today I had a tough day at the parks...my son is autistic and I'm amazed at how crude people are especially today...people were telling my son to shut up... I just left the park heartbroken

I'm sorry that happened to you and kudos for being the bigger person in that situation. I probably would have had my pass taken away for kicking them in the face. - ScubaSteve028  807.5 #114 7:14PM

This too. Nobody gets between papa bear and his kids. - splashphotoCM  880.9 #100 10:26PM
I'm so sorry you had to experience that. A few weeks ago my daughter got made fun of on Pooh. She's hard of hearing so she still makes a lot of babbling sounds and can be quite loud since she doesn't understand how to control the volume of her voice. The couple in front of us were annoyed by the noises she was making and the wife started to mimick her halfway through the ride. After we got off they walked away from us quickly, I shouted after them that I hope they were proud of themselves for making fun of a deaf 4 year old. There are people out there that are rude and inconsiderate, but there are even more that are understanding. I hope your next trip is better. (((Hugs))) - LBChica  1499.8 #51 10:08PM
What the heck is wrong with people?!?! I'm sorry Chica - PrincessDuckie  582.2 #187 10:35PM
Reading these stories breaks my heart. Every child deserves happiness! - tiggertwin  317.8 #526 11:03PM
Awww that's so sad....I'm sorry you had to endure that - MarshaMouse  2834.6 #15 11:06PM
wow. adults? sorry that happened :( - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  1771.8 #42 8:59AM
I am so sorry to hear that. My son is autistic as well and I know how hard it can be for you and him I hope one day people can be more aware of autism and how it affects them and their families. - Apples2  336.6 #440 7:12PM
I'm truly sorry that happened to you, Disneyland is supposed to be for everyone, sorry some knuckle heads ruined it for you guys. I think city hall on main street can give families with special needs children a pass to get on and off the rides quickly. Hope that helps. - skywalker661  231.2 #1222 7:17PM
Yes. They will give you a GUest Assistance Card which should help. - aidensmama  336.3 #441 8:05PM
As a teacher I understand autism, it's not something everyone will understand. But you will have many more that will be understanding if they only knew. Hoping the compassion enters those who need it - MarshaMouse  2834.6 #15 11:08PM
The only "bad" day I had at DL was right after my daughter was diagnosed within the autism spectrum. I even made cards to hand out explaining meltdowns etc to those not understanding. We got annual passes that trip, for the first time, so we could take it slow and not overwhelm her. It isn't much of an issue these days. She still struggles with anxiety, sensory issues and night terrors but I think the hardest days are behind us. Don't give up. Focus on the supportive people and ignore the idiots. There's a lot of good out there too. Sorry you had to experience that. - MamaRoo  344.5 #421 7:51AM
I'm really sorry to hear that, people can be mean and insensitive sometimes. Hopefully your son can continue to enjoy time at DL when there aren't jerks around. - madsdad  1120.6 #73 7:08PM
Thanks... I do too!! Its hard at times but people today were on a good one!! - theemaleficentdiva  67.4 #3448 7:14PM
i'm terribly sorry for that. some people are just incredibly cruel and have no compassion. hopefully you can try again with better results. i'm so sorry you had to go through that. - nicoleface  1247.5 #65 7:23PM

