PM
I coach and teach high schoolers and I don't want to try and imagine the pain that community is going through right now. Prayers and vibes for all those affected. - lizzie2thelou  28.3 #4457 1:47PM
I honestly can't articulate how angry and sad I am. The poor families that lost precious lives and the innocence that can never be regained by the other students is definitely a tragedy. My heart goes out to all of the victims and their families, the survivors, and the first responders, all whose lives will never be the same. - ladylikesdisney  921.5 #95 2:12PM
My thoughts and prayers go out to all the families affected by this senseless tragedy. I can't even watch the news without crying. - leftmyheartinwonderland  272.1 #806 2:18PM
I have been out shopping this morning and did not hear about this horrible tragedy. While eating lunch with my son (4 yr old) some older gentleman broke down in a table right across from us shortly after we took our booth.. I couldn't figure out why and thought my son was behaving properly so it couldn't have been nothing he had done. This guy broke down so much he had to switch tables.. I then sat for a moment baffled until he approached us and explained how he's a retired teacher and had a hard time watching my little guy play and interact with me after hearing the news today.. I searched it through my phone and could not believe my eyes. The guy then ate his lunch quietly and before leaving the restaurant he told me God Bless you and your family and he left.. I am so baffled and sickened by it all.I cant even imagine the pain of those families and even the community as a whole has gone through today. Prayers and well wishes to Connecticut. - DisneyMe2Death  606.9 #179 2:31PM
I'm in shock that this happened :( - BubbaLoo  826.2 #109 2:32PM
I was doing therapy in a kinder class today and all I could think was "How would I keep these kids safe?" So tragic!! - tiggertwin  317.8 #526 3:05PM
Its always good to have a plan in mind. Schools need more security. My son's school is fenced in so one could only get out. (The only way in is to hop the fence or go through the office). I think a stationed cop at schools is a good idea too. (Many high schools have them). - aidensmama  336.4 #444 3:26PM
I teach high school. A few years ago we had a shooting on campus. In this case everyone involved belonged on campus. I don't think there is anywhere that you are truly safe no matter how hard we try. Prayers to all. Kiss your family and don't take them for granted. - sewedna  84.4 #3214 3:35PM
I'm sorely tempted to go down to the Esplanade tomorrow and light some candles, leaving them on the Compass. - DizKahuna  134.5 #2527 6:32PM
As much as I love the sentiment I can all but guarantee security would remove them :/ - lostgirl7988  541.3 #208 6:42PM
