#News- Candlelight 2012- (December 1-December 20)- This year for the first time in Disneyland history, there will be 20 nights that the Candlelight ceremony will be held, with 2 performances per night (40 performances total). Performance are at 5:30pm and 7:30pm (weather pending). The first two nights, December 1 and 2, will be for invitees only, keeping the tradition that Walt started in 1958 by inviting guests and their families who had contributed and supported the Walt Disney Company throughout the year. From December 3-20, all shows will be available for day guests to watch. Many seats have been raffled off to Annual Pass Holders (you know who you are), but most of the viewing areas will be standing room only around the Town Square area. Because of these performances, most of the park and California Adventure will be open like usual during the show except for the following in the Town Square area: The Main Street Train Station is closed and will not pick up nor drop off guests at the station; all Disneyland Railroad stations will close at 4:00pm with the last guest drop off at 4:30pm; "Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln" will close during all Candlelight performances, but will reopen after the last performance; "Captain EO" will close at 1:00pm and will act as a holding and meeting area for the choirs; the Mad Hatter on Main Street will close at 4pm and will open after the second performance; the Disney Gallery will close at 4:45pm and will open after the second performance; and the Guide Stands will close at 5:00pm and will open after the second performance. Also, "A Christmas in Fantasy" parade route has be altered and will not circle Town Square, but instead, make a turn by the Christmas tree/Disney Showcase building. But most importantly, watch out for walkways closures around the performance times due to the procession.~ All Candlelight performances include a full symphony orchestra, guest choirs along with the Cast Member choir and a guest narrator, all telling the Christmas story. Choirs will procession down the streets of the park, each holding a candle, and end up at the Main Street Train Station for the performance. If you have any tips about getting seats or questions, please comment below.

Thanks for the info, Kevin. I do want to point out that the Opera House and Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln will not be reopening after Candlelight performances when the park closes at 9pm. It will reopen after the performances on nights the park closes at 10pm and 12am. - IDVandalSkipperCM  2417.2 #61 11:34AM
Oh, and Jungle Cruise will/should run as normal with the exception of shooting the guns in the hippo pool. I have also heard they will be turning off the sound and animation with the dancing and attacking natives. - IDVandalSkipperCM  2417.2 #61 11:41AM
Can you really hear the jungle cruise over there? I Didnt know that. - philliprocks  1319.2 #132 12:13PM
Yup, especially when it's quiet on Main Street. You can hear the gunshots from Opera House and if you're over by City Hall you can hear the animation. - IDVandalSkipperCM  2417.2 #61 12:16PM
I wish they stopped shooting during flag retreat, it's always bothered me - Sarafina  491.7 #432 3:34PM
And some skippers may or may not scream at the sight of silent dancing head hunters. - JungleBum  1017.0 #182 7:38PM
Just to add on: the processional will work slightly differently this year than in years past. Instead of taking the traditional route from its a small world down to the train station the choirs this year will process from the gate near the corn dog cart down Main Street. - lostgirl7988  697.8 #279 1:06PM
They did this last year as well. A great spot to watch them walk up Main Street is Coaster (Coke) Corner! - caramiapoohluvsbb8  4088.5 #37 3:38PM
We did the shortened precessional for the second show last year due to the threat of rain. Normally the processin runs the entire parade route. I'm kinda glad I don't have to waddle all that way lol - lostgirl7988  697.8 #279 3:52PM
You just answered my biggest question. I was worried that it would be scaled down and they wouldn't do the processional since they increased the nights. I'm glad they're still doing the processional! It always gives me goosebumps! - brigeet  498.6 #429 8:47PM
I always thought that's where they always started from? Lol - NotNKansasAnymor  283.8 #1027 10:41PM
I will be in the park tomorrow. Just wanted to ask...will there be areas available to watch the candlelight or will they close off the area since its invites only tomorrow? - karidaluv  67.2 #4244 8:15PM
There will be areas where you can stand. Tomorrow is the first night, so it might be crowded - BaseballMickey_CM  7599.7 #11 8:38PM
This has been answered before, probably more clearly than me, if you look around. CMs try to keep walkways clear (like the parade route and sidewalks), but there are standing room viewing areas on the outskirts (like where people are allowed to gather to wait for parades--curbs, etc). Some people get there hours early to stake out a spot. It would be easier to get a spot for the second show (shorter wait). I'd move in for a spot as the first show ends. I've seen CMs let people who have been waiting really long in standing room areas into back row seats at the last minute, but I suppose you'd have to be super-lucky for that. - brigeet  498.6 #429 8:55PM
Great updated info as always Kevin. Thanks. - splashphotoCM  885.6 #206 11:24AM
Thanks for the info, so happy MW always knows what's up - Sarafina  491.7 #432 11:25AM
I'm so excited to be a part of this!!! - JenAnneWho  300.7 #911 11:33AM
I think I will be there on your night! Excited to see you perform!! - tuesday737  1283.4 #134 12:58PM
Thanks for the info. I'm going to be in the parks this weekend. Glad to get the heads up! - karidaluv  67.2 #4244 11:37AM
Thank you so much Kevin for the information! I have a question. Is there a list of the choirs for each night? The one time we've seen it we found out, purely by chance, that the high school I graduated from was the performing choir. It made it a little more special because I was in choir all through school. - Autoalice  161.4 #2545 12:35PM
