It's been 15 days since my mom surgery, she is now cancer free! Look how awesome my mom looks. I really want to take her to Disneyland next week, she won't let me. Kidnap maybe? What do you all think? Should I just kidnap her?
I guess I'm in the minority here, but I had the exact same surgery in June. I started doing things too soon and had some pretty serious complications. I know how much you love her and want to use some Disney magic to make her feel better. Maybe start with getting tons if Disney movies and cuddling with her, take a drive a look at Christmas lights, maybe bake some holiday treats with her. If she says no... I really think the parks is probably too much for her. Just enjoy every moment and cherish the Chrismas miracle your family was given. I have kept you both in my prayers. I know my family is doing a little extra celebrating this year too.π - RCmom

Take it from RCmom, I think she knows what she's talking about. =) Maybe your mom saying she doesn't want you to spend money on her is an excuse. She may not want to admit she might not be physically up for a trip to the park. Watch her behavior and how she reacts physically to daily life and go from there. Give it some time, you will get back to DL with her soon enough. I'm so glad she is cancer free and feeling better than she once was! - MousekaNinja 335.8 #448 2:19PM
I totally get that. I don't mind having to push her in a wheel chair. She love disney at Christmas time. I mostly just want her to enjoy the decorations and the candlelight ceremony. I do all of that with her now! - xtigerxlilyx 62.0 #3539 2:19PM
I would have to wait a whole year to take her to disney. She only likes to go during Christmas - xtigerxlilyx 62.0 #3539 2:21PM
BtW... She looks beautiful! - RCmom 2590.3 #20 2:42PM
I have to agre with RCmom. I understand you wanting to take your mom and share some magic with her, especially free such a trying time. But rest is crucial to her recovery. When I was going through chemo I pushed myself way too hard and it causes problems. She knows her body best and if she thinks she can't handle it is listen to her. Disneyland will always be there to share. Make sure she gets taken care of first. - lostgirl7988 541.5 #208 2:52PM
I feel the exact same, just didn't know how to say it. Lisa, you said it beautifully! Please let your mother rest. When she is ready, I'm sure she will let you know! - Armenda 994.4 #89 2:53PM
Must be a Central Valley thing, I completely agree, Lisa. And like Armenda, I didn't know how to say it. It's such a nice gesture and your mommy is sure deserving, but maybe it's too soon for a crazy Disney day. Let her let you know when she's readyβ€ - AvidDisneyThrifter220 851.4 #107 3:08PM
Congrats to your mom on being Cancer Free, that's so awesome!!!
Yeah, she should be careful on what activities she does. Anyways, good luck!! - Superspacemountainfan 11.3 #6390 3:23PM
I agree with RC, if she really needs some rest, stay home, cuddle, watch old videos and movies and look thru pix. You don't want to wear her out! If you go, keep it mellow :). Congratulations to you all!!!! - TinkerSchelle 645.2 #168 4:20PM

If you have a AP and live close you can bring DL to her, make a DL Run and get dinner and treats, my hubby did this for me and it cheered me up. Your mom knows what she can handle right now, just enjoy this blessing and maybe next month she'll be up for it and start a new yr at DL with your wonderful mom. - dumbbunny

Yes your mom needs to recover, but by next week she will be almost 25 days out. She does need to get out and slowly get back in the swing of things. After what she has gone through pushing her in a wheelchair, if she isn't up for all that walking, so she can see DL at Christmas would be wonderful....it's not like she needs a full day of rides and stuff. Sometimes just stopping and smelling the roses at DL is better than the craziness. - MagicalRN

Thank you!!! It's not like I want her to go on Indiana jones. I just want her to enjoy the Christmas decorations and maybe get a corn dog. :) - xtigerxlilyx 62.0 #3539 9:02PM

Good for your mom! It encourages me even more when I hear about people getting well from cancer especially since my dad was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. He's currently undergoing chemo and he's responding very well and the cancer is shrinking, so we're hoping that it's gone with the next couple of treatments. I hope your mom is blessed with good long health. Merry Christmas. And god bless. - DarthMickey

Your mom looks beautiful. Of course I have no idea what it must be like to hear you have cancer, but after my mom had her surgery for colon cancer, she became a little reclusive. I think she had to heal emotionally as well as physically. I just gave her time and did things with her on her level. What an awesome Christmas! - RadiatorSprings4Ever
