Good morning! This day in Disney history, Dec 12th, 1927. Disney's Oswald, the Lucky Rabbit short "Empty Socks" animated by Hugh Harman & Rollin Hamilton is released. This silent black & white animated piece is the 1st ever Disney Christmas themed short. unfortunately it appears to be a lost cartoon, so I was unable to provide a link to watch. Also
on this day in 2000, The Disneyland Pacific Hotel re-opens as Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel. The 502-room hotel has been brightly painted & re- decorated to reflect the new beachfront theme. Hotel guests at this time had an exclusive entrance to DCA located between the Corn Dog Castle & Souvenir 66 in the Paradise Pier section of the park, but it was closed due to low use in 2004. Have you stayed at this hotel? Did you like it? Why?
Thanks for the history lesson today. Now off to the parks I go :) - RickChavez

😱 Oh I hope you get to soon! Such a special treat! You live near the parks though correct? And THANK you! You're awesome too! 😘 - Duchess_SMK 3291.4 #11 11:54AM
Yes. About a half hour drive. - MyPark 944.4 #92 11:55AM
I stayed there as a child with my family. Before DCA, before Disney owned the hotel, it was the Pan Pacific. My brother and I loved the glass elevator because we could see the Matterhorn from it. - MousekaNinja

Neat! Yes! The hotel was built in 1984 by a Japanese company & was originally known as the Emerald Hotel. When Disney purchased the property in 1995 the name was changed from the Pan Pacific Hotel to the Disneyland Pacific Hotel, and in 2000 it became known by its current name. I never got to see that glass elevator! 😢 - Duchess_SMK 3291.4 #11 12:02PM
You are so knowledgeable! =)
My brother and his family stayed there last year. He said they liked it. The WOC music is piped into the rooms and they could see it from their window. Well, the backside of WOC anyways. - MousekaNinja 335.8 #447 12:06PM
Naw! I just really like to read DL history, can you tell? 😂 Neat about WOC! I hear you can watch the fireworks from the pool deck and hear the music there too! - Duchess_SMK 3291.4 #11 12:10PM
That is so awesome! Something for us all to consider when we are trying to decide what hotels to stay in. And since you can use any of the resort pools if you stay at the resort, I'm sure if you stay at the DLH or Grand you could go over to the PP roof pool to watch too. =) - MousekaNinja 335.8 #447 12:17PM
You are probably right! ;) - Duchess_SMK 3291.4 #11 12:33PM
I've always wanted to stay there and watch woc from there. - madsdad

Me too! Last time I stayed there WOC wasn't even round yet! Sometime soon hopefully! - Duchess_SMK 3291.4 #11 1:01PM
I've stayed there I really liked it. It's a longer walk to the parks but the rooms are bigger its quieter and the whole atmosphere seems more laid back than the grand - spaceranger916

Yes! I like it too! But you are right that is about a mile and a half walk to the park. I wouldn't mind that at all right now though! ;) - Duchess_SMK 3291.4 #11 4:54PM
My day is complete. Thanks Duchess. - splashphotoCM

Yes I have stayed there several times and really miss the "secret entrance" to DCA. When going with my two kids they always gave us a room with couch bed (ask for corner room). - ShariRenee

Too bad about the Oswald cartoon. Have not stayed at that hotel. Maybe one day. The Disneyland Hotel is next on my list :) Thank you! - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint

Somebody said something about poor Oswald! Thanks churro! Oh! Will that be your 1st time staying at the DLH? It's by far my favorite out of the three! - Duchess_SMK 3291.4 #11 5:09PM
