#News- Candlelight 2012- (December 1-December 20)- This year for the first time in Disneyland history, there will be 20 nights that the Candlelight ceremony will be held, with 2 performances per night (40 performances total). Performance are at 5:30pm and 7:30pm (weather pending). The first two nights, December 1 and 2, will be for invitees only, keeping the tradition that Walt started in 1958 by inviting guests and their families who had contributed and supported the Walt Disney Company throughout the year. From December 3-20, all shows will be available for day guests to watch. Many seats have been raffled off to Annual Pass Holders (you know who you are), but most of the viewing areas will be standing room only around the Town Square area. Because of these performances, most of the park and California Adventure will be open like usual during the show except for the following in the Town Square area: The Main Street Train Station is closed and will not pick up nor drop off guests at the station; all Disneyland Railroad stations will close at 4:00pm with the last guest drop off at 4:30pm; "Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln" will close during all Candlelight performances, but will reopen after the last performance; "Captain EO" will close at 1:00pm and will act as a holding and meeting area for the choirs; the Mad Hatter on Main Street will close at 4pm and will open after the second performance; the Disney Gallery will close at 4:45pm and will open after the second performance; and the Guide Stands will close at 5:00pm and will open after the second performance. Also, "A Christmas in Fantasy" parade route has be altered and will not circle Town Square, but instead, make a turn by the Christmas tree/Disney Showcase building. But most importantly, watch out for walkways closures around the performance times due to the procession.~ All Candlelight performances include a full symphony orchestra, guest choirs along with the Cast Member choir and a guest narrator, all telling the Christmas story. Choirs will procession down the streets of the park, each holding a candle, and end up at the Main Street Train Station for the performance. Thanks for the info, Kevin. I do want to point out that the Opera House and Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln will not be reopening after Candlelight performances when the park closes at 9pm. It will reopen after the performances on nights the park closes at 10pm and 12am. - IDVandalSkipperCM

Just to add on: the processional will work slightly differently this year than in years past. Instead of taking the traditional route from its a small world down to the train station the choirs this year will process from the gate near the corn dog cart down Main Street. - lostgirl7988

This has been answered before, probably more clearly than me, if you look around. CMs try to keep walkways clear (like the parade route and sidewalks), but there are standing room viewing areas on the outskirts (like where people are allowed to gather to wait for parades--curbs, etc). Some people get there hours early to stake out a spot. It would be easier to get a spot for the second show (shorter wait). I'd move in for a spot as the first show ends. I've seen CMs let people who have been waiting really long in standing room areas into back row seats at the last minute, but I suppose you'd have to be super-lucky for that. - brigeet 254.0 #972 8:55PM

The one time we've seen it we found out, purely by chance, that the high school I graduated from was the performing choir. It packs in pretty fast and early for the standing room only. Friends of ours get there every year and wait for hours to get their prefered seat. When we went we found this smallish pie shape area right up against the wall of the Emporium that held our group and we were there for at least an hour but I think it was closer to 2. If they do cancel it will be at the last minute as a last resort. According to leads on the parade route they would make the call 10 minutes before show time. If they do delay the start of the show it will only be by 5 minutes. - IDVandalSkipperCM 1298.5 #63 4:11PM

Once the procession reaches the Emporium, the show is "closed", meaning once you leave, you won't be allowed back in to your seats. I know that doesn't completely answer your question but hope it helps! - IDVandalSkipperCM 1298.5 #63 8:05PM

As of what I saw today, AP holders who have the 5:30 show can line up as early as 3:30ish. My CM friends were working and greeting the entrance and said that AP holders have a choice to which side of the stage they want to sit on and will line up by the respected tunnel by the main entrance. - BaseballMickey_CM 2862.7 #16 9:31PM