not sure but I found out as well that a friend of ours, her daughter is singing on 4 of the nights with her high school choir - Villescas8  606.9 #336 12:37PM
That is fantastic! What an honor! - Autoalice  161.4 #2545 12:47PM
Thanks for the information! So is it possible for non-passholders to see it as well? And how would that work? I have a passholder seat but some people I'll be with don't have passes. - meefo42  34.9 #5547 12:43PM
Standing room only, first come first serve. Cara said yesterday she waited 3 hours last year and got an ok spot. - IDVandalSkipperCM  2417.2 #61 12:44PM
It packs in pretty fast and early for the standing room only. Friends of ours get there every year and wait for hours to get their prefered seat. When we went we found this smallish pie shape area right up against the wall of the Emporium that held our group and we were there for at least an hour but I think it was closer to 2. The bigger, closer spots were already elbow to elbow. - Autoalice  161.4 #2545 12:51PM
Like they said above, they'll have to steak out a place to stand and watch the show. However, with the 40 shows, instead of 4 in previous years, we'll see how crowded it actually is - BaseballMickey_CM  7599.7 #11 12:59PM
Thanks, everyone! :) - meefo42  34.9 #5547 1:38PM
If anyone hears rumblings of cancelations, please post as will I. Well be there for the early program on the first, tomorrow. I hope it's not cancelled! Thanks for the info. - SparklingMare  53.9 #4623 1:02PM
If there are any cancellations it will be announced in park as well. - lostgirl7988  697.8 #279 1:08PM
If they do cancel it will be at the last minute as a last resort. According to leads on the parade route they would make the call 10 minutes before show time. If they do delay the start of the show it will only be by 5 minutes. - IDVandalSkipperCM  2417.2 #61 4:11PM
Thanks so much for the information, as usual! - 7mouskedoodles  371.6 #613 3:37PM
Where are they selling the sweatshirts? I'd like to pick one up. Also, is there any other related merchandise? I'll be there to sing in the show the 15th! - ThatStarWarsKimberly  408.0 #551 4:06PM
Disney Showcase has merch now. Look up MyPark's post of it - BaseballMickey_CM  7599.7 #11 4:15PM
Thank you! - ThatStarWarsKimberly  408.0 #551 10:07AM
Thanks for all of this great information! - IBelieveInFairies  707.0 #273 5:38PM
How long is the event? I know there will be two shows each day just wondering how long they last. If we do the 5:30 show would we still be able to see the fireworks? - notw12  183.5 #2206 6:39PM
I think each show is about an hour and 15 minutes or so - BaseballMickey_CM  7599.7 #11 6:42PM
Leads said about 50 minutes. - IDVandalSkipperCM  2417.2 #61 6:47PM
Ok. Thank you! - notw12  183.5 #2206 6:54PM
Is there a different narrator every night? - springflowers  14.7 #8691 7:03PM
This year, there are several narrators and each of them have 3 nights. - BaseballMickey_CM  7599.7 #11 10:40AM
My children are also performing with their high school choir on the 13th but I didn't score any AP seats in the raffle, so if anyone has extras for that day, I would be happy to use them. - BellesRose2K  15.3 #8497 10:49AM

Will I be get in to Disneyland park at 7pm. - clarkkent1984  5.1 #18515 12:32AM
We were in the park last night. Miserable around Main Street. Actuslly miserable from entrance of park until end of main street. Very difficult grtting around. - Winnie111286  12314.3 #4 3:54PM
I expected it to be busy last night (it being the first performance day). Hopefully it will be better for now on. - BaseballMickey_CM  7599.7 #11 4:49PM
I agree haha. One way traffic.. people not knowing what the heck was going on... people stopping to watch in the walkway.. It was bad D: - Jenniferr  506.7 #418 4:52PM
We avoided the entrance entirely during that time! Walked right on the rides while the show was taking place though! - GrimGrinningAmanda  666.9 #302 7:26PM
I was at the resort too. The line to get in DCA was packed more than usual, even with the rain. - sammy.aceves  38.5 #5304 7:17PM
Anyone know how easy it is to leave the show once seated? I ask just in case the kids get antsy and we can't stay for the whole show. - LBChica  2437.4 #59 7:41PM
Once the procession reaches the Emporium, the show is "closed", meaning once you leave, you won't be allowed back in to your seats. I know that doesn't completely answer your question but hope it helps! - IDVandalSkipperCM  2417.2 #61 8:05PM
@BaseballMickeyCM or anyone working at todays event:I have tickets for tomorrow night. My instructions say seating begins 30 minutes before. Is this about right or are people lining up way before: Thank you as always! - ShariRenee  8577.7 #9 7:44PM
Hi! What show time do you have? - BaseballMickey_CM  7599.7 #11 8:45PM
5:30 - ShariRenee  8577.7 #9 8:52PM
As of what I saw today, AP holders who have the 5:30 show can line up as early as 3:30ish. My CM friends were working and greeting the entrance and said that AP holders have a choice to which side of the stage they want to sit on and will line up by the respected tunnel by the main entrance. - BaseballMickey_CM  7599.7 #11 9:31PM
Thank you so much!!!! Picking my daughter up from college at 12:30 and heading into DL. Very much appreciated! - ShariRenee  8577.7 #9 9:36PM
bump- those who want to know more about Candlelight - BaseballMickey_CM  7599.7 #11 9:19PM
Hi BBM, what about lining up for the 7:30 show? Thanks. - Cinderella_Schnooks  3370.7 #42 9:23PM
For that, not sure. I'd ask one of the CMs working the show - BaseballMickey_CM  7599.7 #11 10:30PM
Thank you! - Cinderella_Schnooks  3370.7 #42 10:35PM
Read on another site that people got to the 7:30 showing about 40 minutes early and got 5th row seats. That gives an idea of when to get over there. - PiecesOf8  608.4 #335 10:38PM
Thanks for the info! - IBelieveInFairies  707.0 #273 10:44PM