I'm sorry. :-(. I hope next time is better - PrincessDuckie  582.2 #187 7:29PM
Sorry that happened you should of just slapped the person seriously. I don't care if anyone disagrees with me but that's not right to tell someone with autism that. - Hendizl  1299.8 #62 7:34PM
sorry to hear that- some peeps are just straight up rude. - MrMom626  1474.6 #52 7:35PM
I'm so sorry :( people can be ***holes. Maybe next time you go ask the people at the gate about your sons condition and maybe you can get a pass to avoid the lines. That might help him? - QueenRobin  113.8 #2827 7:37PM
So sorry you had to feel that way . Ppl just don't understand . I hope all is well . Ppl are rude . - jmza4  239.0 #31532 7:37PM
That's terrible! Who does that?! Sorry you had to experience it--Ihope your next trip is better :) - Spoonful_O_Sugar  435.8 #283 7:42PM
People can really suck sometimes. I hope your next visit is much more enjoyable. - Linzee  515.2 #227 7:42PM
Oh. I am so sorry that happened! What a shame. I wish people would learn to give others the benefit of the doubt and not just make assumptions. I hope you're feeling better now and your next outing goes much better. Sending you and your son some hugs! - meridafan  1032.4 #84 7:44PM
So sorry :( . Those people are horrible. Karma will get them and be a batch.... of cookies. - BrerRabbit  228.7 #1259 7:44PM
I think it's rude for anyone to tell someone who they don't know to shut up. And since your son is autistic that just makes it even more wrong of them for not understanding. I am sorry this happened to you. - Jillian  765.4 #128 7:46PM
I know! I can't imagine telling someone I don't know to shut up, let alone a kid! - Spoonful_O_Sugar  435.8 #283 8:00PM
I know right?!? - PrincessDuckie  582.2 #187 10:40PM
Hang in there. It's not easy. My daughter meows and roars at people. I get a lot of stares as she's now my height. I just ignore. If asked we'll share. But I can't prevent idiots from crossing her path. I'm teaching her now how to react (or not) appropriately. - JenAnneWho  300.7 #609 7:54PM
I'm always saddened to hear about others that are insensitive. I have a special affection for individuals with Autism because I am fortunate to be able to learn from them in my work. Hope your next DL experience is filled with extra magic. - NikkiMickey  1583.1 #48 8:02PM
There is a lot of ignorance still in this day and age. - aidensmama  336.3 #441 8:07PM
I am so sorry I hope next time you both have a wonderful experience. - brealover  298.0 #618 8:14PM
Please do not let one horrible awful person ruin your Disney experience. Some people simply do not have patience or know how to show kindness to others. I hope that you and your son can return and have a wonderful time. - tiggertwin  317.8 #526 8:18PM
That hurts me to hear that. There's no reason for lack of respect towards anyone. I'm sure they didn't know about the autism but that still doesn't give them the right to treat anyone like that. Yes a kick in the face would be nice but I admire your self control. I rember watching kids at church & there was a boy with autism. Lots of people didn't want him around but if I sat with him one on one he was the sweetest kid ever. Not everyone understands autism - Philliprocks  275.3 #771 8:30PM
Well, you have more self control than I do to not deck those losers! So sorry that some self absorbed people were being so incredibly rude! - preggoprincess  183.1 #1821 8:32PM
I'm sorry that happen to you. I've notice many bad apples today. I was shocked at the rudeness - Lifeguardmom  292.5 #657 8:32PM
I'm sorry. It amazes me how rude and inconsiderate some people can be. Especially since most people that are there are probably on vacation and should be in their happy place. I hope your next trip to the parks is magical. - luvmygreenarmyman  171.5 #1976 8:41PM
I'm so sorry this happened. Just know you have your son in your life because you love him and can handle whatever situation you are put in...the people you encountered today can not say the same thing! Happy holidays. I hope you and your son have many more happy memories at the happiest place on earth. - SBsnowwhite  251.9 #991 8:52PM
So sorry this happened to you...breaks my heart people can be so horrible. - MinnieMousewife  569.9 #193 10:05PM
So sorry that happened to you. I am terribly annoyed by insensitive , tactless people. I hope you are around nicer people at the parks next time. - 7mouskedoodles  161.1 #2137 10:07PM
Some people can be really crummy, I hope your experience today doesn't deter you from going again. Sending you lots of positive vibes✨✨✨ - nicealex77  225.2 #1298 10:33PM
(((Hugs))) sorry you had to go through that. - 619HeatherMouse  221.6 #1336 10:35PM
This makes me so sad. People can be cruel. But acting like that to a child is just inexcusable. - Sharkgrrl19  202.9 #1584 10:42PM
I am sorry to hear this. There are a lot of ignorant, self important people out there. I hope you have a better experience next time! - Boundin  423.7 #298 10:43PM
This hurts my heart. People are so ignorant & rude, and I wish those types of people weren't allowed in the Parks, but unfortunately they're everywhere. I'm sorry you had a poor experience. :( - GrimGrinningAmanda  312.3 #544 11:05PM
This makes me so upset. I'm so sorry. - FindingYou  124.8 #2648 11:11PM
I would have been proud to have gone to the parks with you son & LBChica's daughter! Growing up it broke my heart & I had to fight tears when I saw someone with a disability. As I grew up I figured out that if I smiled & said hi I not only made them feel good, I feel good. I'm so sorry you guys had to deal with cruel people, especially at the Happiest Place on Earth! - toniasmith  263.4 #884 11:16PM
What gives anyone the right to tell anyone to shut up--ten times worse someone else's child. Some people are so ignorant it makes me sick ! - missyandpaul  255.7 #949 2:57AM
I'm sorry you had to deal with such disgusting people both you and LBChica. I do have a cursing mouth on me and no patience for stupid, ignorant people so you handled it so much better than I would've. - dumbbunny  113.5 #2835 3:55AM
Was shocked by this,I can't believe how mean people can be. Seems even worse around the holidays. Sorry you had to endure this - thumpur  230.5 #1231 4:47AM
Oh Diva...I'm so sorry ignorant people ruined your day. I don't understand why supposed "adults" are so mean and rude. Please know that for every stupid person, there are 20 times more loving people. XOXO - fvbmermaid  214.0 #1427 6:10AM
So sorry to hear about this. Disneyland is supposed to be the happiest place for everyone. - swvballmom  4.5 #11454 6:21AM
I'm really sorry to hear this, people never change.. I was at the parks a year ago and got a really bad sun burn on my chest and shoulders that started to peel really bad, people actually were making fun of me in the lines for rides, I ended up buying a jacket because I felt so insecure. - steffi  5.6 #9569 8:55AM
what the!??? ugh! I am so sorry that happened. ALL kinds of children, old and young, should be able to enjoy Disneyland without that business. - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  1771.8 #42 8:59AM
